It is unfortunate that so far there has been no review for this pair of shoes. They are super light and extremely comfortable. I have bought a pair of mesh (size 8) and a pair of leather (size 7.5; even the columbia site doesn't have size 8 at the moment). They are both equally and very breathable, not as breathable as a pair of boat shoes to be sure, but even on 90+ degree days they would still keep your feet reasonably warm but definitely not hot. They are so light that you don't fell like wearing shoes at all: the mesh pair weigh 8.0oz/shoe and the leather one weighs 8.75oz/shoe. Since I can't really feel the difference, I picked the leather pair since they look nicer (i.e. the one with black leather, which are difficult to find now). Traction is good. Sizing is normal. The outsole is thin but surprisingly I feel very sufficient cushioning. Given the style and the construction, I think the Flightfoot is good for trail running but best for everyday wear. One more thing: the shoes have some but not a lot of arch support, which I personally don't mind but for some people it may be a concern.

I wanted something I could use "off road" at the local nature center paths. I have tried a wide variety of shoes over the past year running the gamut from traditional cushioned to full minimal vibram's and Merrell's. The Kinvara 2's have become my favorites and the shoe I compared all others to now. The Gel Racer's compare as well as anythign else I have tried. They have a very simialr feel to the Kinvara's. They are quite as lightweight and have a little greater heel drop differential, but they feel very similar on the foot.
The Gel Racer's are supposed to weigh in at around 8.8 oz in a Men's 9 which is about 2 oz's more than the Kinvara's but still on the lightweight side of things as far as shoes go. The heel to toe drop is approx. 6mm which is less then most traditioanl shoes (10-14mm) but more then a true minimal which is usually (0-2mm). 6mm is a good compromise in my opinion. I wear size 12's and that is what I order here. I found the fit to be spot on and these are very comfortable.
The upper is well made. Seems to be better quality than the Kinvara's. The heel offers gel cushioning which doesn't mean as much to me as I tend to run more on my midfoot and forefoot these days, but even on hard roads the rear of the shoe is very comfortable. The forefoot is not really that well padded, again in line with minimalism. The material is much tougher than that found on the kinvara. There is a rock plate enclosed as well. On actual trails the traction is great and padding fine. On hard road surfaces the padding isn't quite there if you are going on longer runs on a purely paved trail. 5k-8k or so is fine but I don't know if I would go longer on a hard surface. Again though this is a trail shoe and on grass and dirt or a mix of trail/pavement this is a great shoe. I have run an 8k trail race in it in addition to training with it and the shoe performed very well.
Color is nice as well. I went with the purple, black, yellow and it looks great. Overall a great shoe for trail racing.

Been training in these for a few weeks and finally got to wear them in a 10 mile trail run. Awesome shoes. In years past after this race with other trail shoes my feet were sore for days. My feet never felt so good after a race before. These are lightweight and well ventilated. I have had foot issues in the past (Plantar Fasciitis) and was going through a recovery period from another injury to my arch. I wore these in the race and felt no pain during or after the race. This is my third pair and love them. The sizing advice is correct half size bigger. I was told I was an excessive pronator and had the brooks beast shoes for 10 years, but got into longer distances and trail running and could not stand the weight and build of the beast. I must say when I first set out on these shoes I almost turned around at 2 km due to the muscle pain in my foot. I then switched off old shoes and new and was fine ever since. Have only had the shoe for a few weeks and put 10 miles on a single track trail run. I ordered together with the XR Missions by Salomon to see which fit better. These won by an edge. I have never owned a pair of Asics. I have always gone with Adidas because that's just want I was used to wearing and I'm not a avid traditional runner. I play in more exciting areas than a treadmill or a boring run on the road. I do not do marathons. I run Tough Mudders, and other adventure type races. I wanted a new pair of running shoes that can handle a trail run, mud run, or a day hike/mt bike session. I'm 6'0, 185 and ordered these in a 10.5. They fit well. Feel athletic and fitted with out being lame minimalist ninja wannabe shoes. Great grip and provide good balance, and flexibility while still maintaining it's form and support around my entire foot, not just the heel. Good purchase and decent price for a pair of sneakers I plan to use hard for the next year.

I bought these shoes after owning 2 other pairs of Reebok Zig Pulse II, I love my shoes, they have been the best for everything I do, and I no longer get lower back pain or heel pain. BUT, the Reebok Zig Flow Suede shoes have a flaw, at the toe on the outside there is a reflective triangle shape that has the same shape Lump on the inside of the shoe right next to the pinky toes and after wearing them for a short time my toes felt numb on both feet. I have never had this problem with my other Reebok Zig's. I went to a shoe store and checked them there and only the Suede Reebok Zig flow's had this lump, the others were fine. I would recommend the other styles and have many times, but this is something I can't live with.
They seem to be true to size. I wear an 8 in most shoes and I wear an 8 in these.
I actually have them in two colors...one for street running and one for gravel (the darker pair). My one complaint about running on gravel is that sometimes rocks get stuck in the grooves on the bottom. But, whatever...I can pick them out.
Give these a try. These are the first running shoes in a while that I've jogged in where my legs weren't sore when I was done.

