I got these shoes from a local store at around the same price. I will be ordering another pair because I am picky when it comes to shoes. I paid more than the current price for my size (77.99). I feel that they run true to size and are so comfortable. They are very light shoes which is great, but have a lot of stability when running. I prefer to run cross country rather than on the road and these work great. As far as the term breathe I cannot agree more. I wore these on a cold day and wow they really do breathe a lot. When I run in them they keep my feet nice and cool, and it really is the first pair that i noticed how much they breathe.

All in all great shoes and so far they seem durable. I would recommend these shoes, and I will probably grab another pair probably from Amazon this time before they do not have anymore.

I have always lived by the mantra that running is for thieves and Kenyans (the invariable winners of the Boston Marathon), but since I'm over 40 now and I seem to gain weight if I so much as inhale a particle of fat, I had to break my rule of not running unless someone were chasing me with a big knife. So, I went onto Amazon (my go-to source for everything) and I looked for a pair of shoes that would make me not hate it as much as I used to when I ran to lose weight in my youth. These things are a feather-weight God-send at around 6 ounces; they actually make me feel light and bouncy, which is difficult since at 44 I am anything but. Since I'm not training for the Boston Marathon and am only logging about 10 to 15 miles/week in them, I'm not overly concerned about shock absorption or other technical stuff that serious runners think about (I think). Overall, great shoes, even for us running haters!

I bought these for racing longer distances (10k-12K-half marathons) where I needed more than a standard racing flat but still wanted a lightweight shoe...these are perfect for that, but surprisingly, they are my new favorite for daily runs as well. Seriously, these are great trainers! So much lighter than my former favorite, the Kinvara. Note on sizing: These run a 1/2 size small, I am normally an 8.5 in Saucony but take a 9 in the A5 with thin wool socks

In the quest for minimalist running shoes I found these and was not disappointed. I violated the rule of not wearing a brand new pair of shoes before racing in them, but they were fine for a 5K. I am not sure that I would want to wear them for a much longer race. They are very, very light-5.1 ounces in a women's size 9, definitely lighter than the Nike Frees which I usually wear (6.4 ounces). As such, there's not much to them, so don't expect much support. Personally, I'd like more arch support but they fit well enough with plenty of room for a wide forefoot. They run true to size and I like the color combination.

I love these shoes. I have tried the Saucony Hattoris and hated them because of blisters, but these Type A5s are amazing. I wear them barefoot and have no problem with blisters and since switching to flat style shoes I have eliminated knee pain. The only problem I have with them, which I am sure can not be avoided anyway, is that they get smelly because of bare foot use. I would buy them one half size larger than your normal size.

I love the color on these and get lots of compliments when I wear them. I'm a little disappointed with them as a running shoe, though. I love how lightweight they are but they don't provide enough ankle support. After running in them for a days I noticed my ankles were sore. Also, if I walk through wet grass with them my socks get wet. So their strength (being lightweight) is their weakness (lack of support/element protection).

Rubber cleats (as opposed to the metal cleats you find for most baseball shoes) always seem to be of inferior quality. These are no huge exception. Decent cleats, which aren't very costly and shouldn't be.

I found these locally on sale and with a 20 percent off coupon I was out the door for $28. Not too bad, as I didn't buy them to use as a running shoe, but more of a knock-around, fishing, wear with jeans, walking shoe. Out of the box they fit very well, but they're not in the comfort league of good running shoes, so I replaced the insoles with some Profoot Miracles, which I really like, and now the comfort is noticeably better. Not sure about the durability, especially for running. The red part on the back of the heel area is painted on, and that's scraping off already. The label says the uppers are leather and man-made materials, but I can't identify any of it as leather. But the style looks decent to me, good cushioning, and no problems, so good deal for the price.

Ok before you think I'm completely off my rocker let me say this is a terrific shoe and is one of the most comfortable shoe I have had to wear. I don't run unless I'm escaping from somewhere or being chased so I use it for work (I'm a nurse) where I am on my feet all day. I have arthritis in my knees and need shoes that don't make my life totally ,miserable. These are very comfortable and really good to wear. I read the reviews and one said they " run big in size" well I ordered my size 10 1/2 and found it was small for my feet. Had to send them back because I had to put arch supports in and if they're already a bit small this didn't bode well. No hassle return and the new ones (11) were here almost before these were in the mail. Love them they're very good.

I bought this in the chocolate/champagne color although the champagne trim looks more like silver. It's a striking color combination.

