I saw these at my local athletic apparel store and loved the lightweight feel to them. Also liked the breathability of the shoes. Although I'm still not convinced that less padding is better than the bulkier running shoes I've normally used, these are a good shoe for going in that direction.

Cheap PUMA Women's Faas 500 V2 Running Shoe
The shoes arrived in a shoe box covered with brown packing paper. They fit well. They are comfortable for fast walking. I am pleased with the fluorescent look so as to let drivers know there is a runner on the side of the road.

I wanted to write a review because some of the negative reviews seemed to weigh general shoe preference too high...if your foot just doesn't fit or you don't like these, this isn't the shoe for you, but it doesn't make it a bad product.
For amateur minor running...five or six 5k interval workouts per week...I found these to be perfect. I'm working my way to be able to run a 5k at my goal time at the 'drop of a hat,' but I can experience shin soreness, plantar fascia tension/soreness and foot pad chaffing after pushing myself. These shoes solved all three of these problems, so I give them high accolades for the build.
I like that they're relatively lightweight without feeling insubstantial, and they are also durable...I've logged about 150 kilometers on them, and while they're showing this they clearly have a way to go before they're ready for retirement and banishment to the garden, ha.
So, these are a great option for someone looking to use them for daily gym workouts and intermediate distance running. If I were training for a marathon or 10k (not gonna happen) I might look at a higher priced shoe, but for day to day use these are great while affordable enough to trade out every 500 kilometers.

These shoes were unbelievably bad. I only wear New Balance because they are the easiest shoes for me to get in 13W. I have never had any problems with any of my NB shoes, but these were garbage in under a month. In less than 4 weeks both the rubber part of the sole on the bottom of the shoe had all of its "nubs" worn completely off as well as the fabric and foam on the inside of the shoe warn through. They were only used for normal use as well as about 40 minutes a day on an elliptical machine. This is definitely not enough use for a pair of shoes to become worthless in under a month. I am an avid jogger who jogs at least 5 miles at least 3 to 4 times a week, mostly on the beach and the side walks in my neighborhood. I have been a customer of New Balance sneakers for years and I have yet to be disappointed. The M580 is no different it is comfortable before, during and after my runs. It allows my feet to breathe and expand with little or no moisture buildup. The shoe is well constructed, stable and giving on the feet. I gave it 5 stars for these reasons. I highly recommend it to those looking for a good sneaker that is reasonably priced.
Hi-Tec Men's Altitude IV Hiking Boot Reviews
These have been great boots. I am on my fourth pair of the Altitude seriesa version I, version II, and now 2 version IVs. All have been good buys for me. The version IV have been the best but all have been good.
First, I have a high arch and have always been hard on any footwear with a tendency to walk on the 'outside' of my foot. I wear these boots to travel in and work in while traveling. Many a mile in airports, many miles on concrete, gravel, dirt, and inside simulation facilities. When I travel I tend to only take these boots my work rarely requires dress clothes, the boots look good in an open collar work environment, they are comfortable, and taking only 1 pair of shoes does cuts down on packing requirements quite a bit for longer trips (3 weeks or longer in duration).
I have taken these boots on three overseas trips they did well in the Scottish highlands (twice), and London. They did equally well on the beaches of Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, and Cancun. They have done me well in wet and sand hot and cold.
To add to this endorsement, not only am I hard on shoes I am also quite fat these days topping 300 pounds. For my health I maintain a walking routine of 1-3 miles a day whenever possible. When I travel, these boots are also my walking shoes.
In general Hi Tec have always fit me well. I go back 40 or so years to wearing the Lite series of Hi Tecs while I was in my running the Appalachians days. Given my high arches, a tendency for very bad calluses, rebuilt right ankle, 2 knees that varied doctors have wanted to cut on since early Army days, and now my weight I am very picky on shoes. These are the best of the Hi Tec boot types that I have found.
I suspect I have seen the best of my current set of boots maybe six more months or so of regular wear till they become yard work shoes till their final demise. I have never worn out the uppers in these boots. I have worn the sole down to a smooth surface and worn out the insides (after using new insole inserts a couple of times). They are tough boots.
And I have a back up pair ready to take the place of the current set.
On a down side, these style of boots (in general, not just Hi Tec) are not sturdy enough for doing squats in Power Lifting circles. One needs a higher and stiffer boot than what the modern ilk of hikers provides. This is the only limitation I have found for these boots.
Recently on a trip to western North Carolina, I went hiking with a group of friends from the area. I soon found that my best New Balance shoes were not up to the task: the terrain soon overwhelmed them, and as the day went on, their ability to support my 200 lb. body failed. By the end of the day, my feet hurt so bad that I could barely walk. I was told that I absolutely needed to find a good pair of hiking boots if I was going to continue hiking.
I am one of those people who first do a lot of research before I make a new purchase, comparing features, price, availability, technical reviews, and feedback from those who have already made their choice. In the price range I was looking for, the signs all pointed to Hi-Tech. Lots of folks carried them, but Amazon's price was clearly the best. And so, tentatively, I ordered a pair.
I have now been wearing these boots for three months, and I have yet to put my New Balance back on for everyday use. I still wear business shoes to work, and the New Balance to run in, but the Hi-Tech Altitude IVs are absolutely my favorite. Why?
1. The fit was perfect from the first time I put them on. In fact, I would have to say my feet felt better in them almost immediately. The width was exactly as I needed, and the arch was just high enough to give me full support for a full day and still enable me to do everything I need.
2. They needed no "break-in period" and felt right from the first time I wore them. Even the desert boots I wore in the Middle East needed some period to adjust to my feet and to the way I walk, and the steel-toed work boots I bought from Wal-Mart still hurt my feet (after occasional wear for over a year). But these feel like an extension of my feet and skin.
3. They are waterproof, yet still allow my feet to breathe. Even my kids no longer run out of the room when I take my boots off (which used to be a regular joke around my house).
4. They seem to be wearing like iron. After three months, I cannot see any wear at all, not even negligible amounts. So I won't be buying another pair for a while.
All in all, these boots have my STRONGEST recommendation. You may find more costly boots, but I challenge you to find any that are significantly better.

