My son has wide feet and this comes in wide width. It is easy for him to put on himself and he is only 2 1/2 yrs old. He used to have a significant number of falls which i had attributed to the fact that he was a fairly new walker, but as soon as i switched to the saucony sneakers he miraculously stopped falling... (as much). Great price and great look.

This is literally the third pair of this exact shoe that I have purchased for my son, now 3 1/2. The fit is great (these were size 9.5), they are very flexible and look extremely comfortable, and my finicky son LOVES them. I may have to buy the next size up!

Love these shoes! Bought these for my son since they were on sale and do not regret it one bit! We tried regular lace up sneakers in the past, but it was so difficult to keep the laces tied. Both my sons now have hook and loop closure sneakers. My kids are hard on their shoes (typical boys) and I have not had a problem with them falling apart. Loved them so much I bought them in multiple sizes. My son will be wearing the same shoes for the next couple of years, but as long as he doesn't mind there's no issue.

My 2 year old daughter loves these shoes. I love that they are lightweight and flex with her every step. We have also washed and dried these shoes twice and they are no worse for the wear. These shoes appear to be true to size. I would buy these again.

I had been buying Stride Rite XW shoes for my son and decided to try these out for a change. I ordered the 9XW and just received it today ... and the 9XW is SMALLER than the Stride Rite 8XW that my son is currently wearing. They look like nice shoes and all but if you've been buying a different brand, be aware that these seem to run quite small.

These are the best running shoes I've ever owned, trail or road. They made it through training, a half marathon, 13.1 mile Spartan Beast mud run, and several washings. Then I gave them to my 10-year-old stepdaughter and she wore them to school every day for months. Then her mother wore them for a while before my step-daughter took them back. Finally, they got a hole in the top. No shoe can withstand the beating provided by an active 10-year-old at recess.

The soles protect your feet from the elements, but allow freedom of foot movement allowing you to run naturally. There is a pad on the heel of these that keeps the shoe from rubbing on my heel which isn't available in the later models.

First time I ever purchased shoes over the internet. I read the reviews on sizing and ordered what I thought would be the correct size. They fit perfectly, great shoe for walking in. They are nice and light for summertime.

I have had three separate runs in these shoes at about 1.5 to 2 miles each and every time I get a blister on my instep...on both feet! I like everything else about them. The look, the fit, the lightweight feel. They are good quality shoes, except for the design flaw that leads to blisters. I even tried wearing a layer of mole skin on my foot directly to prevent the blisters, but it didn't help. Anyone have a word of wisdom for me? maybe I do have the wrong size?? too big??, but I really don't think so.

I've worn NB running shoes for over 10 years but these sneakers look and feel cheap. I tried them on and the total lack of support was shocking. I'm sending them back.

I didn't love them like I had hoped, they were a bit stiff feeling around my foot and a bit on the large side.

2nd pair of shoes from these guys. Always great. They do take a minute to get accustomed to the feel of barefoot shoes, but when you do you love it. Personal tip to take it or leave it, I order these and other barefoot shoes a half size small depending on if I plan to wear socks with them or not.

Gentlemen, they rebuilt the shoe. They have the technology. They have the capability to build the world's first brand of advanced barefoots. VIVOBAREFOOT will be that brand. Better than they were before. Better, stronger, faster.

Bought this Evo Lang with an Evo 2. While the purchase price was good, it became readily apparent that the Evo 2 was a much improved shoe. Would only recommend for low volume feet.

Honest reviews on Vivobarefoot Men's Evo Running Shoe

My favorite pair of running shoes I've ever owned, they hold up very well and promote the proper forefoot running style. There is a bit of smell retention so you may need to purchase some deodorizer of some kind. Overall great shoe at a great Amazon price.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Vivobarefoot Men's Evo Running Shoe

I bought a pair of Vivobarefoot Evo this summer, put them under light normal use for about 4, 5 weeks, yet the nylon top by the 1st ball of foot started to crack on the left shoe first then on the right shoe, and the slits extended very quickly. I got a lot of running arounds in emailing and phone calls, eventually I took them to the shoemaker to get them patched.

When I looked at the slits, I can see the top is basically made of paper-thinned plastic, it breaks down from the folding and unfolding motion, nothing to do with the weather or road condition.

