Review of Skechers Men's Rival Running Shoe

I'm sure as of this writing, everybody who has bought a pair here did so as a Gold Box deal last week. For that price ($35), I cant imagine getting better shoes. They are running shoes, but I mostly use them for walking, lol. As with most Skecher running shoes I've bought in the past, these have a slight angle that helps with pronating, which most Americans at least, tend to do (walking with feet pointing out rather than forward). They are super bouncy on the inside, which is to say, they have lots of cushion. The blue and orange pair I bought also looks really nice IMO, and the addition of an extra set of laces (one white, one blue) is a nice added bonus. Anyway, I've worn them for two days now and am quite happy with them. For me, these shoes tend to last about 6 months with daily wear or longer if you own many pairs of shoes and alternate. If this changes, I will update this review.

These are pretty nice shoes. I wore them once for an hour or so and that's all because sketchers seem to run small compared to other brands. I'd recommend buying a half size up.

The first pair we received was too small. Issued a return claim and received the second pair within 3 days. (Same shipping time as the original) It's a Skecher, of course it's a great product.Order a half size bigger than you think. My biggest dote here is on the speed of delivery and the ease of exchange....definately recommended !!!!! AAAA+

Honest reviews on Skechers Men's Rival Running Shoe

In the day and age of $200 Nikes it's nice to get a nice looking, comfortable pair of sneakers that compare to the more expensive brands for a mere $35 (Goldbox offer). My blue pair came with an extra pair of matching blue laces along with the white, which I thought was a nice touch. I'll definitely pick up a pair of black ones if these go on sale again.

I bought these on sale, with the intent of using them as loose tied knock abouts. Worked quite well, but do have 1 knit to pick. Typical of most cheap shoes, to narrow for those of us with wide feet (EE). What this means to me is that my small toes chafe on the side.

Only down side with all J's the front begins to wrinkle a little not a big deal. I did change to the black laces though and it definitely brought the shoe out more. I love them!

I like the sckechers shoes over all. But the velcro stop sticking after 5-6 months.

My kids love these shoes. Easy to wear.

I bought one pair of these for each of my young boys and they have held up very well (we're on week 2 now that that's usually when shoes start to show a little wear and tear with these guys)! They have nice lights without being too annoying or distracting and the cushioning seems to be comfortable for them when they're running around on the sidewalk. They seem to have redesigned these since the last Sketchers we bought and the velcro strap that pulls across to fasten them is a LOT better made now and I expect it should last as long as the toes (usually the first part to go).

Recommend these for active kids.

Reviews of ASICS Men's Spivey LD Running Shoe

ASICS Men's Spivey LD Running Shoe,Green/Black/Yellow,10 M US

I bought these spikes to replace my old Adidas adiStar MD 05 spikes. First off, these spikes are incredibly light, especially compared to my old adiStars. The asics website says these weigh 5 ounces a piece, but they feel much lighter on the feet. If you use these spikes in competition, you will definitely get a mental boost from them. Secondly, I bought the green/yellow variant, and they are just as vibrant as the display image. Since I wanted a bright pair of spikes, I was happy to find this to be true. Thirdly, the spikes come with a cross country claw that can be used to turn them into cross country spikes. The claw is a yellow plastic star that fits into the bottom of the shoe, with special golden spikes to be inserted into the plastic claw. However, I would not recommend them to be used in this fashion since I don't think the hard plastic on the bottom of the shoe won't hold up very well under cross country conditions. Racing flats should be racing flats and track spikes should be track spikes, but that's just my opinion. These shoes come with the slightly shorter than usual 3/16" pyramid spike as opposed to the 1/4", so be conscious of this fact when buying them.

These are rated for the 3,200 m through 10,000 m, but these should work well for distances down to the 1,500 m. However, the material around the toe box is quite thin so take this under advisement. Once I run a timed mile in these I'll edit my review as to if I've changed my thoughts.

EDIT (3/4/13):

I finally got around to running a timed mile in these and they felt great. Once you put them on and start running, they feel like they disappear on your foot. While running in these, I PR'ed by 10 seconds even though I haven't really increased the intensity or length of my runs. In my opinion, these spikes are a good choice for down to the 1,500 m. Below that though, you'll want to get a middle distance spike for the tougher construction. Even though I'm pretty in shape right now, the day after the timed mile I could feel it in my ankles and my calves. I think this is mostly due to me changing my stride and converting to be a forefoot striker, but the shoes may also have contributed since they are so light because they don't have a lot of cushioning. I recommend doing some barefoot running on the grass or infield in order to get your legs used to the extra forces it will endure without cushioning from regular running shoes.

