I wanted to write a review because some of the negative reviews seemed to weigh general shoe preference too high...if your foot just doesn't fit or you don't like these, this isn't the shoe for you, but it doesn't make it a bad product.

For amateur minor running...five or six 5k interval workouts per week...I found these to be perfect. I'm working my way to be able to run a 5k at my goal time at the 'drop of a hat,' but I can experience shin soreness, plantar fascia tension/soreness and foot pad chaffing after pushing myself. These shoes solved all three of these problems, so I give them high accolades for the build.

I like that they're relatively lightweight without feeling insubstantial, and they are also durable...I've logged about 150 kilometers on them, and while they're showing this they clearly have a way to go before they're ready for retirement and banishment to the garden, ha.

So, these are a great option for someone looking to use them for daily gym workouts and intermediate distance running. If I were training for a marathon or 10k (not gonna happen) I might look at a higher priced shoe, but for day to day use these are great while affordable enough to trade out every 500 kilometers.

These shoes were unbelievably bad. I only wear New Balance because they are the easiest shoes for me to get in 13W. I have never had any problems with any of my NB shoes, but these were garbage in under a month. In less than 4 weeks both the rubber part of the sole on the bottom of the shoe had all of its "nubs" worn completely off as well as the fabric and foam on the inside of the shoe warn through. They were only used for normal use as well as about 40 minutes a day on an elliptical machine. This is definitely not enough use for a pair of shoes to become worthless in under a month. I would continue to highly recommend New Balance shoes, but I would strongly warn people to stay away from this particular shoe.

These shoes have been worn for about 2 weeks. There is a seam that has come unstitched. Have had a lot of New Balance tennis shoes and never had this problem before.

Very light and confortable. Although they are for jogging, I use them for my daily walks. Would have prefered red instead of blue, but they were not available in my size

I am an avid jogger who jogs at least 5 miles at least 3 to 4 times a week, mostly on the beach and the side walks in my neighborhood. I have been a customer of New Balance sneakers for years and I have yet to be disappointed. The M580 is no different it is comfortable before, during and after my runs. It allows my feet to breathe and expand with little or no moisture buildup. The shoe is well constructed, stable and giving on the feet. I gave it 5 stars for these reasons. I highly recommend it to those looking for a good sneaker that is reasonably priced.

I got these shoes from a local store at around the same price. I will be ordering another pair because I am picky when it comes to shoes. I paid more than the current price for my size (77.99). I feel that they run true to size and are so comfortable. They are very light shoes which is great, but have a lot of stability when running. I prefer to run cross country rather than on the road and these work great. As far as the term breathe I cannot agree more. I wore these on a cold day and wow they really do breathe a lot. When I run in them they keep my feet nice and cool, and it really is the first pair that i noticed how much they breathe.

All in all great shoes and so far they seem durable. I would recommend these shoes, and I will probably grab another pair probably from Amazon this time before they do not have anymore.

Reviews of ASICS Men's Spivey LD Running Shoe

ASICS Men's Spivey LD Running Shoe,Green/Black/Yellow,10 M US
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I bought these spikes to replace my old Adidas adiStar MD 05 spikes. First off, these spikes are incredibly light, especially compared to my old adiStars. The asics website says these weigh 5 ounces a piece, but they feel much lighter on the feet. If you use these spikes in competition, you will definitely get a mental boost from them. Secondly, I bought the green/yellow variant, and they are just as vibrant as the display image. Since I wanted a bright pair of spikes, I was happy to find this to be true. Thirdly, the spikes come with a cross country claw that can be used to turn them into cross country spikes. The claw is a yellow plastic star that fits into the bottom of the shoe, with special golden spikes to be inserted into the plastic claw. However, I would not recommend them to be used in this fashion since I don't think the hard plastic on the bottom of the shoe won't hold up very well under cross country conditions. Racing flats should be racing flats and track spikes should be track spikes, but that's just my opinion. These shoes come with the slightly shorter than usual 3/16" pyramid spike as opposed to the 1/4", so be conscious of this fact when buying them.

These are rated for the 3,200 m through 10,000 m, but these should work well for distances down to the 1,500 m. However, the material around the toe box is quite thin so take this under advisement. Once I run a timed mile in these I'll edit my review as to if I've changed my thoughts.