All the weight of the shoe stays at the sole, it cannot produce anything close to a barefoot feeling. It has a huge toe box, which could be a plus in some situations.

I spoke with a few people about this shoe before I purchased through Amazon, mainly because there isn't a lot of information. I wanted shoes that fit like a sock or slipper (these do!) since I've been running barefoot for a while but sharp rocks hurt. I've already felt improvement in my stride and while my calves were sore for the first day, I no longer have pain when I get up from sitting for long periods of time or when I wake up.

I typically wear a size 9 and was told by my LRS to order a half size up. I ordered a 9.5 and they fit perfectly but if you're looking to wear socks, I think I would go up a full size.

The shoes also came with 2 color options for laces: purple and black.

The only advice I would give is make sure you have moleskin while breaking them in. Heel blisters may happen.

This shoe is very comfortable. Usually I wear a size 11 or 12 and I'm glad I ordered the 12 :) As a nurse I stand and walk almost all of my 8 hour day. Altra shoes make my feet feel great even after a long busy day! I will definitely order another pair.

Honest reviews on Altra Women's Delilah Running Shoe

These zero-drop running shoes run a half size small, order up! I love mine, very light weight, ventilated. I enjoy being "bare foot" and other shoes with a higher differential make my back ache. Take a little getting used to, a different feel from traditional running shoes, but better. At least for me!

I love these shoes for their wide toe box. I did end up getting a size larger then I expected.

My major complaint is how the back of the shoe is sloped into the back of the heel. I get blisters unless I use moleskin. I've never had any other shoes with the backs designed like that. I'm hoping it will get better as I break them in more, but looking at the shoe, I'm not sure it will.

Cheap La Sportiva Men's Crossover GTX Trail Running Shoe

La Sportiva Men's Crossover GTX Trail Running Shoe,Black/Yellow,43.5 EU/10.5 M US
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I just received my pair from Amazon.

It's late October in Ottawa, Canada, and mild, if a bit rainy today. So I walked around the house in my new size 46 La Sportiva Crossover GTXes, made my decision to keep 'em, and took 'em out for a quick run, just to see.

Before I get to details, here's where I'm at. I jog/run a bit, including 5 mile (8.7km) commute to the office, a few times per week, all year. I used to pretty much stop jogging/running for winter. I'd walk, in hiking boots, but it's not the same. About 3 years ago, I found some Salomon winter trail-runners (with their one-pull lacing system) and just LOVED them. I've worn them out. I needed a replacement.

One thing that I didn't love was the transition months, when the ground was not dry-ish and was also not covered with frozen whiteness, but instead was cold and mucky (late November, part of December) or was covered with partially-hidden melt-water traps and extensive helpings of slush (most of March, and a week or so in the mid-winter thaw). Invariably, I'd step into something that would flow/slop, however briefly, over the low-cut, water-proof Salomons, and then I'd be jogging in soggy socks for the rest of the trip. During winter, I'd wear add-on gaiters, for the parts of my commute where I wasn't on plowed streets or paths, or where the blizzard hadn't been cleared. The gaiters helped keep snow out of the shoe-tops, around the ankle opening, but the fastening system wasn't the greatest, and sometimes I'd get snow rammed up under a gaiter, which then went into my shoe. Drat!

So, Hallelujah! when I finally found the La Sportivas that had a built-in gaiter. I can't run in boots (and you shouldn't if you value your joints). I needed something built like a running shoe, but with a soft sock or gaiter extending a few inches up the ankle to keep snow and slush and muck out of the shoe. Obviously, I'm not the only person with this requirement, or they'd not have bothered to make the Crossover GTX Trail shoes. But... why doesn't every running-shoe manufacturer have something similar? It's been like finding hen's teeth.

So here's what I have found so far:

My normal size is around a 45 (11-1/2 to 12-something in North American sizing). I heeded the advice of other people and bought the La Sportivas a full size larger than usual. I'm keeping this pair, but I could have gone at least a half size larger, again. They're snug, especially with my Smartwool socks in 'em... well, AND my big feet, too, of course.