A word of advice: Make sure you clip your toe nails when you get to run in these. The toe box material isn't that frail, but I'd err on the side of caution. After all, it wouldn't be fun to buy a new set of spikes and then tear the toe box with your toe nails.

This is an outstanding spike. It snugs up nicely on the foot without feeling tight or cramped in the toe box or mid foot. I tried on every spike in the store before settling on the Asics Spivey LD. On the track, it's the most comfortable spike I've ever worn. With other spikes, there is a very noticeable "spike" feel. That wasn't the case with the Spivey LD. After the first few steps, I forgot that I was wearing spikes and I could concentrate on the workout. Even though it's a long distance spike, I plan to use them for the 800m and 1500m. My old spikes were one of the top-of-the-line Nike models. The Spivey LD fits better and feels like it transfers more power to the track than the Nike. I have several racing flats and a couple of spikes in this weight range, but none have the feeling of power transfer that I get wearing these spikes.

Equally important, after three hard workouts, I have no spike-related injuries. Usually, my feet and ankles get nagging little injuries when I switch over to spikes, but that has not been the case with the Spivey LD.

Another reviewer mentioned that the spikes themselves are slightly shorter -3/16 instead of 1/4 inch. I ran tonight in the rain on a wet track. In my warm up racing flats, I could feel my shoes slipping a lot with every step. In the Spivey LD, I noticed no slipping at all in spite of the fact that puddles were forming on the track. I'm happy with the shorter spikes. The fit is true to size.

After buying a pair of Chaco's in Montana and wearing them for the next 7 days I bought 3 more pairs when I got back to So Ca and love them. Delivery was on time the shoe performed as advettised. I am hard to fit I especially like the round toe. The shoe is true to size I usually buy a 12 it fit perfect and is really comfortable on my daily 5 mile walks.

This is not a running shoe plus I do not hike so I could not comment. It is comfortable walking and does not slip on wet grass. They are advertised as water resistent this doesn't mean waterproof they will eventually get wet on the inside but as quick as a regular sneaker. I have the tar color and black I definitely like the black.

They are eye catching but not overly flashy. They are even more comfortable than you would expect for the money. I walk different in them because it's like walking on goodness.

If you can't find an all white shoe you like...these are just as good, the colors on the top of the shoe are pretty subtle.

I have no input on their performance for running. I have not been chased in them, so I haven't ran in them yet. But, I feel as though if danger were imminent, or someone challenged me physically, I would watch them get smaller as I ran away in the Perfect Shoe.

I love these shoes! I am actually thinking about purchasing a second pair before I can't find them. I love ASICS for their supreme comfort and functionality, but I sometimes have trouble finding ASICS that are aesthetically appealing to the eye. I love the look of these shoes and bought them primarily for wearing them with jeans and snowy, muddy weather in general. I've been wearing them for several weeks and they have been great. The comfort is among the best of any shoe I've owned (as all ASICS are) and I really like the way they look with jeans. The traction is ample and the support is good, although I don't have any intensive support needs. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a solid trail running shoe or just something to wear around comfortably.

Critical information: I am 6'3" and weigh 230...a pretty big guy. I regularly hike segments of the Appalachian Trail and do so in trail runners.

I bought these shoes due to the ASICS reputation and the agressive tread, thinking it would be a great shoe for me for the trail. Right out of the box, the fit and feel is GREAT. In 152 miles I put on the shoe in the first 9 days of ownership, I never got a blister or even a hot spot. Great fitting shoe. However, within a few hours on the trail, cracks began to form at the base of the lugs. Within four days (only about 60 miles), the second lug from the back on both shoes separated and began to tear away, eventually tearing off, on both shoes (in spite of trying to use duct tape and gorilla glue to keep them stable). Once that lug was gone, the large lug on the back was unprotected and began to tear away. By the sixth day on the trail (about 100 miles), I had more duct tape than lugs. It made for a very sketchy last 50 miles, wondering if I was going to be barefoot before I got back to civilization!

I loved the shoes and, perhaps, my weight (230) plus the weight of my backpack (30 lbs), combined with the rocky, rough, and sometimes steep terrain of the AT were too much for the shoes. They do not advertise a load rating...but I'd be willing to say that, if you weigh over 180...and/or if you do any trail running or hard backpacking...these are probably NOT the shoes to get. If you're a lightweight and/or just plan to use these around the house, they do feel superb.

