Great shoe. I am a flat footed runner and had plantar fasciitis in the past. I run well in these. I trialled shoe inserts from local sporting store and found these aren't needed.

Really great sneaker but no room for movement in shoe. Did not want to take the chance of keeping it and then having my son out grow it within a month. Unfortunately out of stock in his size, so I haven't been able to replace it. But I would definitely recommend it

Based on the description, I thought that these would be similar to my Trail Gloves with more cushion for high impact training. That was not the case. These had a very rigid internal structure around the arch and heel that made them feel much more like traditional running shoes than the minimalist shoe they were advertised as.

I was looking for a new shoe to use while training CrossFit. I currently use the Merrell Hammer Glove in an 8.5 and it fits and performs well. When I received the Merrell Barefoot Train Circuit Access, the shoe felt too large. It was very comfortable and the extra cushioning does not take away from the "barefoot" feel. I have since ordered a size 8.0 and hopefully it will fit and feel better. The Castle Rock color option is very clean and classic. It is not the flashiest shoe but hopefully my performance will do the talking!

From the moment I first put on these sneakers, they felt comfortable, cushy yet supportive. They also keep your feet cooler. However, in less than three months, they are starting to deteriorate. The plastic covering in the center of each heel is badly cracked, so there is an opening to the inside of the shoe. The top liner above my toes inside one sneaker has a hole, and the blue liner at the back of the other shoe also has a hole. So for comfort and support, my grade would, most certainly, be an A, but durability would merit a D.

I got a C width and the shoe is just wide enough for me.

They have a stiff sole with rigid plastic on the sides of the shoe just above the sole which means the foot does not flex or move when striding. This means you feel secure and can't pronate or twist your ankle easily.

It is a different style of shoe from the type with a flexible sole and soft sides which feels like wearing moccasins. I like both types of shoe the flexible type feels better on dirt paths and the stiff type feels better on harder surfaces.

I have 4 pair of fairly recently purchased athletic shoes in my closet. They all either hurt my feet or my back or both. In the past I've actually bought two pair of different sized shoes to match my different sized feet, with marginal satisfaction. So.....a few weeks ago I am sitting in my orthopedist's office and pick up a magazine and see an ad for a great shoe for people with, well, issues like mine. Quickly I wrote down the brand and then came home to check them out online. Great reviews!!!!!

There are 4 herniated lumbar discs, totally degenerated cervical disks in my back, and a 73% occlusion of my right sciatic foramen; in other words, I'm a mess. Shoes are essential and frequently add to the already pained life I live. Finding something that feels good on my feet, doesn't add to back pain, and...gosh, even looks good is impossible ~ until now!

These shoes arrived a couple of days ago. I tentatively wore them around the house in case they had to be returned. Finally, today I took the "leap." I put them on and took my two dogs for a very long walk (about 2.5 miles, lots of it uphill/downhill). Can I just say, I still have these wonderful shoes on and I'm feelin' fine!

As for fit, my feet are narrow to medium and these fit like a glove. I'm somewhere between 7.5 and 8.0. They are absolutely the right length. And, I have a rather pronounced turn out of my right leg, which is oddly (and comfortably) a bit corrected with these.

I am in love! With a shoe! Yes, my life is woefully lacking, but not in athletic shoes!

Finally, my feet, back, hips, everything feels happy. I may never take these off!!!

I love my shoes. They are exactly what I wanted. I received them a day early which made me so happy. The price was the best, normally they run 100.00, but I got mine for 39.99. They fit perfect.

The shoes seemed to be well made, but because it was small for a "10", it didn't fit and I had to return it. This seems to be a common problem for apparel made in that Asian country where quality, life expectancy, and consistency in the products they manufacture is a huge problem. I learned my lesson trying to order shoes online. Never Again!!!

I have been a Hi-Tec customer for quite a few years. I purchased this footwear online to save time and it only cost me grief and sadness. I bought these twice if you count the replacement pair. I had to return both pairs because:

Purchase 1: The tread began to fall apart on the first day I wore them.

Purchase 2 (replacements): The tread began to fall apart on the second day I wore them and the right heel pinched.

I have recently received my refund and will make my Hi-Tec footwear purchase in a store from now on as I believe that less than second rate shoes should not be sold EVER.

This is the only time I have ever been dissatisfied with a purchase from Amazon and I have been making those purchases for several years. To the credit of Amazon the time delay to refund was quite reasonable and I will be making future purchases, just not footwear.