I purchased a Saucony walking shoe last month but it's leather and presses right under the bone below the big toe of my left foot. Because these had so much mesh, I thought it would work better for me. I bought these in my regular 7.5M size, given the reviews of other ASICS athletic shoes but they don't feel wide enough. I used them this afternoon to walk my dog and by the end of a short 25 minute walk, I had red spots on both sides of my feet. Since our walks normally average 45 minutes, I can only use these for occasions where I will be walking very short distances or I know I will develop blisters. Hopefully with all the mesh, the shoe will eventually stretch out and they'll be more comfortable to use.

I'm giving it 3 stars, more for the appearance than for their utility as walking shoes.

Because I wear walking shoes most of the time, I look for different colors and styles to match my clothes. This shoe (penguin/silver/coral) caught my eye because it would look great with an outfit I'd planned on wearing to Disneyland. I ordered my usual street shoe size of 7M because my feet are shallow/bony and I prefer to wear thin cotton socks. They felt great from the first time I put them on and it's obvious they'll need no breaking in. There's room for my over-the-counter arch supports and the bunion on my larger foot is comfortably accommodated by the mesh fabric. The coral color seems more like a soft orange (to me). They match my orange clothes better than my coral ones.

After Disneyland:

These shoes are less supportive than my other walking shoes, which is fine most of the time since I walk almost exclusively on level ground. On the inclined paved areas of Disneyland, I felt the my foot moving in the shoe more than I would prefer. I wore them 1 of the 4 days and did not have this problem on the other 3 days when I wore my New Balance 760 walking or Merrell CTR Cruise shoes.

I also bought a pair of these shoes for my daughter who wore them on 2 days of the Disneyland trip. She got a small blister (not too annoying) on the underside of the middle toes on both feet, so obviously these shoes don't fit her as well as they do me. She is usually very easy to fit in all shoes so I was surprised, and a little disappointed.

Hokay so I bought these shoes after a lot of research. I work out 6 days a week for an hour each day, switching between the treadmill and the elliptical. I probably do 6-7 miles/day. I've had these shoes for 3 days now, and I've had no blisters or discomfort. They're very firm and offer good support, as I have high arches. The heel is a little higher than what I'm used to, but this is my first pair of "real" running shoes, so I'll get used to it. The only thing--I was deliberating between getting a 7B (regular) or a 7C/D (slightly wider), and I think I would have done better to chose the C/D. Running shoes in general narrow at the front, and had I taken that into account, I think the wider would have been a more comfortable fit for my foot. That said, I love these shoes and would highly recommend them to someone who, like me, is just starting out running and wants a solid pair of shoes.

I liked this shoe so well that I ended up buying a second pair. I was worried they would stop selling this shoe. I wanted something that was a little different but not neon and tool loud. I also wanted something that wouldn't show dirt but I didn't want black running shoes black is always a little too stark for me for running shoes. These are perfect. The grey doesn't show dirt and dust. The pale aqua accents add color but they aren't garish or loud. The lining is a cute aqua floral print that sort of has a Hawaiian look. They are cute enough that I don't mind occasionally wearing them with jeans or shorts if I need to have comfortable, casual shoes on my feet. These shoes are generally pretty comfortable for working out. For long days and lots of walking, one foot starts to hurt a tiny bit for me (I have a bunion on that foot that's pretty severe). I wear a size 6 in street shoes and boots but I normally wear 6 1/2 in running shoes. I got these in 6 1/2 and they are perfect. Final comment on why I love this shoe: it's made in the US, not many shoes are American made.

NOTE: it looks like NB changed the color of this shoe. The shoe I bought was a deep, steel grey with silver and grey trim and aqua accents. The colors were really nice deep grey but not black. The new photo looks like it's now pale grey and baby blue trim not the colors I bought.

Reviews of SOLE Dean Karnazes Signature Series Insoles

Buying insoles is something of a gamble. The ideal insole will support ones foot in its neutral position even under the increased stress of walking or running. The only sure way to achieve that is to make a mold of the feet and have the insoles custom made.

However, I've found that for my feet and biomechanics the Dean Karnazes insoles are a reasonable compromise. They fit almost as well as orthotics fitted by a podiatrist and cost much, much less. (Only a podiatrist can customize orthotics to alter the runner/walker's stride to reduce stress on an injured joint.)

In the past I've tried other insoles with mixed results. Superfeet green: The arch is too high for me; they're painful to walk on. They might be perfect for someone with high arches. Superfeet blue: They advertise them as being for low-volume shoes (e.g. dress loafers). The truth is that they are for people with lower arches, even if they wear high volume shoes. They feel a little high, but I walked with them daily for several months until I got the urge for better cushioning in the forefoot.

