I have been running with this pack for over a month now and love it. I picked this one because it had the highest rating for comfort and I have not been disappointed. Easy to adjust, pack has plenty of space and easy access to front drawstring pushes. As promised. very durable and am using it all the time during my long runs. highly recommended piece of gear.

I like the shoes, but they are too small. My number is 8,5 but in this model i need a 9,5. By the way they are beatiful
No support, no sole, really. Couldn't get over the lack of masculinity. I suppose they'd be good for the beach or a circumstance/ occasion to which you would normally wear flip-flops for. (No disrespect to those of you that may already own a pair ... just my opinion... beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.)
I have been complimented on these shoes quite a bit and couple of people have mistaken them for Tom's. The shoes runs your size (not too big or small) and fit like a sock. I have walked with these all around the city and I haven't had any back pain. But keep in mind that there isn't much arch support, so if you need that, you might have to put an insert or not walk as much.
This is a great shoe and the color is fantastic. I'm debating if I should get another color (if its on sale of course).

I purchased for my teenage son. When they arrived and I showed them to me he gave me a sideways glance (the 'what the heck' look... and just said 'no.') Frankly, I agreed with him. The shoe is definitely more effeminate than it appears in the photo; they look almost like Toms.No support, no sole, really. Couldn't get over the lack of masculinity. Love these shoes. I got the red ones and started to wear them everywhere. If you match this with trousers that are a little short (so that the edge of trousers and shoes shows your un-socked ankles), you can pull off a very stylish look.I have been complimented on these shoes quite a bit and couple of people have mistaken them for Tom's. I am a long time buyer/user of the Salomon line of shoes. The X Ultra GTX is waterproof, light weight, supportive, and has a great fit. The room and protection in the toebox are what first drew me too there trail running shoes.
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I like being able to go on a hike, and then proceed with my day around town. All without concerns about the weather, or the weight of my footwear. These suit that purpose for me perfectly.
The speed lacing system, is durable (kevlar lacing), and provides a fast, comfortable, custom fit. Which allows for making performance adjustments when going from walking, to climbing, to bouldering during a hike. I have owned different versions of these shoes and never worry about chaffing, blisters or sore feet. The have excellent grip on the trail and they always keep my feet dry.
Although I mention good grip on trail, watch out for manhole covers or metal grates in city streets during rain or snow. They seem extra slippery in those situations.
Well, they get my recommendation.
To me they are far nicer than Marrell Moabs which I was on my 2nd or third pair.

These shoes are very good, comfortable, true to size and width with easy system for lacing. Quality seems very good as was expected from Solomon. Gore-tex system allows to be with dry feet in a "wet" place. I've evaluated 4 stars because hoped to find a little bit better support and fixation in the arch of foot only.Honest reviews on Salomon Men's X Ultra GTX Hiking Shoe
I have been buying Salomon trail running shoes and hiking boots for over 10 years. I just ordered these and recieved them. I am currently wearing a size 9 in their Trail Running shoe and hiking boots. I ordered a size 9 for these. Too big! Even fully tightened my heel slips out. I dont know if its a manufacturing issue or just an isloted incident but they seem like a size 11 when Im wearing them/ Returning them.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Salomon Men's X Ultra GTX Hiking Shoe
I am normally pretty hard on shoes. They either don't last long enough or can't stand up to the terrain I walk through. I like this shoe because it is very comfortable to walk in wherever I may be. The shoe breathes very well and keeps my feet cool or warm depending on the climate. The gore-tex is very nice especially walking through little puddles or wet terrain. I never have to worry about my feel getting uncomfortable from being soaked. They hold up to whatever I put them through and keep going strong. One of the best pairs I've ever owned.Reviews of New Balance Men's M3090 Athletic Running Shoe