La Sportiva Men's Pamir Hiking Boot Reviews
This is an awesome heavy-duty backpacking boot. It falls between a sturdier athletic-inspired day-hiker and the full tilt mountaineering boots. Very nicely crafted with excellent materials glove leather lining is a really nice alternative to the fabrics in lower priced boots. Good, stiff rocker sole that has just a little flex. Great traction for most conditions just don't plan to get a good grip on wet, moss covered rocks as these (like all stiff soled boots) won't conform to the contours underfoot. Not waterproof (and not intended to be), but fine for damp conditions and breathe much better than waterproof GoreTex boots.
Sizing runs on the small side go up about a full US size (I usually wear a 9.5, but the 43.5/10.5 was perfect 43's were a bit short).
Even wet rocks can get you slipping around. I like the fit and great workmanship of the boot but the rubber soles hate wet surfaces. That is the only issue that I have with these boots.
So if it is a rainy day and you are going to be on any flat surface be extremely careful! I wish that La Sportiva would remake this boot so it handles better on wet surfaces!

Sadly, I do not get to carry a whip or a gun and I have never had to run from poisonous dart blowing natives. I do, however, direct a substantial survey project in the mountainous northern regions of Mongolia. As part of this project I hike several kilometers each and every day for several months each summer. Needless to say I have gone through my fair share of hiking boots and as such, I feel well qualified to talk to the greatness of the Pamir boot.

I bought these planning to brake them in for 2 weeks before a trip up a mountain, instead I wore them the day after getting them down Tallulah Gorge. They were awesome from bouldering to climbing out of the gorge floor on a 800 foot invert. No blisters or any sore spots. Best boots I have ever had, and just got them. The quality of the materials in this boot are second to none. The tough outer leather is waterproof and easy to clean, while the inner lambskin liner is soft, breathable, and most importantly, comfortable. I've noticed that the boots do not smell bad at all after wearing for 8+ hours. They are pretty stiff out of the box but they required a very small amount of break in-time, in which i just wore them out to run errands and things for a couple of weeks. At first the sole did not seem to give any traction at all but after a few miles they began to work really well. These boots should last about 15 years I think. The insoles they come with aren't great, so I replaced them with some super feet greens and am now in heaven. Nike Women's Air Pegasus+ 30 Running Shoes Review
As an underpronator, I'm generally told to look for a running shoe that is cushioned, flexible, and has arch support but no stability features. The cushion is to offset the fact that my foot is rather rigid (which is why it doesn't roll in to the neutral position). I need impact to be absorbed, so I don't hurt myself. The flexibility is to encourage my foot to roll inward in much as it is willing to do so. And the arch support reduces the affect of impact on my arch, and as a result helps me avoid plantar fasciitis (which I have suffered from in the past).
This shoe meets all the above criteria. Despite being incredibly well cushioned, it somehow also manages to be flexible in the forefoot. The middle section of the shoe wraps my foot snugly, lending arch support. I feel both secure and comfortable in this shoe. Also, this shoe is lighter than some other cushioned shoes I've tried. In short, I love it!
Sizing note: My non-running shoes are all 8-8.5. My running shoes are generally size 9. I need a 9.5 in these, to get the roominess that is recommended for when feet swell during running.