Best ASICS Men's GEL-Nimbus 14 Running Shoe Deals

ASICS Men's GEL-Nimbus 14 Running Shoe,Black/Digital/Neon Orange,11 M US
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

New for 2012, this is the 14th iteration of one of Asics flagship models.

Overview: The latest version in the lineage remains true to its predecessors. If you liked the Nimbus in the past, you will like this one too. While Asics claims to have made a significant number of changes to the new model, most are superficial. The primary differences are:

(1) a slightly narrower profile (meaning the soul does not flair out as much), though the toe box retains about the same interior width for your toes;

(2) weight has been reduced by about 4 ounces per pair, while cushioning remains as good as ever; and

(3) flashier colors have been added to suggest a more premium line.

In addition to the more subtle blue/black version, the original release includes two jazzier color combinations: a neon yellow / blue and a black / "digital neon." (If past models are any indication, more color combinations through the year.)

Brief Background: I am 6'1", 175, and run three to seven miles several days a week primarily on city streets and paved running trails, sometimes on the treadmill. Once or twice a year I will train up to the half-marathon to full-marathon level for a short window, but running is generally part of my cross training program. The Nimbus 14s are probably my 7th or 8th version to run in of the Nimbus line. (I also periodically buy a set of Kayanos, but prefer the Nimbus for their slightly higher level of cushioning.)

About Asics: For years Asics has had two popular models: the Kayano (now on its 18th iteration) and the Nimbus. These were the models that first regularly broke the $100 per pair mark. Now, so many iterations later, they are retailing for $140 $150 per pair. To up the ante Asics has added additional designs such as the super premium Kinsei line that is $180+ and the Cirrus, a line aimed at people moving towards a flatter soul (read: natural running a la the 5 Fingers crowd). (Beginning with the last iteration, 13, the Nimbus was already beginning to lower its heal, so the line is keeping pace with evolving trends, but at a more subdued rate.) While I can't speak to the Cirrus line, I have looked at the Kensei line. Though others may disagree, the Kensei strikes me as a Kayano rapped in techno lizard skin. Not that I don't like techno lizard skin, it just appears they are more flash than "superior engineering," regardless of price differential. For most runners, the Kayano and Nimbus will likely retain their place as the real workhorses in the stable for training or exercise.

The Nimbus: For anyone new to Asics or the Nimbus line in particular, the shoe is particularly well-suited for those with a "neutral" gate and slightly higher arches there is greater cushioning for the arches. If you are a high-mileage runner (running 25 miles or more a week) optimizing for comfort over absolute speed, this is an excellent shoe to train in to avoid injuries. Running on a treadmill or anything short of hard cement and you will feel like you are running on soft earth.

Number 14: With respect to the specific changes for 2012:

(1) The weight loss is noticeable. The new shoes feel slightly lighter. It is more evident in the hand than on the foot, but the slight reduction in weight will certainly feel better in those last miles. They also seem slightly airier. This may not be good in the cold, but for running in warm weather it is a plus.

(2) The shoe retains its stability and cushioning. This remains the shoe's strong suit. One of the advantages of their continued lowering is increased sure-footedness. They are stable to run in, such that you can run on fairly uneven surfaces or have a surprise change in elevation and still not turn your ankle ie, you don't feel like you are running on a platform as was the case in the earlier models. At the same time, they continue to retain a good deal of cushioning. I have run in the 5 Fingers and the minimus shoe line by New Balance (which are great to throw in a suitcase when you have limited room and may only be hitting a treadmill). They feel good for short distances or on soft ground, but for longer stretches or pavement, still strongly prefer something with some cushion and that is where the Nimbus still stands apart.

(3) The Nimbus is getting more flash. While they are still offering some regular color schemes, they are finally adding some glitz to the line. The Kayano typically got a good color scheme or two while the Nimbus was still a little on the dull side. Look out. The Nimbus is starting to make tracks and can now stand toe-to-toe with the latest Nikes. And at this price point, it's long overdue.

A few general notes: (a) if you are new to Asics, most people order one size larger than their street shoes ie, if you wear a 10 in regular shoes, you may need to order an 11 and (b) like a toothbrush, they need to be replaced more than you might think. As much as I dislike buying a couple of pair of these a few times a year, every time I try to cheap out and go too long on replacing shoes, I spend some time nursing a shin splint or IT band injury.