These shoes are so light and comfortable. I have big fat wide feet and also tend to walk on the outside of my foot, so I tend to ruin shoes pretty quickly. I have always been an Air Max or Shox guy, but as long as New Balance keeps making shoes like these I don't think I'll ever buy another brand.
Feel wise they are very comfortable. I wear a size 12 and feel I have a normal foot and the 12's fit great. These are to me are fairly normal fitting in the forefoot area and a bit narrower there than other minimal offerings. The heel is normal as well but due to the padded collar, feels a bit loose. I personally like a bit of padding in the heel collar area so this was a plus for me. My heel stays in place and I am not using the last lace hole either. Upper is very comfortable overall (I wear it with socks).
I have read where these have about an 8mm drop. I would have perfered a 0mm-4mm drop but I do appreciate the extra bit of padding. They do feel cushioned when I have these on (6'3" and 205lbs). Having tried many minimal and many traditional shoes I have come to the conclusion that for me I appreciate the lower drops (again 0mm-4mm) but at the same time hate the lack of cushioning in most extreme minimal shoes. These are excellent even at my weight for walking around in and doing treadmill work. On the road, they are workable, but aren't feel and forget type shoes for me as combined with my weight they can pound a bit after a while. I would consider wearing them in a 5k but I won't train a lot in them. If you are lighter than I am, you may not notice this. When running I don't feel any pressure points from the odd sole design, which is a good thing.
I put these through their paces, new out of the box, during a recent weeklong theme park trip, where I wore them as my main park shoe as well as my running shoe. I have about 20 miles of actual running distance in them and probably about the same in walking distance with of course a lot of standing time in them as well. The sole is holding up very well and the upper is still perfect. The heel node that sticks out just a bit is wearing down as a another reviewer commented on. This appears to be based mainly on the fact that it does stick out ever so slightly and is a very small initial contact point. I am not to worried about it as the rest of the sole is in great shape and this node isn't that big a factor anyways. Ithink once it wears the rest of the sole will start engaging more in that area and the wear will slow or stop at a certain point.
Overall a neeat looking shoe that is very comfortable and, at least for me, nice for gym work and walking around in. I'd consider ordering a second version if they continue to make the 3090. If not and you can find it on sale I would say give it a try if you like the look. It does perform fairly well. I also think for a runner 30-50 pounds lighter than myself, it would feel very good on the roads as well as on the treadmill.

I had looked at these last summer when they first came out and almost paid full retail. I ended up waiting and picking up the red pair from amazon for about half off. Honest reviews on New Balance Men's M3090 Athletic Running Shoe
I have a difficult time finding shoes that fit my feet well and have to always choose New Balance shoes because they are made a little wider than other brands. I normally never order shoes online because I am so difficult to fit; however, I ordered the same size that I already had and hoped for the best. These shoes fit perfectly. These are the lightest shoes I have ever worn, and they are very comfortable. It feels like you're not even wearing shoes, except the bottoms are so comfortable you feel like you are walking on a cloud. New Balance has always made incredibly comfortable shoes, and this model is no exception. From the features, to the fit, to the actual performance in the field (I enjoy kayaking and other water sports), it was a real "winner." The actual looks and the addition of the non-tie laces were an additional bonus that I really liked. OMG am I a happy camper. I am 47 year old mom and preschool teacher. I Jazzercise 4 times per week and walk 3-5 miles twice per week, plus some Y visits thrown in. I am on my feet and moving ALL day long. My heels and feet have been very sore from so much activity and not the right shoes (even though I have a rack full of pairs to rotate between in my collection). The lady at REI talked with me extensively while I was buying a pair of Danskos for work
and she suggested these for my feet and problem. The second I laced them and stood up, walked around the store I was in love. I hugged the gal and told her Thank you SO much and I am not taking these off. I was like a little kid when I left, wearing my new shoes up to pay for them. Told everyone I have met since about my new shoes. While walking to my car, I almost told the people parked next to me that I thought I was walking on cotton balls and felt like (again like a little child) that perhaps I could run faster with these babies on. I wore them until I went to bed. The proverbial cat's meow. Buy them. Not cheap, but boy are they worth it. You won't regret it.
*** The other review was right though. They are not real roomy in the toe box. I wear an 8 in everything and an 8 fit perfectly in these. I am 5'4 and weigh 120 lbs....now being carried on clouds. If someone had wide feet, or needed a roomy shoe, these probably would not work for them. They are light weight and cushiony and comfortable. I will buy a pair for my teenage son.
Woo Hoo! Looking to get another pair for rotation.
I used to wear the Brooks Addiction 11's, switched to Mizuno's last year and am so happy to be back to a Brooks shoe.
Like a previous poster, I am in my 40's and run about 3 miles or so a day. I also have knee issues, but these shoes have been great no added knee pain.