EDIT (3/4/13):

I finally got around to running a timed mile in these and they felt great. Once you put them on and start running, they feel like they disappear on your foot. While running in these, I PR'ed by 10 seconds even though I haven't really increased the intensity or length of my runs. In my opinion, these spikes are a good choice for down to the 1,500 m. Below that though, you'll want to get a middle distance spike for the tougher construction. Even though I'm pretty in shape right now, the day after the timed mile I could feel it in my ankles and my calves. I think this is mostly due to me changing my stride and converting to be a forefoot striker, but the shoes may also have contributed since they are so light because they don't have a lot of cushioning. I recommend doing some barefoot running on the grass or infield in order to get your legs used to the extra forces it will endure without cushioning from regular running shoes.

A word of advice: Make sure you clip your toe nails when you get to run in these. The toe box material isn't that frail, but I'd err on the side of caution. After all, it wouldn't be fun to buy a new set of spikes and then tear the toe box with your toe nails.

This is an outstanding spike. It snugs up nicely on the foot without feeling tight or cramped in the toe box or mid foot. I tried on every spike in the store before settling on the Asics Spivey LD. On the track, it's the most comfortable spike I've ever worn. With other spikes, there is a very noticeable "spike" feel. That wasn't the case with the Spivey LD. After the first few steps, I forgot that I was wearing spikes and I could concentrate on the workout. Even though it's a long distance spike, I plan to use them for the 800m and 1500m. My old spikes were one of the top-of-the-line Nike models. The Spivey LD fits better and feels like it transfers more power to the track than the Nike. I have several racing flats and a couple of spikes in this weight range, but none have the feeling of power transfer that I get wearing these spikes.

Equally important, after three hard workouts, I have no spike-related injuries. Usually, my feet and ankles get nagging little injuries when I switch over to spikes, but that has not been the case with the Spivey LD.

Another reviewer mentioned that the spikes themselves are slightly shorter -3/16 instead of 1/4 inch. I ran tonight in the rain on a wet track. In my warm up racing flats, I could feel my shoes slipping a lot with every step. In the Spivey LD, I noticed no slipping at all in spite of the fact that puddles were forming on the track. I'm happy with the shorter spikes. The fit is true to size.

Review of Vibram FiveFingers Mens Speed XC Casual Shoes

Speed XC Shoe - Men's Black/Yellow 40 by Vibram FiveFingers
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
Being the first of the VFFs to be un-insulated and water resistant (the Lontras are insulated) and considering how much I've asked for Gore Tex (or similar) from Vibram, I felt obligated to buy a pair.

First, they're really stiff with the treated fabric layers they use and the Trek sole.

Next, there's a seam before the toes that is met by another central seam. This creates a rise or ridge under the bend of your toes. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but when you first put them on you notice. On the two middle toes of my left foot it creates a slightly smaller opening to the toe pockets than the pockets' width further in.

Most importantly, the Speed XC is definitely sized small. I tried a 41, which I've only ever purchased VFFs in and the Speed XC was extremely tight and was obviously never going to stretch out. The pinkie toe pocket, in particular, was a no-go. The whole length of the foot felt constricted. With the 42 that arrived, the pinkie toe pocket is as small as it could comfortably get with this level of curl to the toes. There's available length in that pocket, but my little toe would have to bend up instead of down. My big toes have a little room at the end that is essential to bend them upwards without the capacity of the shoe to stretch, and my middle toes have the most length available. All my toes fit in fine and don't slip out on their own.

Most VFFs have the capacity to stretch, both the sole and the upper, and with the variation in size within a stated size that I've found with VFFs, it's usually not that big a deal. The larger ones I use with toe socks. The smaller ones I use without and they fit snug but not uncomfortable, eventually the shoe stretches to conform to my foot. Those initially tighter ones end up being my favorites later. The Speed XC is just not a shoe you can do that with. This 42 pair fits like the larger of one of my 41 KSOs. I spent an hour once trying on VFFs at REI in every mens model they had from 40 to 42, and 41 was the right size in all of them. My feet are 10.25" long, Vibram recommends a 40 for me, and again, I only ever buy 41. Until now. The new styles are changing the sizing.

I have a pair of Lontras, as well, and they are borderline at 41. They're a bit snug with toe socks, but are fine without them. They are not any more stretchy from the perspective of the outside upper and the sole than the Speed XC (they too use the Trek sole and water resistant treated fabric layers), but the accounted-for (in the sizing, that is) extra insulation allows some margin for conformity. Possibly I should have sized up on those, too, but I've worn them around and cannot return them. They are not as undersized as the 41 Speed XC was, though. Lontra might be half the difference, and the insulation gives that aforementioned range, even if by-design and considering the reduction in warmth compressing the insulation you should probably not be intending that.