As aside and likely one that will continue to remain without remedy because no one at the design studio or factory seems to listen or care, the insoles are still p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c. If you are going to put lots of miles on these, you might consider an aftermarket insole. I like the superfeet, but there are many that work well depending on your running style, arches, foot volume, etc. A trip to a running store may be well worth it on this front. As almost all running shoes suffer from this issue (the paper mache insole), I am not deducting a star for this. (If half a star could be reduced, I would.)

In sum, the new model is same as the old one, only a little better, specifically: lighter and jazzier while retaining the right balance of cushioning for a regular runner. This continues to be an excellent overall shoe for running.

Hope this review helps you.

I have been wearing Nimbus for the past 6 years. I love the cushioning, but I find that the Nimbus 14 is narrow for my foot. It will stretch because it is made of fabric, but I wish the toe box area had been designed a bit wider. I also preferred the off center lacing of past Nimbus models. This is not my favorite ASICS Nimbus design.

Best Deals on ASICS Men's GEL-Nimbus 14 Running Shoe

If you are looking for a neutral running shoe with lots of cushioning than I highly recomend the Nimbus 14. If your not sure if you have a neutral running gate than go to your local running store (not a chain) and have them asses your gate and buy from them. Without supporting them, this valuable advice/service is gone (trust me I Love Amazon but for running shoes, etc...).

This is the lightest Nimbus yet but feels even more cushioned than the previous model. I have an average to narrow foot and the 13 also felt too snug in toe box area, the 14 does not feel too tight for my foot. Fit is the most important aspect of any running shoe, but is an individual thing, so always try on first and jog around the store.

Assuming it's a good fit for your foot (this shoe runs true to size and for most folks this shoe should be a good fit) than I highly reccommend this shoe. I intentially try/buy other brands from time to time just to mix it up and see, over time, how other top line shoes feel/work. For me, hands down, Asics is the best in terms of comfort/fit, quality, and cushioning. And, in all three of these areas, the Nimbus 14 is the best running shoe to date.

Honest reviews on ASICS Men's GEL-Nimbus 14 Running Shoe

I am a neutral runner who averages only about 10 to 15 miles a week. For years I ran on the Asics Kinsei and loved them, except for the price. I eventually tried the Brooks Ghost, a less supportive shoe that was quick and had a lot of go! The cushioning lacked immensely though for longer runs but I kept them around as a cross training shoe for speed and strength drills.

As my Kinsei were seeing their last days and my feet tired of running in the Ghosts (my shins were yelling at me in these shoes), I was back in the market for a shoe that had the quality of the Kinsei, the speed of the Ghosts and a price range that was actually manageable. After a a few weeks of going through Runners World, researching my running style and impact, and eventually looking at the points on my foot that apply the most pressure, I came across the Asics Nimbus 14. I had tried the 13 and 12s during the previous years but was just not jazzed by the feel and responsiveness.

The improvements in the 14s made it feel like a whole new shoe though! The comfort and support are just right for my neutral running style. I have a "normal" arch and run mostly on my mid and forefoot. In some reports, I saw something about a slower responsiveness due to the cushioning in the shoe, but I felt like they had plenty of get up and go when I pushed the run. The shoe is also well ventilated and prevents any overheating while on my 3-4 miles runs. I usually integrated hills with my workouts and the shoe had plenty of grip and stability for the ups and downs as well.

The best part of the shoe is that it provides you (me) with one of the best feelings, not worrying about what's on my feet. I can just run and focus on MY workout. They gave me this feeling within day one. I had to slightly, very slightly, break them in, but they felt plush from the go. I definitely recommend going to your local running store that has a treadmill, try them out for yourself, and see what I am talking about. I am not an avid runner, but these shoes will bring you that much closer to wanting to be one!

Plus, they come in neon yellow, what's more awesome than that!?

These are highly recommended and will most likely buy a couple more pairs for the years to come!

I bought these shoes to try out barefoot running. I have been very interested in trying this since I first heard about it. If you search the web you will find an evangelical community supporting going barefoot, and as a person who has now tried it, I will add my voice to the choir. I use these to run, walk around the house, practice martial arts and someday I'd like to be able to wear them to work! Now you will recognize these split toe shoes as the famous "ninja shoes" that are called "Tabi" in Japan. I was surprised to learn that in Japan until recently rugged tabi shoes like the ZEM Boots were the shoes of choice for construction workers, farmers and any outdoor heavy labor. Being able to sensitively feel the ground is considered more important than protecting your feet in impenetrable cases (like steel toed boots). They are technically called Jika Tabi, literally; tabi that touch the earth, as compared to the cloth soled shoes that are for indoor/ceremonial use.