That's one minor quibble. As long as you know to order large, you'll be ok. The last is narrow, but my wide feet seem ok after a quick few miles. I was actually more concerned that I had barely a quarter inch in front of my big toe (where I usually like more than half an inch) but it seems ok, and I don't expect to be doing much steep down-hill running. If you are, then consider carefully the sizing. Also, try them on in your house, and if you have (or can temporarily set up) a slant board, try standing on a slanted surface with your toes pointed down, to see if your feet push the ends of your toes into the ends of the shoes. If that happens, you might want to just pack 'em up and send back to Amazon for a half size (or more) larger. Once you wear them outside, you own 'em.

Here's the second quibble. The shoe is lined with GoreTex, and so is waterproof. The gaiter, however, is NOT. The gaiter is a form of mesh. I mean, it's not like a screen door, but it is fabric and if you hold it up to the light, you can see lots of tiny holes of the weave or knit or whatever. So... I expect the gaiters to do an EXCELLENT job of keeping loose snow, splashed slush, and muck out of the shoes. UNfortunately, I know that when I inevitably step on slush-over-puddle or thin-ice-over-puddle next spring, my foot will sink through into two to four inches of bloody-cold water, and that water will come through the gaiter and down into the shoe.

So, these shoes are going to solve about 90 percent of the problem, but they don't go all the way. What I would have wanted was that the gaiters be made of (or lined with) GoreTex all the way up. It should be as thin and floppy as possible, because you don't want anything "supportive" and strong above the low shoe part of the footwear, when you use them for actual running. But I really think it should have been possible to go the extra bit and make the gaiter portion truly waterproof, which would have answered the entire prayer I've been praying for... well if I said how long I've been wanting a gaitered running shoe, you'd know how ancient I really am. :-)

OK, one more issue. It wasn't a surprise. Somebody mentioned it in a review somewhere, and I can confirm: The gaiter is a bit too snug over the lace-up part of the shoe. I don't mean too snug for comfort, I mean too snug for the proper function of its zipper. It was a tough pull to get the zipper started, and over my instep. I can see the zipper pull breaking very soon, or else the zipper itself will rip from the gaiter fabric. The other reviewer says it didn't last long for him, and he's been using pliers to pull up the zip ever since. That's not too bad if you run only circuits. But if you run or trek from place to place, you'll need to carry pliers or have a set at each stopping place. Just sayin'.

Finally, I find these shoes a tad TOO supportive. The soles are stiffer and more built than I'd like. But they work, and they flex enough to run in (I weigh well over 200 pounds, so they darn well do flex when I stride... they wouldn't dare not flex...)

Still, I'd appreciate if somebody, anybody would provide links to some other gaitered running shoes or trail shoes. Until that happens, minor quibbles aside, these are RECOMMENDED. A good idea, reasonably well executed. After I've had a chance to wear them in foul winter weather, I'll try to remember to come back and update this review.

I was dithering between awarding three stars or four. As you can see, I went with four. If that changes over the next few months, I'll come back and say so.

See ya in the funny papers. Or wet and miserable on the trails. :->

DECEMBER 07, 2012 I'm ba-a-a-a-ack!

Well, boyz'n'gurlz, I won't change a word in my review above, but the situation has changed. I'd been edging toward minimalist footwear, with Vibram FiveFingers. They had nothing for winter weather, so I bought my La Sportiva GTXs to get me through winter. But then Vibram came out with their Lontra model, and I jumped. So, despite the good things I (still) have to say about the La Sportivas, I hope to not actually wear them might give them away on Kajiji and intend to wear the Vibram FiveFingers Lontras this winter. We'll see if I cave in, when the weather gets nasty. For somebody who still favors the built-up, supportive, "corrective" style of shoe, the La Sportivas are still a good choice. But if you value your feet (and knees and back and.... and....) and have decided to embrace the minimalist footwear paradigm ( I have... I think.... :-) ) then consider Vibram FF instead. And go read my Lontra and Bikila reviews.

Don't mean to confuse y'all, but things change and it's good to keep the info up-to-date. Again, nothing bad to say about the La Sportiva Crossover GTX Trail Running Shoe, it's just that my priorities (and availability of a more suitable-for-me product) have changed.

Cheers!