Time will tell concerning the durability of the shoe, but it seems well constructed so far. I'll give it an average rating and increase it later as it wears. I am thrilled Vibram has introduced these two models and I'm glad I bought them in spite of their quirks.

I am a Vibram enthusiast. I use KSO and Trek Sport for casual wear, Bikilas for running and Spyridon for hiking. I purchased the Speed XC for its water resistance in rainy weather. It hasn't rained much since I purchased this pair. This is my first laced pair of Vibrams. I miss the velcro straps that pulls the heel in for a tighter fit. I size a 41 for Bikilas and KSO and size 42 for Trek Sport and Spyridon. Since the Speed XC resembles the Sport Trek in design, I purchased a 42 and it seems to be a bit loose, possibly because it does not have the heel strap to tighten it. I think a 41 would be too tight, so I'll stay with the 42. I also purchased it to wear with Dockers. I had been wearing the Sport Trek with Dockers, but the shiny rubber toes made it seem too casual. The Speed XC looks for like a regular shoe. It does not have the same ground feel as the Trek Sport, but it is a good compromise for more mainstream wear.

6/23/13 update: I spent a week in New York City with this pair in pretty heavy rain. Water did not penetrate I'm happy to discover that it is water resistant as advertised. I don't think it's water-proof, but it did an excellent job of keeping my feet dry in rainy weather. I also began using Injinjin lightweight socks (original weight would be too thick) this made the fit perfect and kept the foot odors at bay. I am using this more on a daily basis to work. It's a great style for me. I would upgrade my rating to 4 1/2 stars.

i am a previous owner of the vibram fivefingers shoes, loved them the first time love them now. these shoes are comfortable and good looking... would recommend to all

Honest reviews on Vibram FiveFingers Mens Speed XC Casual Shoes

I've owned quite a few Vibram FiveFingers (KSO, Trek, Treksport, Spyridon). I blew out the toes in my last pair of Treksports, so it was time for another pair of VFF for every day use. I like the thicker 4mm sole and I've wanted a more water resistant version for some time, so I checked into the Speed XC. The price on Amazon was really good. I read in one of the reviews that these tend to run small, so I bought a size larger than I usually wear. I'm glad that I did! Yes, they do run small and I probably could not have worn my usual size. They don't stretch as much with the stiffer sole and perhaps the additional lining makes them fit more snugly. I've been wearing them for about a month now and I'm pretty happy with them. Yes, they are indeed much more water resistant than the other models I've worn. The thicker sole provides good protection from rocks and such. They are a bit stiffer in the toes than my other VFF and, due to the water resistance features, they don't breathe quite as well. So, my feet tend to get a bit hotter than usual. But, all in all, I recommend them.

I discovered pearl izumi about a year and a half ago. They are truly the best shoes I have ever worn. I have gone through several pairs already! The good thing is I use them for CrossFit after I've exceeded their miles. I have used both the iso transition and the kissaki and kissaki 2.0. They are worth every penny at regular price. If you are a regular runner(I run 30-35 miles a week)I highly recommend you stock up at these prices. They do run a bit small so I order half a size up. I promise you, you won't regret it.

Like quite a few models of running shoes from Pearl iZUMi these run small. You may be okay ordering your regular size if you intend to wear them without socks. Even then they're tighter than I like. I think they'd be excruciating after a long run.

Also, as another person noted, these look somewhat cheap compared to other models from this brand. They're worth the money if you can get them on sale and in the right size though.

This is my second pair in as many months. My mom always said if the shoe fits then buy it in every color so that's what I am doing. I use these sneaks for lifting, running and elliptical work. Lately I've been trending to less padding in my gym shoes I like more of a minimalist type of shoe and this fits the bill (minus the funky five fingers). I've tried lots of different shoes in my years and I always end up returning to Pearl Izumi. Love all of their shoes.

These shoes are very light weight and comfortable and I love wearing them. However, after about 3 months of wearing them a couple of times each week, the mesh fabric has begun to disentegrate where the shoe bends when I walk. The fabric is light weight and comfortable, but does not hold up to wear. If you need durable shoes to walk in, don't select these

I just bought these at Ross for half the price, and I love them. I've bought athletic shoes a few times and I have never liked them because they were heavy or stiff and uncomfortable. But these are amazing. They are so light weight and very flexible. I have wide feet so one big problem with other athletic shoes is they would hug the sides of my feet too tight and stiffly and it would make my feet hurt pretty bad. These have squishy pillow like pads all around my feet and since they are flexible they aren't stiff around my feet.

