the shoes were everything i thought they would be fit is nice they are comfortable and i have gotten many compliments on them the 2 times ive worn them..

Discount Marugo Sports Jog Jika-Tabi: Black with Laces (25.5cm)
I bought two pair of these: black and white.
The rubber soles are of excellent quality. There is no added heel, so it is essentially "zero drop". The leather in spots is mentioned as pig skin. The rest of the build is not much better than a pair of wrestling shoes, so I wouldn't pay over 60 bucks a pair for them shipped. Toe room is fine. The permanent insole is crude and I'd rather it used thermoplastic blue gel with cloth covering for better comfort.
Also, the mid-foot has far too much room, even with an additional insole added and it laced as tight as possible. Even the heel area is probably too large, as well. So you do have good toe area and sufficient ankle hole width, but everything in between could be made more narrow for the possibility of a snug fit around the arch and top foot.
Sizing is a bit long in length. The insole measurement in centimeters should probably be your actual foot length rounded up to the nearest. So as a 26cm, I think I should have gone with the same, not a 27cm as recommended. Since I'm trying them with additional insoles right now, it works out and isn't too bad. The mid-foot is wide enough that the insoles I added don't totally fill out the mid-width zone near the arch.
I'll probably eventually get another pair of two of my exact size to try without additional gel insoles, along with some heavy-duty, thick tabi socks. I would prefer to have the option of a non-hi-top sneaker-like design, though I realize these are much less hi-top than usual jika-tabi.
Nonetheless, among the available options out right now (the Onitsuka Tiger (Asics) Marathon Tabi and Nike Air Rifts aren't easy to obtain) these Maruga Sports Jogs are still unquestionably a reasonable choice at the price I paid for road jogging, trail running, soccer, basketball, wresting, weightlifting, and everyday use... And of course for you budding ninjas.
Update: In retrospect, I don't think the shoe is really that overly long. I also find the toe width on the outside around the little toes to be no better than the Nike Air rifts. They could be more foot-shaped and actually taper *less*. The insole/midsole/outsole (don't care which) could be a little thicker... uniformally, of course. And the tread has a tendency to pick up and embed pepples and small rocks in it. This is easy to fix when you get back home. They've held up well so far, but I'm thinking a lower-drop neoprene Air Rift, even without the needed further refinement of its toe shape, would be superior for activies such as running and walking. It's hard to say how an improved Jika-Taba would compare. The thicker-soled (relative to the Classic and Sport) Vibram Five Fingers are also superior. Neither the Rifts nor the VFFs are quite as good at activities such as wrestling, crosstraining, etc. I am getting good use out of the high-top Marugos on my exercise equipment with ankle holders. Useful padding.

I have been practicing Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu for more than a year. As we do the great majority of our training outside, I needed a good pair of jikatabi that could take a beating. These definitely fit the bill. I have larger calves, so higher jikatabi do not fit me and size extenders are simply inconvenient. These boots are so comfortable, so form-fitting, and so rugged that I plan to buy another pair as soon as my current pair wear out. I even wear them hiking. I can't praise these enough. If you can't get your pair on Amazon, hunt them down.

Discount ASICS Men's GEL-Venture 3 Trail Running Shoe
I'm an overweight walker, wear a size 8.5, and have been buying very good ASICS cushioned running shoes. Problem is all the shoes I have used wear out (lose their cushioning) within 6-9 months. I walk between 9-12 miles a week and hate seeing $70-$100 ASICS Cumulus running shoes get replaced so quickly. I figured, since all shoes lose their cushioning faster with heavier users then why not try some cheaper shoes.
I picked the Gel Venture 3 Trail shoes because I noticed the Cumulus becoming marshmallow like on hot days when they were closer to the end of their life span and because my ASICS Neo Walkers were wearing very quickly on the soles. The Venture trail running shoes have a stiffer bottom of slower wearing black material. They do not flex as well when brand new but give them 5 or 10 miles of use and they are great. Cushioning is less than the Cumulus but give a more secure feel and I have had no shin splints develop. They breathe a bit less than the Cumulus but are warmer in the winter. So far they are great and the experiment seems to prove that I don't necessarily need the higher end shoes. The gel in the heel works well and since I am not running, I really do not need the forefoot gel of the Cumulus. Also, the gel is centered on the heel(better for the heel strike of a walker)vs the Cumulus runner where the gel is pushed toward the outside of the heel.
Only drawback may be slight break-in and the fact that the laces are pretty slippery and come undone more easily than other ASICS I have had. You just have to tie them tight. I lucked out and found mine for $40 at that lower end "french department store chain ....Jacque Penney" :)

