I selected this shoe after a professional shoe store owner fit my 2 1/2 year-old son. Lots of shoes are cute, but I wanted him to have better support now that he's active, runs quite a bit, visits theme parks largely without a stroller, etc... My son has a chubb foot (i.e., wide) and has low arches. This shoe fit him like a dream and gives much better cushioning than the "cutsie" shoes from Target and Converse. I also appreciate that this New Balance shoe comes in half sizes, like most better-made shoes do, in order to get the best fit. Amazon has the best price for this shoe, I save about 15-20% buying here than in a store. I got the first pair of NB shoes at the store in gratitude for the store owner's professional advice, but subsequent pairs have been through Amazon.

As a side note, the shoe store owner recommended that while a child is seated with a shoe on, shove their toes to the farthest forward position in the shoe (without forcing them to curl), then insert your own index finger in the gap behind the child's heel. You should be able to insert your finger by neither jamming it in nor seeing a lot of wiggle room. The finger should feel just right. That's a good fit. When I was a kid we used to do a test by pressing on the toe end of the shoe while the child was standing up, but some shoes are so sturdy that you can't feel much using the toe-press test.

Just ordered theses shoes for the 3rd time for my 2 1/2 year old! He loves them and requests to wear them every time it is time to put on shoes. The navy is a great color that goes with all clothing and the style allows for a sneaker that isn't so sporty. Overall, couldn't be happier with these shoes!

These are fairly easy to put on, and stay on unless he removes the velcro. They look nice. I had to buy him the extra-wide shoes, the wides weren't wide enough, so I am guessing the standard version of these shoes runs pretty narrow. He's always been in the 99%tile for weight, but I have not had to buy him wide shoes until this pair.

I ordered these because I wanted a basic Navy/white sneaker that would be neutral and versatile with my son's casual/play clothes. I had a difficult time finding just that and these do fit the bill. My son has never needed 'wide' shoes before though his feet might lean toward the wide side a little bit. After reading the reviews, I decided to go for the XX wide in these. The reviews were right. These are none too wide in the 'XX wide'. They are comparable to many Medium width shoes we've had. The reviews about the Velcro strap are also correct. The strap has to be pulled more than normal to cover the connecting Velcro. It's as if they might have made the hull of the shoe wider but kept the strap length the same as their more narrow version. Anyway, we've made this sneaker work for us and the strap issue doesn't seem as awkward now that we've worn them in a bit; perhaps it has stretched a bit. The quality is fair; not outstanding for the price. We've had better. We do get use out of these shoes and are happy, at least, to have found this neutral, versatile color.

It's hard to get kids shoe sizes exactly right but we ordered the same size as a shoe our son already had but this one was just too tight for him, so I sent it back and got a 10.5 Wide (instead of a 10). That fit great and he loves the show. I'd say that without the "wide" we just couldn't pull the velcro strap all the way over (and yet I've always thought of adult new balances as actually running on the wide side).

It does not seem like i chose the right size because it feels bigger than i am used to in my running shoes. They are wider and longer than 8.5. And that's my size for most shoes. Colours are lovely, comfy, shoe strings are a bit too long.

For running reasons, they are not bad. The heal is soft enough to run on a harder surface. But seems like the best thing is to try shoes on and then purchase them. I guess, I could have done it with these sport shoes, because Amazon is very good in exchange, returns, etc., but I decided to keep and use them. And I have been using them without major issues.

This is my third pair of Nike Shox. I love them, comfortable to wear all day as well as run a few miles in. If I was planning on doing a half-marathon or longer I would go get a custom fit shoe from a running store but for everyday wear and morning runs these are great! I usually wear these shoes everyday, 7 days a week and they last about two years before I either have to replace them because they are falling apart or they are just too dirty.

This is 8th pair of Nikes in 15 years. The last better than your average sneaker. My knees and joints are getting there so I wanted something with superior cushioning. I guess this is as cushioned as the come.

Performance 8/10 As usual I get a half size larger on Nikes because they are a snug fit for me. The contours are great and wrap well. Heel guard isn't too stiff and is flexible. The shox feel really good but need some getting used to as far as balance. Not like you'l keel over, but it's slightly different. Good airflow that keeps it comfortable too.