Notes: I returned this item for a size 6, as it ran a little small by length (perfect by width). My feet are small and wide, with very high arches and very high insteps. For this reason, I am forced to wear a double wide to get all the way around my foot (across my instep, etc.) Also, I am only a 1 mile a day walker for exercise, done on undulating terrain.

Review: The arch support in these shoes is fantastic. I spent a full day at the Minnesota State Fair two days ago, then spent yesterday walking around in construction zones, for several miles of walking.

I did not get the plantar fascitis which I so commonly get after a day on my feet. I didn't get shin splints (though of course, my calf muscles are sore). I didn't get the heel pain I so commonly get, either.

I have bought Easy Spirit for years, because they had the closest size and width combination, with decent arch support. But these shoes are more sturdily made (the insole doesn't slip in and out, for instance), and they went above and beyond the call of duty when almost brand new.

I will buy them again when this pair wears out.

Since I started exercising regularly eight years ago, I only bought Nike shoes. Because they run small, I would have to get a half-size larger but they fit fine. Then I started having more and more problems finding Nike shoes which fit. Shoes a half-size larger didn't fit anymore and even going up a full size didn't always work. The last pair that I bought last year at the Nike outlet in Las Vegas were OK and I wondered if it was due to them being made in Indonesia, instead of China or Vietnam. However, I had no luck when looking for shoes locally.

So when I saw the Cyber Monday shoe deal and started browsing, I noticed the reviews of the Saucony athletic shoes and was impressed. I decided to order the walking shoe (half-size larger per review comments). I was a bit apprehensive about getting white, leather shoes but when these arrived yesterday, I was so pleased. They are very well-made and amazingly light. I wore them today when I went grocery shopping and didn't realize until I got home that I had not put the inserts (for plantar fasciitis) in the shoes. For the past year, walking any distance without the inserts hasn't been possible. I love these shoes!

The only available product in my size was the black so, I purchased them. BOY! AM I SORRY! My feet were tired after walking in them for less than an hour. They were stiffer than the white shoes I had previously purchased. I would NOT recommend the shoe if it is in BLACK.

Saucony is exclusively the brand of tennis shoe I buy for exercise.

I have had a lot of problems with my feet over the years plantar faciitis, bone spurs, and bursitis. As a result, I wear orthotic inserts in almost all my shoes and because the orthotics are pretty stiff I wear thick socks to provide some cushioning.

I find that buying a half size up 8.5 instead of 8 allows me to accomodate the orthotic inserts and the soft thicker socks.

I also really like the way the heels provide a really stable platform making it much more difficult to supinate or pronate.

I enjoy playing with these shoes a great deal. There really comfortable. The inside sole can not be removed but its is one of the softest i have ever placed my feet on. The outside of the shoe is made of a sleek plastic material not the best but will do the job. The laces are not in the middle of the shoe, they are moved a little to the side in order to give mo room for making contact with the ball. Also there is not a lot of flash and color to them so if your the kind of person who likes to make a statement with having eye catching cleats, these are not for you.

These boots are not a tight fit and like i mentioned are comfortable. Thats why i prefer to wear them during skirmishes or when at the local park. You see i'v been spoiled rotten by my F50's, there super light and the unique feeling they give. I can not play competitive soccer in any other kind of cleats. Don't get me wrong tho these boots handle real well.

internet says they run big. i got an 8 and its perfect (i mostly wear 8.5s, have a couple nike frees and theyre 9s).

i mostly use these for gym activities and a little running. i like them slightly better than anything ive worn b4 but dont love em.

pros:

-theyre light but not tooo light. weight is really good, mb just placebo effect but makes me feel like im not cheating myself when doing pullups and plyo stuff.

-the heel is fairly stiff but has just enough give (was using vans previously which is not as firm, side note is that im really sick of hearing chuck taylors etc. described as having 'a really firm sole w no give' lol)

-i have a slightly wider than average foot, maybe about average. shoe fits very very well in all dimensions but has a very low profile so orthotic type insoles would be impossible (ur heel would be slipping out the back).

cons:

-they arent v supportive laterally. i wouldnt be very comfortable playing bball in these (and i always wear low-top 'running shoes')

-the toe box is 'crinkly'. doesnt have much stuctural integrity, dont like the material they used. not a performance thing, just aesthetically the toe is not a very sweet sihouette. look kinda cheap.