Not impressed at all with this shoe. Asics road shoes are fine. I have a pair that i've been using on the treadmill and the road for the past several months. But these Asics trail shoes are a different story. Too spongy, no feel, the stability is shaky over rocks and roots, the heel to toe drop is too pronounced for a comfortable trail run at any distance over a couple miles, it's like running on a pedestal. After a few miles on even a moderate trail with rocks, roots, and changes in elevation it really takes its toll on your feet, knees, and hip flexors. When you attempt to run properly, with changes to your stride on hills and dealing with smaller obstacles in your way the shoes end up hurting your toes. Going down even slight grades turned into an a very painful exercise that a trail runner cannot afford, safety wise. The weight of the shoe is also a problem, as in the sho is much too heavy considering the minimal protection afforded the wearer. And although I'm not one that has to love the way their shoes look, I'm still human and enjoy shoes that aesthetically pleasing. It seems that Asics was trying to get into a more modern scheme with the colors, incorporating the bright yellow/green citron shade that many shoe makers are using right now. Asics' attempt, unfortunately, is a disaster. The shoes don't look good. More importantly, the shoes, just don't look right. The citron yellow/green is two different shades in different places, and the shades are just similar enough to tell that they aren't meant to contrast or compliment, but they just clash and really makes the shoe look sort of silly. Looks like a bad shoe from the mid 80's. In short, I've worn these 3 times now over the past 6 days and logged only about 14 miles in them. 7 of those are on a mix of light trails and pavement. I couldn't use them any longer b/c they were that bad. I have normal sized feet, unlike so many reviewers on here who apparently have size triple F width feet. If I needed a toe box the size of a small lifeboat, then perhaps i would think that "hey, maybe it's just me." But I don't. And I know how to properly run trails. And even with a normal width foot, these shoes crushed my toes during a short trail run. Never again. I'm done with these. Asics really failed with this shoe. It's as if the designers NEVER ran on a trail. And then just suddenly decided one day to design a trail shoe that ultimately doesn't do very well running on trails. That's this shoe. Sorry Asics. You had me, but after buying and using the Gel Venture 3, you've lost me. Move on folks, there's nothing to see here. My 10 year old was in need of a good pair of shoes to help support her ankles and I purchased these for her along with a set of arch supports and right away she felt relief from her pain. I have flat feet all my life and have been trying different in sole support and arch support, I have to say this one works the best by far. It is like custom made because the whole thing can be adjusted to fit...from the top to the bottom of the straps to the placement of the little cushion. The only negative I have to say is that I was not aware that there is only one support in the package, usually it comes with a pair. I just found it a bit deceiving not to state that, but may be I did not read the description carefully. But in any case, I think it should be stated in the product name. So if you add up the price for a pair, it is very pricey. I would probably not buy this if I knew, but then I would never know this product is the best (in my opinion). It is pricey but I am very happy with it because it works, and I rather spend money on works.

This is a good concept but I feel that it falls short of its claims. This may help some people but not everyone. The strap allows the product to be adjustable to accommodate a wide range of foot sizes; also the support cushion can be placed in the specific area where you may need it on the brace. I feel the big downside of this product is the actual support it provides. There is a tear shaped support cushion that goes in the bottom of the brace, this cushion is comfortable but unless you are wearing a shoe or have your foot flat on the floor it fails to provide any benefit in my opinion. I feel that the description makes brief reference to wearing this while wearing shoes but does not list it as only being effective when wearing shoes. I also feel that in comparison to other items on the market it is extremely expensive because they are sold individually.Again, this product may help some people but has not really given me any benefit that would make it worth the price.

I have a bad bunion and was having some discomfort on the inside of my foot. It felt like I needed more support so I purchased the arch support. It really helped quite a bit. It was easy to fit. I was able to run 6 miles while wearing it and didn't have any skin breakdown. Cheap Zoot Women's Ultra Kane Running Shoe
I absolutely love these shoes! I learned about Zoot about 2 months ago and I don't think I will ever go with a different brand. I'm using these to train for a full marathon and my only complaint is that I feel like I need more cushion after 12-13 miles. I have unusually high arches so it may just be that I need a little more arch support. I highly recommend when training for a road race!

I love that there's no tongue to get shoved in when I pull on this shoe. The first time I ran in them, I did get a blister on a back heel but that was because my sock had ridden down and the skin rubbed. I don't run in these shoes sock-less and I've fixed the sock problem so that doesn't happen anymore. The shoes took a little getting used to, my arches were achy the first couple weeks. But otherwise, they're great. I was instantly able to jump up from my plateau of 3 to 5 miles and a month later, I'm up to 6-8, three times a week.
I will definitely buy this shoe again and look into this brand's other offerings.

