New Balance Women's WT20v2 Minimus Trail Running Shoe Reviews

I read literally hundreds of Amazon reviews on how this shoe fit before ordering and had a bit of a sizing struggle so wanted to write this review in hopes that it might help someone else. :-)

First I tried model WT20v1 (first version). I wanted to love this shoe but it ran very small in comparison to the WT20v2 model. The width and toe box are the same dimensions in both models but the length is very different. I normally wear a size 8.5 or 9 in running shoes and ordered both sizes. Couldn't even get the 8.5 on. The 9 fit but was very snug and I could have used a 9.5 (and I've never gone that large in shoes before). I also ordered both sizes in the WT20v2 and what a difference! There is roughly 3/4 inch difference in length between a size 9 in each model, with the WT20v2 being longer.. .it was actually too big for me. The size difference between the 9 in WT20v1 and a size 8.5 in the WT20v2 was around 1/4 inch, with the smaller size WT20v2 STILL being larger than the size 9 of the former shoe! I also felt like I had more "wiggle" room in the WT20v2, even though it was a half size smaller than the other model. I am better able to splay out my toes more for a more natural bare-foot style run.

Both shoes felt basically the same, but I like the sole and traction better on the WT20v2. . it also seemed to have a bit more support. So if you like the original WT20v1, then I would suggest ordering up at least a whole size (especially if you have long toes like me. My foot is not wide, at all!) The WT20v2 is more true to size and you can order your normal shoe size and it should work out very well. I ended up going with a size 8.5 in the WT20v2 and couldn't be happier. Oh, I also got the pink shoe and the color is not quite as vibrant as what I see on the computer monitor. It is more of a raspberry pink and very pretty. I absolutely love the Minimus once you work around the funky sizing! Just my two cents.

I tried three different pairs of New Balance barefoot running shoes. The first was a mens Minimus 10, they were a pretty good fit, but the colors and styling weren't for me. So I looked on Amazon and found the Minimus 20 and bought the same size as the Minimus 10.

They arrived, and I tore open the box and put them on to find that they were probably 2 sizes too big! How can this happen, they are exactly the same size. They had to be returned at some expense to then get the women's version in a much smaller size. These felt a bit big too... Starting to get frustrated. Kept them, though need to wear thicker socks than normal.

It's like the very thin fabric used to make the Minimus 20 means that you need 1.5 to 2 sizes smaller than you would normally buy. There's no bulk at all to pad out the shoe, like in a regular running shoe. So they are a bit of a strange fit for a first timer.

Aside from that, they are super light, a little hot, have a very sticky sole that wears quickly (so I try to keep mine for trails only and not the road). They look good and feel good and I like them. There is plenty of competition out there in this market, and it'll probably pay to shop around for the best fit before committing to a particular brand.

The second review...

This is an addition to my first review which was written before the shoes weren't used extensively. Have the shoes been used extensively now... no. Not the shoes fault, but more mine. My sheer enthusiasm to get out and run trails with this new style of shoe, lead to an injury, and there hasn't been much running since. Needed to ease into barefoot running.

The reason for the second review is that with only 6 times being used, the shoes developed holes on one side. Where the right little toe rubbed on the fabric and just below that where the shoe bends. I was surprised and disappointed that this happened to a relatively brand new pair of shoes. What poor quality! Based on this, I really couldn't recommend these shoes. I think there are cheaper barefoot running shoes out there that would have to be more sturdy.

This shoe runs a little long in my opinion but I wear socks and it is comfortable. I feel silent running in this shoe because it is very quiet against the ground. Looks good!

My only complaint is the inside of my right shoe, on the bottom, in the toe area, I can feel the seam. I was going to return it because maybe this is a defect but I had already run 4 miles in them and they were muddy so I decided not to return them and just taped the inside of my shoe. No one will ever know and I don't feel the seam anymore. Looks good too :) I am happy.

To get an idea what I like. My previous running shoe was the New Balance WT560 love it!!! I still use this shoe for pavement running because it has more "cusion". I did NOT like the original WT20 at all. It was too short. I am glad I heard about them making this v2, which is longer. I am size 10 in running shoes. 9.5 in regular shoes.