Price and appearance 7/10Not a big fan of the exposed shox but I guess that's what makes the show. Feels like I'm on stilts but otherwise not an issue. Price is average, and is usually worth the durability.

In general, this is a good walking shoe if you need the extra bounce or cushion.

I bought these shoes after trying them on at a department store in New Jersey.

These shoes integrate decades worth of Nike technology making the smoothest ride that I have ever found in a shoe. (I know this sounds like an advertisement from Nike but I assure you that I'm just a really big fan of this shoe). With that aside, I think that all the research sure does pay off. I'm going to give you a short description of each technology.

Shox these four cylindrical columns at the back of the shoe provide great support without the added weight of a heavy sole.

Air each Shox has a small, extremely-durable air bubble encapsulated within the column in order to provide great impact resistance.

Lunarlon (Lunar) Nike claims that this technology was developed with NASA. whether true or not, the Lunarlon is a foam that lines the bottom of the shoes. It makes the shoe super light and provides excellent protection from running surfaces.

This combination of these technologies make the shoe such a joy to wear. The only downside to the shoe is that the mesh upper may wear out quickly, but the superior breathability makes this downside worth it.

FYI I use these shoes mainly for cross-training (lifting weights, light jogging, calisthenics, etc.)

Best ASICS Men's Gel-Kinsei 5 Running Shoe Deals

I've gone through all the Kinsei models, went through 4 pairs of Kinsei 4's, and while not great to look at, I loved the performance. I'm 38 and still play basketball and these Kinsei shoes are the only thing that lets me play without knee / back pain. So I upgraded to the 5's and liked the look, but they are a bit narrower and there isnt as much sole/rubber on these as previous models. It seems they tried to make them lighter and sleeker maybe?? The 4s had more 'beef' to them. Took them for runs and immediately noticed a difference in performance for MY feet. My foot seemed to 'slide' a bit side to side (the shoe was snug at the toe, so it wasnt too big) and I had some pain develop quickly under the metatarsal heads (the bumps on the bottom of your foot at the base of where your toes start), then my knees started to hurt, started having some pretty bad back spasms. Tried 3 different times to 'break' them in, walk/run, jog, etc. Didnt matter. Went back to the 4's, which my 'newest' pair was still pretty beat up, and it felt 10x better. They just have more support. Now I'm 6'1 200 lbs so for someone lighter and with a little more arch in their foot (Im flat footed and invert a bit when running) these 5's may work great, but these are not the 'same' as the previous models, they seemed to diverge on this model more than they did from say, the 3's to the 4's.

I am a pretty tough grader on stuff like this and have nothing to lose or gain in any of my reviews. We have had a lot of snow and subsequent ice in our area over the last month. My street and drive are ice covered at least 1-2 inches thick and then it melts on top of the ice and it is impossible to stand up. I purchased the Yaktrax and let me tell you, they are worth every penny. I did not get the Pro model because I didn't know if I would like them. When I first got them I tied to go for a walk down the driveway with my regular New Balance running shoes (no Yaktrax) and could barely stand up... Kept sliding without even walking. Went back in the house and put the Yaktrax over my running shoes and went back outside. I was able to walk across the ice like it wasn't even there. I felt like I probably could run on the ice if I wanted, but didn't want to push it. I don't know how the Yaktrax will be in deep snow, but then you probably wouldn't need them there anyway. But on ice, they are super! I read some previous reviews that said they had problems with breakage. I make sure that the rubber bands are pulled high up onto the shoe and try to have the rubber bands on the bottom go between any grooves that I have on the bottom of the shoe. This is a long winded review to a low cost item but I wanted to make sure it gets the review that it deserves.

Having had two pairs myself and having gifted another four pairs, I can say that Yaktrax Walkers are a good idea but one poorly executed. Spiral wires are held in place by a frame of elasticized plastic. The plastic is quite fragile and the problem occurs because the wires aren't long enough to cover the entire expanse of the shoe's sole (which would prevent chafing of the plastic with the roadway). Too soon the plastic chafes and breaks never a full winter of use, in my experience. Before they chafe through, they are excellent. I would recommend that anyone ignoring my review, pay the extra that the Pro model costs because sooner or later you will almost certainly walk out of the standard (strapless) model and lose it before you know that it's gone.