Honest reviews on ASICS Men's GEL-Kahana 4 Running Shoe

I got this shoes last week, on MOnday, just in time for my 10K race on Sunday. Had just about enough time to break into them. From my first run with them I felt like I was stepping on clouds, they feel so soft on each step, but its not only that, when I did my sprints I felt that each bounce really propelled me. Yesterday I finished my 10K race and my feet felt great and comfy. I was a fan of the Pegasus 26 and had a short enchantment with the Lunar Glides, but these running shoes are really something. Outstanding.

let it be known i'm rocking out to george michael right now--so i am thrilled to write a positive review for this fine product.

my dad suffers from overpronation. except he didn't known of his foot condition until recently when i made him aware. i believe my exact words were "dad, your feet are totally janky." he often wore his shoes out in certain way: the medial (inner) side of his shoes were ground-down to not much of anything. and he suffered from sore feet.

then one day, daddy came home with new sneakers (the catalyst..a turning point). he bragged to me and mom that they only cost $16. they were hideous shoes. so...since father's day was coming upon us, we needed to rid the house of the eyesore dad called his "hot new sneaks," and i love problem-solving...i decided to find a solution on the interwebs resulting in new shoes for dad.

i researched his problem and found a name for his foot condition (overpronation). i learned that overpronators need "motion control" and "stability"--you must find these words in your shoe product description. most shoes that address motion control and stability are very expensive. and they look straight-up geriatric.

these shoes are neither expensive nor geriatric. he loves them to death and wears them every day. so i win, and the rest of my stupid siblings have a lot of catching-up to do.

Well they aren't a bad shoe, they are comfortable, and as previously stated they do keep your feet dry, and they are extremely light. I did love how i could feel EVERYTHING!! Proprioception ftw, though i digress.

Unfortunately, the cons kind of outweigh the pros in my opinion.

-Duribility: No, none what so ever; They hardly lasted me a week. I basically had the same problem everyone else seems to be having. The rim connecting the bottom and top of the shoe just started coming apart. Also,(this one is due to getting up walls)the bottom of the shoe just shreds. It falls apart extremely fast in my opinion, i got a gaping hole right where my big toe is and there are more holes forming around it. (which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that it only took a few days to a week of training for the holes to start appearing).

-Traction: At first the traction was great, but as time went on they would only connect to certain types of metalic surfaces. So you would have to be EXTREMELY careful when planning a precision. Now before you go and say "Psh no traction creates a better challenge" or "this guy just doesn't know what he is doing", no, it is BAD. You are better off literally going barefoot.

-Price: The price of this shoe is absolutely ridiculous and not worth what you are paying for it. I could crap a better shoe and i wouldn't sell it for this much. I know something about this shoe just calls to you. Ya, well don't don't do it! Save your money for a shoe that will actually last and be wearable even if it is falling apart. Once this shoe dies.. it's gone and you will want to buy another pair, because that first week of having them is absolutely great.

Keep in mind that this is just my experience with the shoe, and yours might be better. I am just trying to give a traceur's perspective because those within parkour/freerunning community are curious as to if it is worth it, i know i was. In conclusion, this shoe just could not keep up with me and expired before i could really enjoy them.

Have you ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend who was always there for you, but could snap at any second; leaving you in emotional distress and purging on Ben & Jerry's ice cream?

Yeah, that's these shoes.

The fit is amazing. I have a wider foot, but never had problems with normal width shoes. These shoes seem like they're tailored to people with my problem, or maybe it could be that these shoe companies are on to something by finally designing shoes that are foot shaped. I wonder why it took so long, as you wouldn't buy pants that aren't leg shaped or gloves that aren't hand shaped. Anyways, the toe box on this shoe is the most innovative thing I've seen since reusable coffee filters. The quality is another story. The shoe itself does seem flimsy, and I'm not sure how long it will hold up. I bought these as a more socially-acceptable day-to-day barefoot shoe, and I couldn't be happier with them. Hopefully the volume of my daily use won't quickly lead to degradation. The best part about these shoes is taking the sole out, and feeling the ground with each step. These actually feel like you're barefoot without the feeling of having something between your toes. The price tag is steep for the appearance of quality, but only time will tell. I just hope they provide me with a few solid months of protection. I love them for the feel, fit, and look. Though I can't help but feel like the quality is a low blow from Vivo based on that price tag.

Best Deals on Vivobarefoot Men's Aqua Lite Running Shoe

I used these on two ~5 mile runs in winter 2012. I wanted these to be more water resistant and more socially acceptably looking running shoes than my KSO Vibram Five Fingers.