These shoes have an extremely thin sole that allows you to feel everything under you foot, I tell frieds that ask, "If I step on a penny, I know if it was heads or tails!" The foot feel is better than the more expensive barefoot runners like Vibrum Five Fingers, which I also own and love. Training on sharp pea gravel is an absolute party of sensation that make your brain tingle...

You might think that if I really wanted a barefoot running experience I would simply run barefooted, however I can say from painful experience that this is a tough nut to crack in the modern environment. If I try to run even a mile totally barefoot it's almost certain that eventually I will land hard on an isolated small stone, goathead, or piece of glass. The pain produced by this experience means that you spend the whole time anticipating such experiences. This results in a paranoid running experience rather than a joyful one. I can say that with a little training these very thin soles are enough to allow running with confidence on fairly difficult surfaces. *wrote this 6 months ago, I'm making significant progress running barefoot, but these are still best whenever you want to sightsee rather than watching your surface, great for hiking and rough country scrambling!

Finally, the price is right, there are starting to be a number of minimalist shoes out there, but none of them are carrying a minimalist price tag. Once you are hooked on the experience, you will probably spring for VFFs but these are a good starting space. In fact even with my high priced minimalist shoes I still often choose to take out my ZEM Boots, I own both these low tops and the higher top split toes now. If you run in the cold, the high tops are a good choice. I haven't tried the round toes yet though they may be a little easier look to pull off in public. Eventually you get used to everybody asking you, "What are those things on your feet?" it happens even with the all black shoes, though maybe a little less with round toes.

Try them, and prepare to be surprised.

**Addendum 9 months later, still love these shoes, I have turned many people on to them who are also impressed. They do wear along the seam of the sole and upper on both the outer and inner edge. Also for me they wear on this seam a little at the heal. Still very great life for the price, though I mod them with a line of shoe goo on this seam. Some of my friends have preferred the round toe version for their foot shape. I still prefer the split toe for the added stability during toe spring phase and hard lateral direction changes.

Love these shoes. I am a martial artist and I was looking for a nice light weight practical shoe that i could wear during practice. This shoe is perfect. A little snug and first. But after I engaged in a few kicks and jumps they loosened up. They are now very comfortable. They are true to size, in that they are exactly the size of your foot. which is why they fit so snug at first. Nevertheless, great for an indoor workout. Because of the material you can take them to the beach too.

I know these are not indicated as water shoes on the product description, but they came up on Amazon's drop down search when that was what I was looking for, so I thought I'd give them a try. They are just what I was looking for since I do water aerobics as well as swim at my gym, and I hate conventional clunky water shoes which are made for the outdoors. These shoes are light weight, attractive, and comfortable, and everyone wants to know where I found them!

Honest reviews on ZemGear Ninja Low - Barefoot Minimal Shoes - Black/Black

I purchased these shoes back on 11/13/11. I wear a size 13 shoe, but got these in a 12 so they would fit snug. Getting them in a size 12 was a good decision. I would recommend that anyone would go a size lower than their sneaker size. I use these for my martial arts and MMA classes. They are extremely comfortable and don't scratch or scuff my partners when we're practicing moves. My only complaint is that they began to wear after about 4.5 months, and after 6 months the bottom of both shoes are worn out. I think I'm going to purchase a more expensive pair of these to see if they last longer. Otherwise, these are very good for my training purposes. Will definitely buy again.

Well having some expectations about this piece of footwear,I must admit I am a little disappointed. While the construction of it is well done the "universal" type fit that it states small med. large you get the idea leaves abit to be desired.the big toe section is fine but were your small toes go are the problem area. They will not fill out enough unless you are a size 11-11 1/2 maybe.the rest of the fit is good.and the "bare foot"feel is exactly that. The heal section can feel off and cause some pressure issues because your heal may not fit inside of the "heal cup" once again due to the universal fit. This is all coming from someone who has flat feet. That may or may not have some effect on the fit.Perhaps the ones that are not the Tabi style fit better.

I can't run due to foot issues, but I work out every day for an hour or two at the gym, and at least 30 to 45 minutes is spent on the cardio machines. Every other month or so for the past several years I've had to stop the cardio workouts due to debilitating foot pain near the balls and arches of my feet that can last for weeks.

I always loved New Balance because it seems to be the only brand that fits me well. But I never understood the numbering system for each shoe model, and I don't think I've ever had a pair above 600. I bought these shoes from a department store clearance outlet several months ago, and what a revelation they are!