I bought these shoes to run in ToughMudder VT. I wanted something that would keep a good deal of mud and debris out of my shoes so my feet would survive the 10 mile trek. These did very well at keeping the muck out of my foot bed area. Some did cake up inside the gator area though, but wasn't uncomfortable or hinder my running.

There was times I was in water up to my chest so there is no real way to keep water out at that depth. The water didn't drain very good, but the shoes were comfortable enough to allow my feet to not get totally wrecked.

I only had the chance to run in them 2 times prior to the race. I was concerned with not getting them broken in adequately, but this was not an issue. I followed other buyers advice and ordered a complete size larger than normal, this is definitely recommended. I was able to clean them after the torture test and they have survived. I now use them as my go to shoes for cross country / trail running.

As noted in title, great shoe in snow and crud but.....The weak link are the zippers; they tend to "clog" and are very difficult to zip up. I broke one zipper and now must resort to using needle nose pliers to zip up and down.

I purchased a size that fits well. I assume the issue which I mention could be mitigated somewhat by going to a larger size but then the fit goes to the dogs!

I received my pair of La Sportiva Men's Crossover GTX Trail Running Shoes on the day of our first snowfall this winter and tried them out the next morning:

It was a cold sunny morning between 28 and 35 degrees with a wind chill in the low 20s. My feet were warm and comfortable during the 3 mile walk to the track over varying terrain that ranged from slippery iced pavement to slushy dirt roads and arriving at a 1/4 mile track covered in frozen crunchy snow I stayed away from the 2.5 mile cross-country course for fear of running into a hungry coyote.

The only negative experience was walking on iced pavement which was slippery and dangerous on the way to the track; otherwise, I walked through slush and puddles of ice-water and my feet stayed warm and dry. The shoe's best performance was on snowy ice covered ground where the v-lugs really bit into the frozen/muddy ground and had grip and traction.

The run on the frozen-snow covered track was satisfying even on the patches of ice there was no slipping. Afterwards, I realized that it had been a mistake to wear thick thermal socks because they made my feet sweat regular running socks are sufficient with these shoes.

I was concerned that the nylon zipper on the gaiters wouldn't hold, but they did and the gaiters kept my feet warm while letting them breath.

These shoes are just what I needed and I recommend them to the serious cold weather trail runner.

This is my first purchase of Stride Rite shoes and since my little one is 18mos and runs everywhere, I wanted to make sure her feet were in good shoes. Everyone raves about Stride Rite but I could never afford them and never used them with my older daughter. I absolutely love them! I wish I had bought them sooner. They are sturdy but soft and flexible. They are so cute and you can tell the quality is there. There really is a difference between these and the other shoes I've purchased but good shoes should be more affordable, especially when their feet are growing so fast. I chose Amazon because of the awesome customer service, free shipping, and great price. These particular shoes are on lower priced side but let me recommend them for the parent who wants great shoes for their daughter without spending over $50 on them. Another Sride Rite bonus is that they come in 1/2 sizes which not all shoes do.

Reviews of LOCK LACES 3 PACK (Patented Elastic Shoelace and Fastening System)

LOCK LACES
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
I use them on my running shoes to run, and they work as advertised and the elastic laces make a good overall 'hold' to your feet. It's not difficult to install at all and I don't even bother cutting the laces shorter, I just fold the extra under the locks.

I took 2 star off because of 2 reasons:

1) Defective lock 1 of the locks came with the spring dislocated inside the lock mechanism, making it impossible to push to 'open' the holes (maybe that's why other users are complaining about difficult installation). This is a design flaw of the long and high tension spring. I don't believe this is an isolated incident, which leads me to question the longevity of these locks. I do hope to re-use them after a pair of running shoes die.

2) I wanted to get a replacement, but Amazon would only allow return for this item. So I figured I would order another set first before returning, just in case there is another defective unit. Well, I got the 2nd order and there were only 2 packs (instead of 3) in the package!! And the missing one set is the same color as the defective set in the first order!! #$#$%@#$

I am not going to bother with a 3rd order. This is just too much trouble over shoe laces, so I just return the 2nd order (of the missing pack) with the defective unit.