Hope this helps! It's hard to buy shoes online.

Awesome shoes, have owned similar NB styles previously great fit, comfort and all the rest. Unfortunately this pair were poorly made and both shoes developed holes in the upper mesh of the shoe after only 2 weeks of very light use. Very disappointed, but as always Amazon were quick to respond & assist with a refund.

This shoe would be PERFECT if it wasn't for the fact that it is a size too long and the toe bed is very wide. I have read on other sites that the WT20 v1 fits more narrow and true to size. So, if your feet need shoes that run wide and long go for this model the WT20v2. It really is a shame that they do not fit me.

I own this shoe in adult 6.5, and it fits wonderfully. It has excellent support, and walking just flat out feels better with this model than with any other shoe I've tried on.

I ordered this shoe in a size 4.5, which should correspond to the adult 6.5, but it was too tight on my larger foot. I found that it didn't seem as cushy as the adult version. I am unsure if this is because I tried it on in a size that was too small, or if it is genuinely lower quality than the adult version. I sent it back because of how ill fitting it was.

Ever since I started to wear Kayano 19, I refuse to wear any other shoes. I exercise and dance a lot. It used to cause pain on my feet. These shoes fit so well and protect my feet very nicely.

I purchased these in a 4.5 and they are a bit big for my women's size 5 foot. I should have gone with the 4 but with an insole and thicker sock these are perfection. They are exactly like the women's version and offer the same great quality that asics always provides, only a fraction of the price! If you an adult who is fortunate enough to be able to buy kids shoes for yourself, this is a great option. My mother who is a size 7.5 women's owns the exact same pair and there is no difference other than the size and the price tag. I've been an active runner for the past year and a half and already been wearing these shoes for the past week. They are amazing and a great value. FYI, the women's version is upwards of $140, depending on where you purchase them.

My only complaint is that this model only comes in this one color and style. I wish there were more options for Big Kid's like there are for women. However, it is something I will gladly overlook seeing how much money I was able to save by purchasing these instead of the adult version.

I tried this exact shoe on in the store. I love it. It cost $150.00. The 6.5 fit perfectly, it's the size I wear in all running shoes. I went home and ordered this shoe at Amazon because it was only $90.00. It is the exact shoe I tried on in the store. I got the shoe, it was huge. It looks huge and it fits like a whole size larger. I sent it back. Just got another pair today, same thing. The shoe is huge next to my 6.5 size shoes. I asked friends and family what they thought. They all said the shoe looks like a size 7.5 not a 6.5. I am so disappointed because this shoe fit me perfectly in the store, and I have such a hard time finding just the right fit.

Cheap New Balance Men's MT1110 Trail Running Shoe

I ordered a pair of these as a replacement for an old pair. I've owned a MT1110GT for years. They are 13 2E and they are comfortable. I ordered a 13 4E. When they arrived I tried them on and found they were too snug. About 1/2" shorter and a little narrower than my old pair. I matched the soles of the 2 shoes up; new against old and yes, the new pair is smaller. Very disappointed. I can't imagine why New Balance would change the sizing and call them the same. The new shoes look well made, nice finish, but with a changing of the sizing, i've given them a low rating.

Best Deals on New Balance Men's MT1110 Trail Running Shoe

I wore the same pair of New Balance MT474FC shoes for about three years (I know, bad idea) and had worn through the heel fabric. The shoes had also taken on a permanent Alladin-esque up-curve when not on my feet. They were definitely due for replacement. I loved the subdued gray-on-gray color scheme and was concerned when looking for new shoes since they all seem to be overly colorful. I'm not into 'look at me' clothing. I have a destroyed ankle (talor dome defect, OCD cyst, old fracture, scar tissue, bone spurs), so finding a comfortable shoe is critical as age brings out the pain more and more. I finally decided on these NB trail runners based on positive reviews and the look of the shoe. Here are some details to consider:

Color: I was hesitant of the bright orange highlights, but after wearing them I realized it isn't bad at all. In jeans, the top splash of color is hidden and the over-all grayness is very subtle. When walking, there is a flash of the orange soles, but I actually like that. It makes me feel somewhat more 'hip' than my 41 years may otherwise allow. On a trail, my flash, or lack there of, is the least of my concerns.