I'm not a runner. I'm more of a jogger...someone who just wants to cross the finish line no matter what it takes. But, I do take my running shoes seriously. My favorite was a Brooks model that I can't find anymore so I've tried some others over the last few years. And....drum roll...these are my new favorites! They are surprisingly light and very comfortable. I have an almost (not quite totally) flat foot and this insole works well for me. I can see where people with a very high arch/instep might not like this shoe. The toe box fits nicely and the heel is not loose like a lot of running shoes.They seem to be true to size. I wear an 8 in most shoes and I wear an 8 in these.

The picture of these shoes is a little misleading. They look white (or very very light gray) it in the picture. If you enlarge it, you can see that they are gray like the item description (but still a light gray). I got these shoes because they were cool. What I found I could do was walk 9 to 10 miles a day in them without fatigue. Cheap The North Face Mens 'Ultra Guide' Trail Running Shoe
I really liked these shoes when I got them. But after 2-3 days started regretting my choice.
The sole is dangerously slippery on wet smooth surfaces. I am not talking about water on marble, but mildly wet surfaces with decent inherent traction like boardwalks. I wore them to the local trail and had to hold on to the railing to stop myself from falling on dew covered board walk.
Also the design shows poor orthopedic adaptability. I have been having intermittent shooting pain on my dorsal foot ever since I started using them. I have never refrained from using any product I purchased. These shoes are the first to deserve the honour.
I have loved north face, having owned their jackets and backpacks including the awesome hyvent alpha jacket. Unbelievable that north face would make such a bad product. Even worse was that my review in their site was not published and the customer support was pathetic.
Pson a positive note, they look descent, durable and have excellent traction on dry ground.
I decided to get a dedicated pair for biking and since that was the use for them I got a rather light pair, these Ultra Guides.
Well, they came mail order and I put them on to break them in a bit and after about an hour of wearing them around the house and in the garage for light work and through the yard I realized these have to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever bought. And for me they work for mountain biking too! I'm considering converting to toe clips on the road bike so I can be comfortable riding that too. I'm not a balls to the wall rider so the clipless pedals are a little overkill for me anyway.
OK, I realize everyone's foot is different, but mine is very average although just a bit small for athletic men at a size 8. But I don't have a high arch or a low one, bunions or any funny looking things. The other thing I can tell you about my foot is that Salomon ski boots (the very high performance ones) fit me right out of the box, no need to mold them to my foot.
OK, another thing. These were the first shoes I've had in about 6 years that weren't hiking shoes and they are less stable than what I was used to. I do make a point to buy very stable hiking shoes. That was kinda weird for the first hour and then I was used to it. Then, maybe the next ten times I put them on, the first few steps were weird but now I'm used to it and all I can say (again) is that these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had of any kind.
OK, so are there any drawbacks to them? Well, one maybe, if you have the same problem I do. My feet are cold most of the time except in summer. That's just me I guess, poor circulation maybe. I'm 60 now and this has been a problem back to when I was 20. Maybe even earlier but who notices anything except girls when they're a teenager. So, when the weather was cool I couldn't wear them when I wasn't doing much, I had to be exercising to keep my feet warm. Now that the lows are in the low 70s no problem for me regardless.
One last thing. I liked these so much, and now that I've had them for a couple of months, I decided to get a second pair now and put them aside so that I can get maybe 4 years or more out of both pairs. I just didn't want to risk them not being available when these wore out.
And speaking of wear, I don't see any yet but then it has not been long since they were bought.

OK, so I have a couple of pair of North Face shoes for hiking, one a bit light for when the hiking is easy and the other more rugged and supportive pair for when the hiking is difficult. I've waited 27 years for a pair of these....I just had bilateral knee replacement, and I wish I'd had them after the first surgery! Easy to get on and off, outstanding ankle support and arch support, and they definitely have the coolness factor and will get you loads of compliments. They're not the original grey, but they work and are extremely comfortable. I offered to get my mom a set after her surgery, and she declined, unfortunately. Two velcro straps are a lot easier to deal with when you're struggling just to stand up, and the support does help you walk. Best Pearl iZUMi Men's X-Alp Drift II Spinning Shoe Deals
These run one size small so be sure to up your size. They are light weight and have great ventilation. They wear like a sport sandal and no sock are required. Very soft inside and nice top (tongue area). I could not run in them for long but easy to walk in.
My platforms pedals have the mini screws for traction, I had taken them off. Because I slide of the pedal at times when I'm off balance with these shoes, I put them back on and now it is a non issue. I can see that these will be nice when I go to clipless pedals as well. Great support up front and back.
I agree with the other reviewer in where they do run small in size. I had to exchange them for one size higher than I normally take. If you MTB for pleasure and intense exercise these are nice. If you are into competition I'm not sure if this model would be enough.

I wear a size 11.5/12 US shoe and fit into these shoes in size 47. I like the quick lacing and hook for the lace end once locked in place. I like the airiness of them and how light they are. I like the heel cushion too. My first clip shoe and I'm pleased. Very comfortable to walk in. I'm currently in platform pedals, plan going on clip in a month or so. I like this shoe a lot. I live in a hot climate, they are cool and comfortable. Can walk on them without an issue. I bought these for all 3 of my boys-ages 4.5, and my 2 year old twins. They do run a tad small, but they are a great lightweight shoe that offers support and my 4.5 year old believes they give him super speed power. They also look so adorable in the tiny size 5 that my twins wear. Durable and well constructed. The only reason I gave it a 4, is that they aren't quite true to size.