Yaktrax's are unbeatable. They give the greatest traction in all icy conditions. I run a high mountain camp and have tried many ice traction devises. In icy conditions, CAUTION, is always the most important factor, no matter what the devise. In walking indoors all devises can be hazardous, it depends on the care you use while walking. My staff and I have used Yaktrax's for years. For inside staff, regular Yaktrax's are the best. They put them on to walk from their cabin or car to the office and pop them off once inside. For my outside staff, the Yaktrax Pro's can't be beat. They are rugged and don't ware out. The strap over the front of the boot keeps them in place in most situations. When coming inside it is best and easiest to slip the boots off and to step into indoor shoes. For long Life take a little time when putting "Trax's" on, make sure they slip into the grooves in the soles of the boots and if the end of a spring starts to catch, use a pair of pliers to squeeze it back into place. The Yaktrax Pro's I have on now have lasted me for three years and counting.

This product is okay on packed snow, but it tends to fall off your foot, especially in unpacked snow. I wasted a lot of time hunting for them again and again, so I got a size smaller to see if that would solve the problem, but then they broke after just a few uses from being stretched too much. In addition, the coils do not grip well on smooth ice and makes walking on hard floors a real slip-and-fall hazard if you forget to take them off when entering a home or business. I switched to Get-A-Grip ice cleats and have found them to be much safer on both packed snow and ice.

A very comfortable shoe. It also seems well made. It is a bit heavier than other running shoes I have owned, but I do not run, I bought it for walking. I am 6'6", 230lbs, it is supportive.

UPDATE 2-19-13: I got new orthotics from a foot doctor and these shoes accept them perfectly. Also I have come to appreciate the construction and comfort of these shoes since I first reviewed them.

I do not run, I am 61 with bad knees and one tender foot. I need stable, comfortable shoes so I can walk, and these are excellent shoes. I got them for $60 new, a great price. My size was on sale or something? I recently got another pair of white leather ones with Velcro fasteners for $30 on sale. I plan to use this brand of athletic shoes the rest of my life because they are so comfortable and stable.

When the foot bed is removed to insert an arch support, there is another thinner foot bed as a base. It is not unfinished under the removable foot bed like so many shoes. This is an example of the quality of construction of these shoes. I highly recommend them.

I bought this in the chocolate/champagne color although the champagne trim looks more like silver. It's a striking color combination.

I purchased a Saucony walking shoe last month but it's leather and presses right under the bone below the big toe of my left foot. Because these had so much mesh, I thought it would work better for me. I bought these in my regular 7.5M size, given the reviews of other ASICS athletic shoes but they don't feel wide enough. I used them this afternoon to walk my dog and by the end of a short 25 minute walk, I had red spots on both sides of my feet. Since our walks normally average 45 minutes, I can only use these for occasions where I will be walking very short distances or I know I will develop blisters. Hopefully with all the mesh, the shoe will eventually stretch out and they'll be more comfortable to use.

I'm giving it 3 stars, more for the appearance than for their utility as walking shoes.

Because I wear walking shoes most of the time, I look for different colors and styles to match my clothes. This shoe (penguin/silver/coral) caught my eye because it would look great with an outfit I'd planned on wearing to Disneyland. I ordered my usual street shoe size of 7M because my feet are shallow/bony and I prefer to wear thin cotton socks. They felt great from the first time I put them on and it's obvious they'll need no breaking in. There's room for my over-the-counter arch supports and the bunion on my larger foot is comfortably accommodated by the mesh fabric. The coral color seems more like a soft orange (to me). They match my orange clothes better than my coral ones.

After Disneyland:

These shoes are less supportive than my other walking shoes, which is fine most of the time since I walk almost exclusively on level ground. On the inclined paved areas of Disneyland, I felt the my foot moving in the shoe more than I would prefer. I wore them 1 of the 4 days and did not have this problem on the other 3 days when I wore my New Balance 760 walking or Merrell CTR Cruise shoes.