Comfort: The fit is snug in width, but comfortable. I've always worn normal-width shoes, but these seem slightly narrow on my feet. They're still wide enough, but snug. Like most new shoes, the firmness and support are great after almost a month, that hasn't decreased.

Traction: Awesome. I can't imagine a trail these can't handle, yet they are still comfortable on concrete.

Sizing: My last pair of NB shoes were an 11, but I decided to bump up to an 11.5 to allow a bit more toe room for longer trails (foot swelling, toe rub, etc) and it's a great fit. Many folks say these run a half size too small, and that seems to be accurate. On a shoe store foot sizer, I register 10.5 which would mean I should be in 11's for tennis shoe comfort (hence my previous size), so the 11.5 in these new shoes fits the half-size theory well.

Lacing: Somehow, the laces don't really let you over tighten them a big bonus for comfort. Also, the laces are 'bumpy' and have a certain grippiness that keeps them tied all day long. This may be a trend in newer shoes, I don't know. But it's a definite plus. The laces are quite long and almost require double knotting to keep the ends off the ground once tied.

Overall, I've fallen in love with these shoes. The look, comfort, and support have led me to look for excuses to wear them around. If you're looking for quality at a decent price, but want to avoid a sparkly rainbow on your feet, this is a great option.

My son has dropped arch's and severe pronation from fast weight gain from all chemo meds. For whatever reason I have always had trouble finding shoes that really made my feet comfortable. A few years back, after doing some research, I discovered the New Balance M1122MC (The single M is for "Men", the MC is for "Motion Control"). I have been wearing this shoe, and its previous incarnations, for several years now and without a doubt this is the best shoe I have ever worn. It's is built around what New Balance calls an SL-2 last (or "mold") and and the extra room that this gives my foot in the toe box makes all the difference in the world. With out a doubt this is my Number 1 choice in shoes!

While I'm not a runner, I bought these on advice from others that have to walk on concrete as part of their job. The anti roll and cushion soles are the best support I've had for my feet in a long time. I ended up buying a second pair, one set for work, and the other for home and biking.

yeah, we know its for parkour. but for some reason, when this shoe came out, it came in all sorts of colors, like black/grey, purple/teal, yellow/white, orange/black, green/white, white/silver, black/white.

my first pair was orange/blacks. it was a few years back. it was well made, and fit nicely like a climbing shoe over the foot. in which case, i had to get a half size down from my usual size, so that my toes could touch the tips of the shoes, so that i would have more "feel" of the surfaces that i scrambled, jumped, slide, and twisted around.

the cushioning on the heel wasnt so much forward like a running shoe, or sideways like a basketball shoe. the "tubes" ran at a diagonal, so that based on how your foot landed or torqued itself, there was better traction. the front of the shoe had this "sticky" rubber outsole that ran front to back. the treads were wider to help "grip" to surfaces better. this proved to be very helpful when landing on a rail balls of feet down.

now the shoe is very light, and the front has foam like padding material on the front that stablizes the landing better from a balls of feet, then heel down motion. now a more normal shoe with the same padding would feet uncomfortable right above the toes as it touches down.

i'm not so sure if this is the right shoe for everyone as the price and how durable it is makes a factor in owning this shoe. i'm out doing parkour maybe 4 days a week. the shoe not only loses its grip in a matter of months, but the cushioning also squishes down greatly. the foamy material makes it harder to clean as well.

i've worn the grey/blacks. the orange/blacks. now i've got a pair of the purple/teals. the ones i just got isnt the same as the original ones. the heel is bigger, and the sizing doesnt fit as snug. the grip is still the same.

there's actually a couple good shoes there on the market that seems better. the alien glow freerunner by fiveten is stickier, but not so good cushioning. toss in a misoul, and it works fine. they dont make it anymore, but the kswiss 18s is by far the best parkour shoe out there. plus its only 30 bucks.