My kid loves DC so he loves them. These shoes look good wearing them on the track. However, short dashes are better off for these. If you run too long on the track with these, it will hurt the top of your foot and the inner-middle bottom of your foot. It hurts the top of my feet because of the material. Overall, these shoes are okay. I say that because the price was $30, which is a good deal. any more than that deserves two stars.-This is a real review. Check my other reviews to believe me.

Cheap RxSorbo Sorbothane Classic Insole
Back in 1982, when I was obviously a much younger man, I played a lot of competitive tennis. Back then, after a season of playing 3-set matches almost every day, my knees began to hurt especially on landing after each serve. A friend suggested I put a pair of these sorbothane insoles into my sneakers and the pain magically disappeared. It didn't take days or weeks to notice the results they were apparent the very next time I was on the court.
Now, 30 years later, I'm playing a lot of tennis again and needless to say this aging body of mine has more aches and pains. I could compensate by easing up on my game, but where's the fun in that? I started looking around for the same "plain vanilla" insoles I had used so successfully in the past but all the newfangled models seemed frighteningly over-engineered with different kinds of arch and heel supports and multiple zones. It all seemed too complex.
Recently I saw a listing for these basic, nothing-fancy Isolate It! Sorbothane Classic Insoles and bought a pair. I used them today for the first time and after 2 fierce hours on the court I can tell you that I have almost no pain and remarkably little fatigue. Since I play 3 or 4 times a week I'm comparing apples to apples I know the level of pain and fatigue I usually experience. These things just work.
I remember when I first tried them 30 years ago I'd read that they coated submarines with sorbothane because it was so shock absorbing it made them stealthily invisible to sonar. Whether or not that's true, they seemed to have made my feet and legs nearly invisible to pain. It's like stealth technology for tender feet and knees.
I had a pair of the classic sorbothane insoles, which I didn't use because the heel was simply too thick (raising my heel too high for the boot to grip). BUT -I cut them in half and mated them to a pair of Arch Cradles by Pedifix (Amazon sells them; make sure to get the right size) Pedifix Arch Cradles. The PediFix arch cradles are the best heel-cup/arch/metatarsal support insoles I have ever found. They taper forward to a thin edge designed not to be felt by your foot. However, they do nothing to absorb shock or cushion the forefoot. Which is where my fix comes in.
Sorbothane, being a dense elastic plastic with superb shock absortion and excellent heat resistance, grinds down without melting. I was able to cut my old sorbothane insoles in half and taper them with my belt sander to match the taper of the PediFix insoles. I taped them together and found that I had created the perfect insole...almost. Because there is room in my boots to do so, I also added a pair of standard Spenco FLAT neoprene insoles on top for extra cushioning. I used them on my last climb of the season (Longs Peak, a 14 mile hike with more than 5K' elevation gain and loss) and my feet, while tired, did not hurt at the end. The combination was unbeatable. The Spenco insoles are good for one season, but are relatively cheap to replace.
Now, this may seem like a lot of work. But, for me, a guy who's been hiking for 50 years and does it a LOT, it was well worth the effort. How my feet feel at the end of the day is priceless. Now if someone would only make such a product...
ALSO note: Sorbothane is available in sheet form Isolate It!: Sorbothane Vibration Damping Sheet Stock 50 Duro (1/8 x 12 x12in) which is cheaper than the insoles. 1/8" is the thickness of the insole's forefoot.
A word on insoles that come standard in shoes: they exist for in-store comfort, and do you virtually no good in normal use. I never buy a show without a removable insole I can replace with something that works.
A word on flat insoles: many, such as Superfeet (way overpriced IMHO), have excellent heel cups, but no metatarsal support (a "bump" that the fleshy part of your foot rides on that's just behind the metatarsal -ball of foot -bones). The Pedifix insoles may feel a little funny at first, but wear them for 5 minutes and that feeling disappears.

I used them today for the first time and after 2 fierce hours on the court I can tell you that I have almost no pain and remarkably little fatigue. Since I play 3 or 4 times a week I'm comparing apples to apples I know the level of pain and fatigue I usually experience. These things just work.
I remember when I first tried them 30 years ago I'd read that they coated submarines with sorbothane because it was so shock absorbing it made them stealthily invisible to sonar. Whether or not that's true, they seemed to have made my feet and legs nearly invisible to pain. It's like stealth technology for tender feet and knees.