I am a 40something year old mom who normally runs 3 to 10 miles/day depending on the day and the time I have. I am an average build not too thin and not overweight. I have a super high arch and these are the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned... the feeling is like running on jello but more stable, great arch, no blisters with thin socks. the heel is low so if you are not used to minimalist shoes, you may want to build up to a longer distance slowly. I currently alternate between these shoes and mizuno wave rider 15.Best Deals on Brooks Women's PureFlow Lightweight Running Shoes
I was recovering from shin splints and a tibial stress fracture and needed new shoes. I needed a neutral shoe with cushioning and when I first looked at the Pure Flow I was worried that there wouldn't be enough support/cushion. But I've been using them for a few weeks now and they are exactly what I wanted and needed. The cushioning is great! I had a problem with heel striking instead of a midfoot strike which was hard on my knees and shins but the Pure Flow really corrected that and I've been increasing my distance and running pain free! I'm going to order another pair ASAP!Honest reviews on Brooks Women's PureFlow Lightweight Running Shoes
I am in love with these shoes! I have them in white with purple and wanted a second pair that wouldn't show dirt as much. I am not a runner. I have lower back problems and have had disc surgery. These shoes are very supportive and are almost bouncy when you walk. They are very comfortable to wear if you have to be on your feet a lot. I talked about them so much that my husband also wanted a pair. He loves his too! He has been running and says that these shoes make a huge difference. His knees no longer bother him.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Brooks Women's PureFlow Lightweight Running Shoes
I am so in love with my new Pure flows! I wasn't sure it would be the right shoe for me (It is a slightly more neutral shoe and I have been wearing more stability shoes), but I have been running in them for 3 weeks now with a big smile on my face. They are so light and cushiony they hug my feet. I wear a size 9 in a casual shoe and these are a 9 1/2, so just like with most running shoes, I'd recommend going up a half size.I used to wear the Brooks Addiction 11's, switched to Mizuno's last year and am so happy to be back to a Brooks shoe.

After suffering with the slow healing plantar fasciitis for 9 months, these lynco orthotics eliminated the pain for me instantly.
The custom made ($500+) orthotics from a podiatrist made things a little better, but my feet were still in pain at the end of a day of walking in the city. (I walk about 3 to 6 miles daily in New York.)
I decided to try these after a quick sizing up at a local shoe store, put them in shoes (tip: I put them on top of the existing insert on a shoe 1/2 size larger than my usual size) .. the pain went away.
In talking to the very knowledgeable foot consultant at the walking company he summed it up for me: Custom orthotics are hard/stiff and made to manage plantar fasciitis when standing, these Lynco inserts are made for walking.
Note that the walking company has an upgraded version with even more cushioning with a model number L1200 which I prefer even more.
Please try these before going the expensive route with a podiatrist.
P.S. (Does anyone want to buy about $2500 worth of custom orthotics for 10 cents on the dollar?)

I am now using this orthotic in ALL of my flat shoes. I am about to order two more for two pairs of new shoes. I was introduced to this product more than a year ago when I was seeking relief from foot/leg/knee pain. My body was totally out of alignment and I seemed to be breaking down more and more. Using this orthodic in some very high quality shoes with good arch support has relieved me of all pain. On the rare occasion when I don't use the insert, I sense a decline in my condition. Of note: this orthotic should be replaced regularly, depending upon the amount of use.Best Deals on Lynco Sports 400 Series - L400
I have had this product before from local well known orthopedic store but thought it was overpriced at $80, even in the $50's I paid I wonder if they are really worth it. They help but I don't know the cost to benefit ratio. Regardless they are in my dress shoes and make the feet somewhat more comfortable and provide better support than anything I've tried from the local Walmart/shoprite or pharmacy footcare sections. Vendor was very good and would look at other products they carry as well.Honest reviews on Lynco Sports 400 Series - L400
This is the first time I use this type of insert in my shoes and they really help my feet. I use these in my sneakers and my arch no longer hurt after walking and standing. Saucony Jazz shoes are well-made and comfortable. They're great for casual wear, for athletic outings, and for traveling. I wear a half-size, which makes it difficult to find comfortable shoes, but these fit me perfectly. I've had them for several months, and they have continued to be comfortable and supportive. People tell me that they make my feet look small, which is an added bonus. Another nice aspect of these shoes is that Saucony rarely changes their style, so if you'd like to own the same pair of shoes ten years from now, they'll probably have them. I have one frivolous complaint about these shoes : the shoe laces that came with them are a little bit too long. I have a tendency to step on them and untie my shoe laces. I didn't think that such a trivial complaint was worth changing my rating for. These shoes are also very easy to wash. Overall, these shoes are reliable, and completely worth their price.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Saucony Originals Men's Jazz Sneaker

I regret that decision and wish I would have ordered my regular size size it is harder to keep the back up on my heel being a half size larger. Since I only wear these around the house or camp I can live with my size error. I wouldn't wear these any where but at home or at a campsite too goofy looking.Best Deals on Salomon Women's RX Moccasin
I needed a new slipper that could also go outside if needed this fit the bill. The color is my favorite color and they are very comfortable.Reviews of Altra Men's Lone Peak Running Shoe