PRO TIP!!

to prolong "stickiness" of k-swiss ariake, brush bottom of shoe after each day's use with an old toothbrush. also stay out of hiking trails. the brown dirt thats really dusty has trouble being cleaned off of these shoes whether its on the body or the bottom. try not to use chemicals such as alcohol or shoe cleaning products on the bottom of the shoes, as they tend to dry out the stickiness, and can sometimes take out the softness that is what makes the shoe "grip."

if after several months of use, and the shoe has somehow lost its stickiness, you can hold the two shoes sole to sole, and rub the two soles together, in a circular motion gently, but enough to bring back the stickiness of the soles. (notethis is only for the frontal section of the bottom of the shoe.)

stay safe, and flow hard.

This shoe is just what I was looking for. I'm ordering my second pair today. They have serious cushioning both heel and midfoot and are extremely flexible in the sole considering the amount of cushioning. I wanted to decrease the heel to toe drop in my shoe and increase the flexibility as I was having shin splints in Asics Nimbus 13, which are also well cushioned and but much less flexible, probably designed for a neutral runner who weighs about 50 pounds more than I do. I'm a relatively light (120 lbs), neutral, half-marathon runner with slight under-pronation. I do not have a high arch; the under-pronation comes from being a bit knock-kneed.

The fit is very comfortable for me, my feet are medium width through the heel and midfoot and maybe approaching wide in the toe area. The heels do not slip even though I size up 1.5 sizes larger than my street shoe size for running.

My only real complaint regarding their performance on the road is that the sole is showing more wear than is typical at about 100 miles of use. However, everything else is so great that I will just refill earlier than usual with a smile on my face.

They are probably the most breathable running shoe I've worn, and while that is great on the roads in hot, dry weather, they let in the water more than average in when running through wet grass, or in the rain. They also let in an impressive amount of fine dust in the toe area when running dirt roads or trails (but not enough to stop me from wearing them in those situations).

If only they made the same shoe with a more aggressive trail outsole option. This outsole is fine for your average easy pace trail run in dry weather, but at higher speeds or in wet weather or on technical terrain, they would be more of a liability than your average road shoe. If Asics designed a sister trail shoe and could preserve the cushioning and flexibility and add a more aggressive outsole, I would buy that, too, despite the lack of a rock plate and the dirty toes.

As long as I'm wishing, I'd also wish for a shoe that is almost all one color, preferably a bright, fun color. I definitely didn't pick them for the way they look.

I picked up a pair of these last month when I'd gone out of town and left my workout shoes at home. These were on sale at the store I went to. Normally, I'm a solid 6 1/2-if anything, I tend to go down to a 6. But, I had to buy these in a 7 to fit comfortably.

I didn't expect to like them as much as I did! I actually bought 2 pairs through Amazone-1 in pink and 1 in purple. I've received many compliments on the pink (I've worn the purple indoors at home only).

I am using these shoes for high intensity interval training-lots of jumping, quick floor movements. They are very stable, provide a good amount of support, and cushion my feet very well.

I love these so much. I usually wear nike's to workout which usually consists of dancing and weight lifting, but since I started to run those just wouldn't cut it. I love these so much. I no longer get shin splints, and it really keeps my foot in the right place when I run. I also usually had knee and hip pain when I ran (I'm only 25 so that shouldn't be happening..) and with these, nothing hurts.

I have three pairs of these in different colors. They feel so comfortable like an athletic slipper. I wear a size 41 which is between 10 and 11 women's shoes. I buy size 11 in this shoe and it fits perfectly. I have had issues with plantar fasciitis and these do not aggravate it, they keep me going for the next day. I wish someone could make a heeled shoe that feels like these!

AVIA Men's I Shape Toners Review

This is probably only my 2nd review ever for any product, but I felt I needed to share my experiences with others with similar feet problems. I've been having foot heel pain for the past year and it's progressively gotten worse. I thought I shattered my heel bone the pain was so bad but it looks like I have Plantar Fasciitis resulting from my flat feet. I've tried all types of shoes, New Balance, Nike, Thick sole boots and the Sketcher I shapes. The sketchers felt good at first but my pain never went away. I had begun to just accept that this is how it's going to be from now on.