I like:

low to the ground

light

my feet stayed dry despite snow, my KSO Vibram Five Fingers soak instantly

look good

I don't like:

durability: the red line around the shoe joining sole with the upper detached in both shoes (where toes bend, inside side). Maybe because it was -5 Celsius, still, I'll need to replace or return them. I hope it's some faulty series or something that will be fixed in future products.

fit: while the toebox is spacious it's shape is too rounded for me and the big toe is touching the end of the shoe despite I got one size larger. At the same time the shoe extends forward beyond my foot very far beyond smaller toes which subtracts from barefoot feeling as it rubs the ground when running.

barefoot feel front: the sole is very flexible but because of it's curved shape (toebox lift) it's hard to press with your toes against the ground which I consider important when stabilizing your foot in middle stance when running

barefoot feel heel: the heel is more spacious than I would like as a result, when I balance on one leg and move my knee sideways, the shoes does not move with my foot, it is immobile on it's wide heel and so the top of the shoe rubs uncomfortably against bottom of my ankle.

In summary, I'm disappointed with these shoes. Not only they aren't durable, I also don't consider them good barefoot shoes as they don't facilitate (heel) or even prevent (toebox) stability of my foot.

Honest reviews on Vivobarefoot Men's Aqua Lite Running Shoe

I waited a while to write the review on these shoes to determine just how much I really like them. And while they are not perfect (I prefer Vibram FiveFingers, but I bought these for work since they don't look so funky) I really really like them. They fit a little loose, which is kind of the point in this case, so that your foot can splay out and move properly. I generally like the feel of a tighter fitting glove like shoe, like the vibrams, but that just wouldn't work in a standard shoe shape like this.

The felt material they are made out of made me worry that they would fall apart, but I haven not had any issues whatsoever yet with the material or the seams, and I wear them every day. The laces do tend to come untied after a while, but it doesn't really bother me. I just tie them again. It might be an issue if you were running long distances in these. I generally just walk in them, but I have ran in them some as well, usually under a mile.

I took the the insole out and it gives me a great ground feel. The sole does wrap around up the sides a little bit, but you really can't go through much of a puddle before water comes in the sides.

They breath nicely for what they are made from. I usually have very warm feet and I haven't had too much of a problem with these shoes.

Not sure what else to say, but I love them. I would probably buy them again, despite them being a little bit high price. I definitely recommend for someone that wants the absolutely barefoot shoes that don't LOOK like barefoot shoes.

I'm a mid\forefoot runner, however never could settle for the minimalist trend. My regular runner shoes are Mizuno Prophecy & Asics numbus.

Never tried Reebok before, but the Zig is out there for a while so thought about giving it a try. However, for me it's just not it.

If you're a heel striker maybe it will. I did like the upper a lot, however that doesn't help with unmatched midsole.

Reebok, in general, use good *material* but there's luck of sports engineering. IMO

This is my 3rd set of Zigs. I'm extremely hard on shoes and wear them as my daily footwear. Reebok seem to fit me more true to size and have much better durability than say Nike's. I wear Nike's out in 4 months. I keep my Zigs over a year (dates of purchase below).

My first set of Zigs were the Reebok Zig Flow (2/9/11). I wore them during the Paramedic program and put a serious amount of time and miles on them. They are still the best shoes I've ever worn comfort wise (need more time in the Ultra's but they are contenders so far). My only complaint was that the sole wasn't as durable as other shoes and rocks constantly got stuck in them. They did still last the entire Paramedic program you could just see how much had worn off. Based on my recommendation 2 other class mates purchased them. We were doing 12-24 hour shifts to get our required calls done and these helped fight fatigue in our feet. I still used them as my yard work shoes until I bought these ZigUltra's.

My second set were the Reebok Zig Wilds (5/30/12). I picked these as they look more durable. They definitely were. The downside was they were never as comfortable. The soles held up better and rocks were not as big an issue so both my prior complaints had been addressed. I just wish they retained the pervious comfort. I don't care for round laces as they come untied easier. These are now my yard work shoes. Answer Reebok ZigUltra.

Reebok ZigUltra (10/12/13) I'm extremely happy with them so far. I've worked out once and took my dogs on a walk 3 times so far besides my usual daily wear. They are more comfortable than the wilds and feel lighter too. Very much reminiscent of my first zigs. They have a lower profile sole keeping your feet closer to ground which is welcomed for weight lifting and working out. The sole has zones with softer parts for better impact absorbstion as well as stiffer parts for durability. Seems they combined the sole from my previous 2 shoes and it works. These are comfortable. Thank god these have flat laces. My old zigs came untied a lot. The eyelets keep the laces flat while laced up. These just feel like a refined version of my first Zig. The upper also seems more refined and really hugs my foot. I won't know about durability until I go to replace them but so far I'm happy. They say Black/Rivet Grey/Flat Grey/Pure Silver but are a dark blue as you can see in the photo. I love The color they are a nice looking dark blue, goes great with jeans. I don't care for flashy shoes and these just look nice.