I tried ArchMolds blue. I liked the increased cushioning compared to Superfeet. However, the arch was a little too high. Twice I heated and molded them per the instructions, and now they're almost right.

The Dean Karnazes insoles just happen to match the shape of my arch better than the any of the others. The left one felt almost perfect from the start. I heat molded it once. I've heat molded the right one twice per the instructions. Now they are more comfortable than the ArchMolds.

However, my favorite has turned out to be from Montrail, the Enduro-Sole LP, even though they could use more padding in the forefoot. I heated the right one once to achieve a very good fit. A bonus is that they fit perfectly into my Montrail Hardrock hiking shoes. I'm not really a hiker, but at 285 lbs I figure I need the same all-around support as someone carrying a heavy backpack.

The bottom line is that the DKs may be perfect for you -or maybe not. They combine fairly aggressive, yet flexible arch support with better cushioning than some others. In any case they are well made and should last a long time.

Oh, and regardless of which insole is right for you, be sure you know your true shoe size before you make the purchase. My heel to ball size, as indicated by a Brannock device, is a full size larger than my heel to toe size. In my case going with the larger size insole better positions the arch support relative to my arch.

You get what you pay for. Quality product that performs well. Only negative is that I sometimes have to heat them twice to get the proper fit in my running shoes. Also, as with stiffer orthotics, they take my feet a week or so to get used to the new arch support. After that, golden! They have lasted me longer than many "off the shelf" orthotics.

The shoe is nice and the quaility is top notch. When they arrived, I tried them on with a pair of jeans and they actually look like everyday shoes you can wear. My teenage boys who are really into basketball shoes think they look great. My advice would be to listen to everyone that has given warnings about the EU shoe size differences. I normally wear at size 13 so I ordered a size 49 which is supposed to translate into a size 14. Well, the 49 barely fits me. I mean my toe is right at the top of the shoe. I like my athletic shoes to fit a little snug so I didn't send them back. Be sure to order 1 to 1.5 size large than what you wear in US. A 49.5 would have been perfect for me but they stop at a size 49.

I was looking for a shoe for use on my mountain bike that would also work on my road bike, and I think I've found a good match with this shoe. The upper seemed rigid at first, but once I took it for a ride, they worked out well and offered all the necessary protection and traction that I desired, without any discomfort. I loved the lace garage and had no worries about the laces interfering with the chain. I installed SPD cleats and the installation was fast and easy. I also appreciated that the cleat is recessed just enough that you don't notice it very much (if at all) when walking off the bike. It would be nice to see the shoe offered in other colors, but this is neutral enough for my needs. I do not like traditional cycling shoes and am pleased with the looks of this one as it is very much like a running shoe.

I typically wear a 9.5 or 10 so I got the 44's to start. My toes were at the end so I returned them for a size up (45) which convert to a US 11 and they're too big! I guess I'm some size in the middle, lucky me. They'll be OK since I can lace them snug but wish they were perfect cuz they're awesome every other way.

Note I suspect these are summer only shoes since I can actually feel the air coming thru the entire top toe surface area. Great ventilation but would be cold feet in low temps.

I really like them and would recommend if you have that perfect size foot. Great looking shoe and seem well made at this point.

.....really nice sneaker. In my opinion Puma seems to size their footware about a half size smaller than "normal". I am somewhere between an 11 and an 11 1/2 so knowing this I ordered a 12. Perfect! I think they also run on the narrow side just a little bit, which makes for a better fit. Keeping this info in mind when ordering may help you decide which size to order. Ordering shoes/sneakers online can be tricky and simply a pain in the neck in the event you have to return for an exchange. I originally saw these shoes in JC Penneys and fell in love with them.. I normally wear a size 10.5 shoe and Penney's had an 11 to try on. To my surprise they were tight and I was afraid they wouldn't stretch enough to be comfortable. JC Penneys didn't have any larger sizes in stock, so I took to Amazon.com to see if they had size a 11.5 available. Not only was I able to purchase the 11.5 size, but i saved 15 dollars including shipping over the cost at Penneys. The fit was great and wore them in evening while walking around Disney World for the weekend. I didn't get these shoes as an athletic shoe, I bought this shoe to wear casually with jeans. I'm not a fan of the looks of skechers so this is a great alternative. The looks are awesome and I received many compliments from people about them.

These shoes were perfect to wear on the plane and in Japan. They slip on and off easy, and they are very comfortable. I read that they come small, it's true, I wear a 10 1/2, so I ordered size 11, they fit perfect. They are a little narrow, may not be good if you have a wide foot or can't wear a narrow show. I think I'll order another pair for the future, so I'll have another pair when I wear these out. That's how much I like them.