After I had the cartilege removed from both knees it had been painful to walk on hard surfaces like concrete and tile and sometimes even hardwood floors. I put these in my walking shoes and now there's never any pain from walking or running. I've seen professional orthotists cut custom-shaped insoles from a big sheet of Sorbothane and charge $80 for them. The Sorbothane seems to do the shcok absorbing that the cartileges used to do. These are heavier than other inserts but they wear like iron. I've had mine almost 20 years, and they don't pick up odors or smell at all. If you don't like the extra weight for running in a competition or playing sports, get a pair of the other Sorbothane inserts that just have bands of (black) Sorbothane in the heal and the ball of the foot area for that use.Best Deals on RxSorbo Sorbothane Classic Insole
I have used these insoles for many years and they are great for running, walking, and standing on your feet all day. I am 6'3" and 250 LBS. These insoles have given my knees new life. I'm an avid hiker who climbed 11 14ers and countless other ridges in 2012. My problem had always been my bony feet with high arches -which limited my hike length (I called mine "10-mile feet"). I've cobbled my own insoles together for years, but hadn't found the right solution until recently.I had a pair of the classic sorbothane insoles, which I didn't use because the heel was simply too thick (raising my heel too high for the boot to grip). BUT -I cut them in half and mated them to a pair of Arch Cradles by Pedifix (Amazon sells them; make sure to get the right size) Pedifix Arch Cradles. The PediFix arch cradles are the best heel-cup/arch/metatarsal support insoles I have ever found. They taper forward to a thin edge designed not to be felt by your foot. However, they do nothing to absorb shock or cushion the forefoot. Which is where my fix comes in.
Sorbothane, being a dense elastic plastic with superb shock absortion and excellent heat resistance, grinds down without melting. I was able to cut my old sorbothane insoles in half and taper them with my belt sander to match the taper of the PediFix insoles. I taped them together and found that I had created the perfect insole...almost. Because there is room in my boots to do so, I also added a pair of standard Spenco FLAT neoprene insoles on top for extra cushioning. I used them on my last climb of the season (Longs Peak, a 14 mile hike with more than 5K' elevation gain and loss) and my feet, while tired, did not hurt at the end. The combination was unbeatable. The Spenco insoles are good for one season, but are relatively cheap to replace.
Now, this may seem like a lot of work. But, for me, a guy who's been hiking for 50 years and does it a LOT, it was well worth the effort. How my feet feel at the end of the day is priceless. Now if someone would only make such a product...
ALSO note: Sorbothane is available in sheet form Isolate It!: Sorbothane Vibration Damping Sheet Stock 50 Duro (1/8 x 12 x12in) which is cheaper than the insoles. 1/8" is the thickness of the insole's forefoot.
A word on insoles that come standard in shoes: they exist for in-store comfort, and do you virtually no good in normal use. I never buy a show without a removable insole I can replace with something that works.
A word on flat insoles: many, such as Superfeet (way overpriced IMHO), have excellent heel cups, but no metatarsal support (a "bump" that the fleshy part of your foot rides on that's just behind the metatarsal -ball of foot -bones). The Pedifix insoles may feel a little funny at first, but wear them for 5 minutes and that feeling disappears.

I ride a single cylinder bike. The vibration transmitted through the foot pegs eventually puts my feet to sleep. The Sorbothane insoles put an end to that. I can ride much farther between breaks now.

I love this shoe. Great shoe, great price. It is perfect for dry conditions hiking, and I have even used it on the AT with expedition weight Smartwool socks when it was a little damp. Very comfortable right out of the box apparently no break-in period is required. I got the waterproof version which is definitely waterproof, but being low-cut, this is more applicable to keeping dew from soaking through the uppers than walking in a stream. One small quibble the soft foam rubber that makes it so comfortable is exposed on the sides, so if you run into a sharp object (I snagged mine on the head of a nail), it can take a chunk out of it. Keen would have been wise to cover the soft sides with the same type of material as the black rubber sole. But again, that's a quibble. THese are my 2nd pair of KEEN shoes and these are really comfy and they keep your feet warm and dry. Make sure you order a half size bigger than your normal shoe size because these do run small.
The North Face Greenland Zip Girl Review
I bought these snow boots for my 5 year old, and after attempting to try them on, there was no way to get her feet into the boot due to the narrow and stiff ankle part of the boot. She was supposed to wear these for school when it snows and then change back into shoes for inside, and there is no way she would be able to get these on herself I couldn't get them on either without hurting her having to send back and find another style. Too bad because North Face is such a good brand normally.

I had a couple of pairs of 1150s and then several 1160s that I really liked, so I assumed the 1170s would be the same. Instead, I found them to be too small and wear really quickly. I wear them running, and after about 200 miles they had significant wear on the soles and a hole in the side! Very disappointing, and the last pair of Asics I will be buying for a while.