So if you get the good locks, all 3 packs in the mail, and don't mind the preset color combination, this is a better buy than $8 a pack individually.

Good luck!

the lock mechanism are too tight for the thick lace, requires force to lock it, and would requires tools to un-ply them

it seems impossible to reuse the lock mechanism on another shoe, risk damaging the fragile plastic

after lacing, suggest to cut only one end of the lace instead to retain the plastic aglet, for easy re-threading

While this is a good looking shoe, and seems to be made decently, there are two problems with it.

1) The sizing is off. I always wear US size 8.5, or European size 42, but I had to go down to an 8/41 in these.

2) There is no heel loop. Five Finger-type shoes are quite difficult to put on without the heel loop, and having to get my finger inside the heel as I put them on will likely have that part of the shoes looking stretched and rough before too long.

I like these shoes a lot(size 13). Very well constructed. Solid feel. Cool(temperature-wise). They were a bit brighter than I expected(purchased mail order), but dulled down after some use. Have gotten a couple positive comments about their appearance. I felt they were a bit tight around the ball of the foot, but I was still able to use them. And after kind of surrendering to that they did kind of break in to the point where they fit nice now, though a bit wider there would be nice, but for trail shoes I would think they fit well. I would buy another Vasque shoe after this experience.

I'm an avid trail runner and wore the Montrail Leona Divide trail shoes for years and loved them. Montrail decided to discontinue the Leona Divide leaving many searching for an alternative. On the recommendation of a friend, I took a chance on the Vasque Velocity and am very satisfied with this shoe. Similar to the Leona Divide, the Vasque Velocity has a stable platform with stiff heel and arch support. The toe box is not as wide as the Leona, but offers excellent protection from the roots and rocks. The shoe is true to size. I am 6 ft and 180 lbs and need a sturdy platform for running on miles of technical trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Right out of the box, I wore this shoe on a 21 mile trail run in Shenandoah National Park on miles of the rocky Appalachian Trail with six stream crossings and experienced absolutely no problems with this shoe. Only time will tell how they stand up to the abuse I'm about to throw at them.

These are pretty good shoes. A bit uncomfortable when first breaking in, but now are feeling better. My previous Vasque trail running shoes were very narrow, so they fit my very narrow feet very well. Unfortunately these shoes are wider, so it's hard to tie them tight enough for my narrow feet.

I purchased these shoes about 4 months ago after getting back into running following a long hiatus. I've owned Vasque Sundowner hiking boots for years and have loved them, so I decided to give these a try. Virtually all of the reviews were 4+ stars, and Amazon had them discounted fairly significantly off the MSRP, so it seemed like a no brainer.

My reaction after using them on approximately 10 trail runs of 3 13 miles is mixed. On the positive side, I really love the way the shoes feel. They struck the right balance between cushion and support that I was looking for. The tread is also excellent; I have had no issues with slippage, even on damp days.

I gave the shoes 3 stars, however, because I have consistently gotten a blood blister just off the ball of my left foot after running longer than 5 miles. I realize that blisters happen in trail running, particularly with technical trails, so I don't want to chalk it up entirely to the shoe. Still, it's happening consistently and it's not cool. I've tried different types of socks, tighter and looser lacing patterns, but I can't seem to make it go away. Since I really don't want to buy another pair of shoes, I'm just hoping that I eventually develop a callous in that spot.

I have been a fan of Nike Frees for years. As of late, their quality and comfort have seemed to go down hill. I decided to try these Brooks.

Pros:

Lightweight

Flexible

Nice cushion

Cons:

High back, rubs achilles

All in all, a good shoe. I think I will get used to the high back. The rest of the shoe makes up for it.

These shoes are really comfortable and allow you to flex the forefoot. I found that I needed to buy 1/2 size larger than what I normally wear for all my other Brooks running shoes. The sole is made of really light material (almost styrofoam-looking) and the longevity of the shoe is rated for 200-300 miles rather than the typical 500 miles. In going from the other Brooks shoes to these minimalist shoes, my cadence did improve.

These are remarkably light weight and yet give the support needed for everyday use. I walk the dog twice a day and literally wear my shoes until they're bald. These feel great until they can't go another mile. I have actually ordered another pair just like these. Love them!