Very happy with these shoes. They look great and feel even better. The upper is so soft and stretchy, good arch support, like walking on a cloud. I just slip them on, so they are easy, comfortable, and very cool looking. I don't run, but I walk everyday. You don't need to run a marathon to wear them. I've never heard of this brand but I guess these shoes are made for sock-less running and triathlons. They were on sale ($40) so I gave them a shot. People said they were snug with a really wide toebox and I'm a 5 1/2 but the only size left was a 6. My feet are flat but they're not considered wide. I was concerned since I think the shoe is flatter than the typical running shoe and that's where the concern about tight fit came in. My toes do have adequate wiggle room and they do offer great support. I purchased these because of the high ratings they received and the good (discounted) price. I am a triathlete and so I thought that these by Zoot would be perfect. While the fit was good and they look cool, I found that the medial toe box/metatarsal area was quite wide. What I mean is that the medial portion of the shoe sticks out and so when running and walking, I kept rubbing my feet together. Granted, I have a narrow gait, but this is the first pair of shoes I have ever owned that regularly hit together while running and walking causing me to almost fall multiple times. If you have a wider base of support/gait, you'll probably be fine. I have been using my new running shoes for a few weeks now and I love them. The only problem is that wearing them without socks is pretty painful and created some blisters in the inside of my heel but they are light and I bought them at a great price!
Cheap Vivobarefoot Women's Achilles Sandal
These shoes were extremely uncomfortable due their construction with a very hard plastic. I didn't wear them for five minutes before my toes were aching from the plastic rubbing in between them.

You have to get use to the plastic between your toes. For me, there was a break in period & I do notice it for a few minutes after I initially put them on. The best way to describe is that it feels the same as the plastic between your toes on a pair of cheaper flip--flops. I broke mine in by resting my shoes on a foot heater to warm up the plastic to try to "mold" the plastic better around my toes/feet.
The light gray/crimson is the perfect choice for summer. The light gray is more like a silver gray & doesn't make your foot look dark/heavy. The strap is fine on my foot & there is room to loosen it up, but my foot size was on the short end of the large, so I'm not sure whether a foot on the high side of the sizing would have strap issue.
Sizing: my foot is on the low end of the large & there is additional foot-bed space for a larger foot. Although I probably could have gotten away with a medium, my toes are long, so I appreciate the toe room in the large (that is why I didn't exchange the shoe). Despite the fact that my foot is on the low end of the sizing, it is not noticeable when I walk.
Walking: I only walk in these shoes, and they are comfortable. They are designed to be protection only & they do protect my feet from rough and/or hot surfaces. The plastic foot-bed is very flexible.