I also bought a pair of these shoes for my daughter who wore them on 2 days of the Disneyland trip. She got a small blister (not too annoying) on the underside of the middle toes on both feet, so obviously these shoes don't fit her as well as they do me. She is usually very easy to fit in all shoes so I was surprised, and a little disappointed.

We have purchased Stride Rite shoes for our children since they have walk and been satified. These Slingshot by Stride Rite are not the same quality. The first pair we purchased started to fall apart within a week. When we returned the shoes to the the store, the sales rep said there had been considerable returns for this particular model. But we liked the look, so we tried another pair of Slingshots. In about three weeks, the stitching in the front toe gave way. So, we returned them to Stride Rite for a different model.

Needed a wider sport sneaker for school for my daughter so I went back to stride rite. I used to buy stride rite when they were toddlers, they always seemed to fit best. Now when she is 10, I find most of the gorgeous shoes I love for looks fit my daughter's wide and high-arched foot badly, very badly. Are you shopping for a kid with high arched and/or wide feet? never buy Italian in spite of the beautiful design and hand stitched leather!(so sad) These were instantly comfortable just perfect. BONUS: they are cute! no-tie bungy laces, nice design, great color, daughter loves them, mother loves them, price was very good. It's a love story. My fast growing girl wears a size 5, so ladies with smaller feet...don't hesitate. Other brands that work for my high-and-wide foot gurl? Teva, tsubo, and (sigh) crocs. Soccer cleats? again, avoid Italian brands adidas has been best for our girl. Happy back to school everyone.

Merrell Men's Barefoot Flux Glove Sport Review

I love this shoe! It has a little bit more lateral stability for running than the road glove, which makes it ideal for running on light to moderate trails or playing sports like basketball. The sole is identical to the road glove though so you will still get all the flexibility and excellent road feel. I also love that this has less heel cushioning than the road glove so it feels more stable. Very lightweight and the upper is highly breathable. Is does have a very thin liner though just like the trail glove, unlike the pure mesh upper of the road glove or the non-breathable sonic glove. The upper is also very flexible like the trail glove, much more so than the flux glove (non sport model) and sonic glove. I have tried many of the glove shoes and if I had to pick only one it would be this. The trail glove is great for the trails but is not great for the road or even heavily groomed trails. The sonic glove is not flexible enough, although waterproof. I would highly recommend this shoe! I must admit I found it for a lower price at sierra trading post though.

First time I've ever had a pair of barefoot style shoes (can't do the ones with the toes. Just can't). They fit really well and the toe box is very comfortable. I have periodic problems with my knees and joints and I've read that many people have experienced relief when using this type of shoe.

As of this review I've only worn them to one bootcamp class. If you've never worn this type of shoe for exercise, they do take a bit of getting used to. Also, don't be surprised if you get cramps in your feet at first. It took me a few rounds to work them out but after that they were fine. They have great traction and they breathe very well.

I hope they are as good as they seem. I will update after a few more weeks.

Buying shoes online made me nervous, but these shoes arrived In excellent condition. They are extremely stylish, and the color pallet of the brown, black and white works excellent with any attire. I have worn the shoes a dozen times, and they are very comfortable. The one problem that may arise is they have a snug fit. I would recommend one buy 1/2 size to 1 full size bigger, if like me you are between shoe sizes based on a particular shoe or the company that makes them. Wearing a thick pair of socks would make my shoes too tight.

The fit seemed a little wide, but good socks and the adjustable strap make them fit fine. They look good and seem comfortable

I love this shoe and I'm really happy that it comes in a double wide, but the criss cross stretch panels make it difficult for the tongue to open wide enough for my daughter to put on her own shoes. For her, the need to put on shoes by herself is non-negotiable so we had to return this shoe. Perhaps when she's a bit older we'll revisit this shoe again. Saucony makes great shoes at a good price.

Went from 9 to 10 and the shoe seems larger on the outside, but about the same size on the inside. Otherwise a nice shoe for the price.

Perfect running shoes for my 5 year old daughter who loves purple. Bought a size 12 and seems slightly larger than her other size 12 shoes but not enough to have to go down a size.

BUT.... these are a size smaller than every other pair of shoes my daughter owns. Disappointed that they will not last nearly as long as I had hoped. Definitely order a size bigger than you want.