This truly might be my dream trail shoe. I've only been out for a couple runs so far (each about 7 miles on muddy, tropical forest, rooty, single-track) so my 4 stars is only because I can't truly comment on durability yet. I'm very enthusiastic though. I've long been a huge fan of the *mechanics* of the barefoot craze, but I still need some protection for the ruggedness of trails I typically run. I'm always finding myself compromising somewhere...a "minimalist" trail shoe allows for the mechanics that I like but hurts my feet on rugged trails.. A "beefy" shoe protects my feet but doesn't allow for the mechanics I like because of excessive drop.
This shoe from Altra, however, gets everything perfect for my preferences. Zero drop allows for the barefoot mechanics I want...and it provides excellent protection at the same time. This is no minimalist shoe in that regard.
Sure, all else being equal, I would like to see it a bit lighter...but the thing is that if it were lighter, all else *wouldn't* be equal. It would compromise on protection or durability to get lighter. And it's not heavy as it is...just not what you would consider ultra lightweight like the "minimal" shoes.
I'm *finally* finding myself bombing down rooty and rocky trails with confidence...knowing that I have ample protection...and all while maintaining a midfoot strike like I prefer due to the zero drop. I've been waiting a looong time for this shoe!!
I find the fit to be true to size. I pretty much wear a 9.5 in everything and that feels just right in this shoe as well.
Overall I would (and do) highly recommend this shoe.
I have run numerous 50K-50 mile runs in the Lone Peaks, with no blisters or foot problems. I even paced the back half of the Wasatch 100 in a brand spanking new pair (got them the night before!) and they were just great.
Is there some room for improvement? Of course, but in comparison with other trail shoes out there (I came from the Cascadia 6) they are an amazing shoe (especially for being their first iteration). Looking forward to what the next Lone Peak brings as well.

I do the majority of my trail runs in minimalist shoes, and usually feel caged and uncomfortable in regular shoes. The Lone Peak's zero heel-toe differential is excellent and really mimics the feel of minimalist running, but also offers you some protection. I found that it was the ideal combination, and was delighted as I bombed downhill and worked some challenging technical tracks. I typically wear a 44, but they fit too snugly for me, and I had to send them back. The 45s are a perfect fit and allow my feet just enough room to shift without being overly generous. The shoe is very light and flexible. The mesh material makes the shoes very breathable. The grip was great on dirt, mud, roots, and some rocks. I did slip or skid a few times on large flat dusty rocks sitting on a slant (especially during downhill sections), but I suspect that this might improve as I further break in the soles. Although I can't comment yet on the longevity of the shoe, I should think that they will endure a fair amount of punishment before relinquishing any integrity. I plan to use them in some upcoming trail ultras, so I may report back with specifics.Overall I would (and do) highly recommend this shoe.

I tried the Instinct after purchasing them at a marathon expo for half price and decided to purchase the Lone Peak for trail running. The idea of zero drop has fascinated me for several years, and I've dabbled in barefoot training with good results. As an ultramarathoner, I'm pretty cautious about changing my footware, while always striving for optomizing my run. After a gradual switch to the Lone Peak (several months), I ran the final 35 miles of a 50 mile trail race with a bit of trepidation over the first few miles. At first, I noticed that my Achilles were complainingbut just a bit. At the same time, my feet and hip flexors felt great. My stride was more upright and balanced. The pain in the Achilles gradually lessened. Durability has been wonderful over rocky, muddy terrain. My only complaints involves the "rudder", which tends to flip pebbles into the shoe and the rubber toe cover, which bothers me just barely.Honest reviews on Altra Men's Lone Peak Running Shoe
I ran in the Altra Insticts (on trails) with great anticipation for the Lone Peaks to release (fall 2011) and picked up a pair as soon as I could. I was not disappointed. They maintain the Altra Zero Drop footbed and a wide, roomy toe box. With the extra rock plate protection and rugged outsole, they are not as flexible as the Instinct (especially at first), but a few good runs will get them feeling good. I have been through about 5 pairs of these and regularly get about 500 miles of rugged trails out of them. I'll even still wear them around, but opt for a new pair once the forefoot traction gets worn down. These have some of the best snow traction out there, I only bust out the spikes in the steep, icy conditions.I have run numerous 50K-50 mile runs in the Lone Peaks, with no blisters or foot problems.