Not even looking for them, I found the Avia Toners on sale so I tried them on. I immediately noticed that my heel that has the most pain did not hurt when I walked. It's just the opposite; the rocking on the super high spongy arch actually made it feel good to walk. There is so much cushion I can't feel the floor impact what so ever. I've had these shoes over a month now and can you believe I'm playing basketball twice a week again. However, I would not recommend playing full speed in them as the crescent shape underneath may result in you rolling your ankle.

I know it's the shoes that helped me as when we went out to a nice restaurant I had to put on my nice pair of Dockers. These shoes are also cushioned nicely but I barely made it back home due to the pain. Now, I know these shoes helped my condition, but they are so much more comfortable than anything I've ever owned in the past. All shoes should be designed to conform to the arch like these. There was another post on this site that gave a negative comment for quality. So far mine are as good as day one and I wear them even when I'm doing some lite construction work outside.

BTW, I just ordered two more pairs in-case these are ever discontinued.

The AVIA I Shape shoe is a little weird when you first put it on; the arch support is a bit high, causing your foot to be at a different angle than most other shoes. It takes a bit of time to get used to it; after a while (I have had the shoes for a couple of months now) your foot grows accustomed to it, and you don't even notice. What I like about these shoes is that when I play table tennis a lot for two to three hours at a time on a cement floor (it is hard on my feet and knees), these shoes mitigate the negative effects of the hard floor to a large extent (they aren't perfect, but they are the best I have found). The shoes are well made (good quality leather, good craftsmanship--but made in China like everything else). I don't know how well they work muscles in your feet (they are advertised to give your feet muscles some exercise), but I find them comfortable, well made, and good grip soles. I now have two pair of them (I am always afraid when I like something it will be discontinued).

I purchased these exact toning shoes 2 years ago and walk the same route approximately 4 miles a day. These wore very well, held up fantastic and worked as advertised. When I saw the need to replace them, of course I came to Amazon to buy them. I received the new pair right before Christmas and by New Years day, the right heel rubber had separated from the sole. Amazon was first rate in sending out a new pair with return shipping on the old. As of today, 1/24/12 the rubber on the heel of the replacement pair is almost worn through. I don't know if the materials used has changed but it seems the quality of these shoes have been compromised in the last 2 years. As far as the rating system, Amazon would get 5 stars from me for their excellent customer service. UPDATE 1/30/12 Not only are the rubber heels almost worn through, I've now discovered both soles are starting to crack side to side in the back third of the shoe. If you are an avid walker, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND these shoes due to their lack of durability

I work in a hospital and I must say these are the most comfortable shoes i have ever owned. I placed Dr. Scholls gels in them and wow it was like my feet smiled.

This is my second pair, as a nurse I am on my feet for eight straight hours and I feel that the shoe is helping me walk. It feels great on, it is not heavy but it gives good support to the foot in both forward and lateral motion. It is unfortunate that they have stopped producing this shoe for men.

My daughter says these shoes are very comfortable and she loves that she can change out the colors on them. Her current Nike's are a size 2M (getting small), so I ordered these in a size 3M and she says they are very comfortable. They probably run true to size and she needed the next size up anyway. After 3 games, we are amazed at how white they still are!

I purchased this item for my granddaughter for cheerleading. Liked the look of the shoe and the flexibility. She has a wide foot and this is too tight with the thick socks they are required to wear. Would like to return and get credit for this item.

These shoes run true to fit and are the lightest I've worn (I'm not someone who is interested in minimalist running shoes and my understanding is that these are about as light as you can get and still get the cushioned sole, which I like). The yellow is definitely bright, which i like even brighter than evidenced in the picture a virtual neon, actually. This is about the fifth pair of New Balance shoes I have owned for running. I used to wear Nike (several pairs) but find these a perfect blend of weight and comfort. If you want a very lightweight shoe but don't want to give up the comfort of a cushioned sole, these are for you.

This shoe is not quite as minimal as some others but it makes for a very comfortable fit and its added bounce can help longer runs or days when the feet need a break somewhat.