It's no wonder that Messi loves these shoes. * Keep in mind that every foot is different and every shoe company has differnet sizes.

I have to say the shoe is perfectly snug with just enough in the toe box to allow just enough room for the toes to spread apart when making impact with the ground. Adidas typically runs a bit wide compared to Nike but the F10 still manages to stay snug and true to fit.

The synthetic leather upper is fantastic not only for the feel of the ball but the gloss on it really makes it AMAZINGLY easy to clean. Most of the time I just need some water and a paper towel and voila, clean as the day I got them. Even the studs are amazingly easy to clean believeit or not. Adidas really went all out and out did themselves on this one. Normally I'm not a fan of the synthetic stuff but this amazing. Thin but strong enough to withstand some abuse. Plus the gloss really helps with gripping the ball I find, especially a brand new ball. It doesn't really grip as well on full leather balls or worn down balls but it's not incredibly noticible.

Another thing I was intially skeptical about were the studs. I'm used to Nike studs where they are think, long and/or thick and really feel like they could grip and dig into the turf. At first inspection they seemed to stubby for me, which left me thinking: "These are for firm ground?" They even felt as if they were some rubbery light plastic that I thought would break off or wear down quickly. How wrong I ever, ever was. The studs are lightweight and amazingly strong. Great job on the design Adidas. I've tried them on synthetic turf and grass and find they grip better on synthetic rubber turf but I find, only by a small margin. I'm not sure how the other F30 or F50 stack up but these still worked pretty well on grass. However it could become problematic if the turf becomes wet, which is true for all FG shoes. Although it is very thin compared to other leathers (even other synthetics), it is really easy to adjust if it becomes disheveled and allows amazing feeling when power striking. Also they break in quite quickly and really mold to your foot without becoming too large or roomy.

One of the BEST things about this boot is the tab on the tongue of the shoe. It makes putting it on a much easier job. I've had Nike boots before this and although they are great shoes, the tongues were always contoured and rounded, making it a small effort to put them on (not a large drawback but can get annoying. And also not counting the old school flap Tiempos)

The only real drawback would be the laces which are quite thin. However considering the are arranged in asymetrically it's hardly a problem at all since they are out of the way most of the time. I even had a guy step on my foot right on the laces and they still held up to the pounding although I don't think they could handle repeated abuse, which would eventually tear or rip. It does however helps to increase the touch of the ball.

What more can I say about the F10? True it's alittle pricey compared to the T90's that are on sale now but this in my opinion is well worth the money. I love them so much I even got the indoor version for style AND play. The bright yellow really makes you pretty visible and it does come in other colors. I would've prefered the orange ones but the yellows are quite nice as well. (Messi does switch between colors on his boots and he has worn the yellow ones in case anyone is wondering) Still it's worth the money and again, amazingly well made.

It has been 3 months since I've bought this and I can say that it was worth the buy. I haven't played everyday but the days I play ball, I'm the envy of the field. Lol..... If you want a good pair of kicks for your ballgame get this one.

Cons.

If I run in them for a long period they start to squeeze my toes. I don't know if it's caused by the duration of play but this is the only issue I have.

I absolutely love these shoes! I received a pair as a gift, then bought another pair 2 weeks later to stash in my closet until I wear these out. The red f-lite 195s are hard to find! I got a 1/2 size smaller than my normal size, which is common for minimal/barefoot shoes. They're extremely lightweight and comfortable!

I wear these to referee youth soccer games. They are slightly wider than most Nike or Adidas turf soccer shoes and are of good quality. I would have preferred white striping as opposed to silver but otherwise, they look good and are comfortable. They fit like most Asics shoes, true to size. The rubber cleats are deep enough to provide good traction on grass and artificial turf

I have very narrow feet from heel to toe and these shoes fit me very snugly with light socks, which is what I prefer. Because of the design of the shoe, they also offer very good arch support in my opinion. These are by far some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned, and I do not even use them for football/soccer.

I own two pairs and they have held up quite well with no discernable "falling apart at the seams" after several months of use in all weather conditions save snow.

In terms of color, the black is matte and understated, while the blue, which I also own, are quite lustrous, which has led to me getting some ribbing from people...who apparently do not know how awesome electric blue shoes are.

Enjoy.