Now I understand that the higher the model number, the more advanced the shoe. After researching this further on the internet, it appears that when you get above the 800 level numbers, the quality of the shoe takes a huge leap, and so does the price. But you get what you pay for. While the lower model numbers aren't bad shoes, the higher numbered models incorporate greater and greater technology to add stability, support, cushioning, and durability while at the same time making them lighter. And with my touchy feet, I need all the shoe technology I can get!

In the several months I've owned these, my foot pain flare-ups have almost completely disappeared. Now I'm looking forward to trying out other high end New Balance models.

The shoes cannot be returned once tried without re-stocking fee and shipping costs. Perhaps I should go back to buying running shoes in a shop where a proper fit can be confirmed.

Without a doubt the greatest, most durable, lightweight, comfortable running shoe I have ever laced up. As a Marine, I run A LOT, and these shoes are so awesome I have 3 pairs of the version 2 and now these to add to my collection. My only advice to anyone looking in to purchasing these (if you have a pair of Version 2) order a half size bigger. The toe box on the V3 is slightly more narrow so they fit a little tighter. Other than thatits like wrapping your feet in unicorns and rainbows and going for a run!!! 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!!

I like my Cortez Nike's. The design is classic and I get tons of complements. However, After about an hour or so, they are a little tight. I wish I would have gotten a half size larger. I will get another pair soon but next time I will get a larger size.

So I get it, spending this much on shoes is slightly retarded! However, I am a big fat guy and hate running so I wanted to try and mitigate the suck. I figured why the hell not buy some obnoxious shoes to help. First off it is not apparent from the pics but the L and R shoe are different colors which is pretty awesome. Second, you can feel the quality in the shoe as you pick it up. I can't quite explain why except that you will find suede near your ankle piece. Lastly they are comfortable and get lots of attn. I tried the minimalist shoes and would rather have a hot poker shoved... Well lets just say I like these better. So don't hesitate your kids don't really need to go to college. Buy these shoes!

If you want the best, it'll cost you... These Asics are the flagship product of the company. I was running marathons with the Kinetic 2 and 3s, until I finally decided to invest in the best. Keep in mind that I tried Nike, Adidas, Newton and Saucony. None came close to my trusty Asics... Running is one of the most inexpensive sports out there, so don't go cheap on your boots.

I don't care what your brand loyalty is. I've worn Nike for 20 years, and goodbye to that. These are the best shoes I have ever put on, and it isn't even close. You owe it to your feet, which have carried you this far, to at least try these on. 2 pair, please.

Honest reviews on ASICS Men's Kinsei 4 Running Shoe

I am not a particularly good runner, but I am a dedicated runner and have tried numerous shoes over the years. My recent favorites have been ASICS Gel-Noosas (I prefer the Noosa 6's to the more recent iterations,) but now that I'm running longer distances, I wanted a somewhat more padded shoe that still has that excellent ASICS support that I love my Noosas for. With that in mind I spent the money and moved up to the Gel-Kinsei 4 (mine are in the jaw-dropping mosaic/white/mosaic color scheme.) I have never loved a pair of running shoes so much right out of the box. I kept the factory insoles, and have found them to be extraordinarily supportive and comfortable, yet reasonably light. I weigh a bit over 200 lbs., and am 6'2" so I tend to be hard on shoes (I run about 25 miles a week.) After running with the Kinseis I have noticed that my body feels better (especially my knees) than after running in most other shoes.

I still run in my Noosas as well, but when I'm going to run 5K or more I now default to the Kinseis. While there are many great shoes on the market, if you're running relatively long distances and want to do your feet a favor, buy a pair of Gel-Kinsei 4's. Your feet will thank you.

I read all of the reviews and I have tried hundreds of shoes over the 20 years that I have been running and this shoe is the best shoe I have ever run with. I'm a heavy runner ex football player 6'2 220 lbs and I run about 18-24 miles per week at about a 9.50 pace..I over pronate slightly and this shoe gives me tremendous support. In addition to the support the cushion under my feet is also incredible. I was hesitant because of the price but i read a review that stated how precious your feet are and decided to give them a try. I assure you if you are my size and are a moderate runner you will enjoy this show...I plan to buy several pairs as this is the only shoe I run in now. I have tried Nike, Saucony, Brooks and several other brands based on expert recommendations and this is the shoe for me. It truly is made like no other and lives up to all of the reviews on this website. I also love the styl as you do not see many of these shoes on the road. I love this shoe...it is the real deal. I'm also a power buyer on Amazon and the shipping and customer service was outstanding as it always is.