New Balance Men's M1080 Running Shoe Reviews
Yay! Partial redemption for New Balance with the 1080V2, after blowing it big-time with its predecessor, the 1080 (which we'll call 'V1' to avoid confusion).
New Balance had a SWEET thing going before the 1080V1, namely the 1060 Series (i.e. NB 1060 through 1064)... which were all more or less awesome shoes. Terrific shock absorption, great fit, very neutral, made in the USA, came in widths. Even usually had a few 'grown up' color schemes. 1060 Series was pretty much EVERYTHING you'd want in a shoe, or close.
Then New Balance decided to 'fix' what didn't need fixing. Result was the crap-tastic 1080V1.
The V1 somehow managed to be a neutral cushioning shoe that was neither neutral nor cushioning. The fit was still good, but the shoe's tendency to roll your foot strongly to the outside was ridiculous for an allegedly 'neutral' shoe, and this only got worse with age as the foam broke down. They also felt stiff and downright 'weird'. This was the shoe that sent me back to Nike briefly.
But Nike screwed the pooch too... the Vomeros I had were superior cushioning-wise, but they were also very high and narrow in the last (i.e. were 'ankle-breakers'), even in their allegedly 'wide' width (I take a 2E). Nike apparently likes to save money by using the same last in different-width shoes, only the uppers get wider, apparently. New Balance, on the other hand, will usually give you a wider last/platform in their wide shoes, as the shoe gods and common sense intended.
So okay, let's give New B another chance. Will they screw it up twice?
1080V2 comes out. Cushioning is improved over the 1080, though still not quite back to 1060 Series standard. Criticisms/areas for improvement?
* They may have taken the whole 'fitted' thing too far in the ankle area. The collar of the shoe is quite aggressively/tightly fitted to you... some may like this, but it definitely annoyed me. Size-wise, I can wear either a 9.5 or a 10, and I chose the larger shoe just to get some relief from the aggressive collar. With the size-10s it's no longer an issue for me, and I can definitely see others choosing to buy these a bit large too. With the V1s and the 1060 series shoes, I was wearing the 9.5s.
* In the forefoot area, the V2s nail it in terms of width, but the amount of *vertical* room inside the shoe @the forefoot is a bit lacking. Again, another overly-aggressive stab at making the shoe extremely 'fitted' to you. And again, another reason to go a tiny bit large when buying this shoe.
* NB could up the cushioning slightly. These feel more 'bouncy' than plush, as if they used a more resilient foam with lots of 'recoil'. Is fairly cushiony even so, but the bouncy foam seems slightly harder on my knees than the plusher shoes I've worn. However, 'more plush' shouldn't be done if it will turn the shoe into a tall, high ride-height 'ankle-breaker' -type deal. But if it's just a matter of the shoes weighing a half-ounce more...
* Could use the tiniest bit more arch support. Are a tad bit too 'flat' front-to-back. Even a significantly inferior (but popular) shoe such as the Nike Pegasus gets this more right than the 1080 does, last I checked anyway.
* Needs a color option for grown-ups. Yes, the silver & navy color scheme is that, but it's only readily available in the UK, not the US. The three color schemes that *are* available here are varying degrees of 'almost, but not quite'. C'mon New Balance, many of your buyers are over 30 and aren't afraid to look it. In other words, you don't have to be a 'Nike' about this... you aren't hip, and that's what's hip about you. Just ONE fully grown-up color scheme, that's all we ask.
(editJust saw the color choices on the new 1080 V3, and sadly NB seems to have ignored the advice in the above paragraph... all 3 color schemes are varying degrees of getting whomped with the ugly stick. What's so hard about that ONE grown-up color choice, NB? Some of us not only run in our shoes but also like to go to work in them too. Sigh.)
Points for improvement aside, the V2's still a worthy shoe overall, and a vast improvement over the V1. I'm happy I got 'em in fact, I'm now on my third pair, and I may order a couple pairs more before they're sold out (in part to avoid the awful V3 color schemes =o ).
And if future 1080 versions fine-tune the 'fitted feel' and cushioning for the better, the unthinkable may actually occur... we might not miss the amazing 1060 Series anymore.
Well, at least until New Balance again 'fixes' what doesn't need fixing, of course. =\

I offer that these may be too lightly constructed. However, in all fairness am I a "big boy", so these may work just fine for a smaller, lighter person.
The fit was great though.
New Balance had a SWEET thing going before the 1080V1, namely the 1060 Series (i.e. NB 1060 through 1064)... which were all more or less awesome shoes. Terrific shock absorption, great fit, very neutral, made in the USA, came in widths. Even usually had a few 'grown up' color schemes. 1060 Series was pretty much EVERYTHING you'd want in a shoe, or close.
Then New Balance decided to 'fix' what didn't need fixing. Result was the crap-tastic 1080V1.
The V1 somehow managed to be a neutral cushioning shoe that was neither neutral nor cushioning. The fit was still good, but the shoe's tendency to roll your foot strongly to the outside was ridiculous for an allegedly 'neutral' shoe, and this only got worse with age as the foam broke down. They also felt stiff and downright 'weird'. This was the shoe that sent me back to Nike briefly.
But Nike screwed the pooch too... the Vomeros I had were superior cushioning-wise, but they were also very high and narrow in the last (i.e. were 'ankle-breakers'), even in their allegedly 'wide' width (I take a 2E). Nike apparently likes to save money by using the same last in different-width shoes, only the uppers get wider, apparently. New Balance, on the other hand, will usually give you a wider last/platform in their wide shoes, as the shoe gods and common sense intended.
So okay, let's give New B another chance. Will they screw it up twice?

I Purchased the 1080 V2 shoes at the same time as New Balance 610s. I intended the 610s for casual wear and the 1080s for running. The 610s crapped out within a month and a half (see my Amazon review). The 1080 V2s are AWESOME! I purchased these for running and they met the challenge. I'm 6'3" 240 lbs, a neutral gait runner. The 1080s fit great, were plenty wide for my super wide feet, were lightweight, and provided great cushioning. These line of nike roshe flywire's run a little bigger than the regular and og roshes. To adjust simply get .5 size down. The biggest improvement on these is the nylon like material which you never thought nike could have improved on. I have been wearing these sockless since the material feels much more comfortable than your typical cotton socks. Highly recommended as a fashionable walking /occasional jogging shoe.comfortable and supportive; swapped the crimson laces for black. flywires give the heels a more snug feel, but not in a bad way.
