This is my first pair of "bike" shoes. They look exactly as they do in the picture. The sizing for me was spot on. These are very comfortable shoes whether on the bike or walking around off the bike. Once tightened and buckled they are very secure and hold my foot well. It goes without saying these are my first SPD shoes. Clipping in was easy and intuitive. It happened naturally for me on the first and all subsequent tries. This says to me that the placement of the cleat mounting point is spot on. Getting out of the SPD clip is also easy. I bought the Shimano SM-SH56 Cleat Set. Attaching the cleats to the shoes was an easy intuitive task. The shoes work well with the non-cleat side of dual platform pedals as well. I don't notice the cleat sitting on the pedal. The shoes are very lightweight and appear well made. The fit and finish is flawless. I live in the desert southwest and the shoes have good ventilation during these hot summer days.

In short these are very comfortable, well ventilated, supportive shoe that is easy to walk in when off the bike. If they hold up well, I will buy this brand again.

I'm just getting back into mountain biking and these shoes are fantastic. I'm a size 9 normaly so i ordered a half size bigger based on other reviews and they fit perfectly. They are so light weight and well constructed. There is alot of tread on the bottom which makes walking around in those hike a bike situations great. These shoes are very comfortable. They also breathe extremely well. The velcro and buckling system makes putting on and taking off these shoes so easy. The bottom of the shoe is very rigid which helps transfer alot of power into the pedals. If your using clipless pedals i would put your cleat on the first set if mounting holes and push them all the way forward. This will put the ball of your foot right on the pedal which gives you more power on your down stroke. The style is...awesome. I love the way they look, feel and perform. I would recommend to everybody. Also, ordered with free shipping and they arrived within a few days. Can't beat Amazon. I order everything from here. Enjoy!!!

Love this shoe. Stiff enough, great tread, comfortable bed, ratchets. I bought this for all-mountain trail riding, but I could also see it being a good shoe for a casual cyclist.

The trails in my area necessitate a hike-a-bike at least once a ride. If the terrain gets too rough to ride then you don't want to be wearing a dance-shoe type sole. This Pearli shoe is a great alternative. Very grippy sole perfect for climbing rock and scree. So far after about 10 rides/30 hours on the bike they are holding up well. Tread wear has been slightly better than expected given how grippy they are.

The shoe is certainly not as stiff as a pure riding shoe (I was in Specialized Comp before), but to me it is not flexy enough to compromise pedaling efficiency. They are also noticeably heavier, but, again, not so much as to be a bother.

Also, if you're an all-mountain trail rider you probably have a pedal with some type of platform, which helps minimize shoe flex.

In addition, the ratchets work quite well and are well designed so as to be accessed while riding without looking down. The velcro on the lower two straps finish things off nicely.

I wear a size 10 and ordered that (44 euro) and these are a true fit. Perhaps slightly wider in the mid-foot than what I like, but the straps and ratchet help cinch things up.

So far I have only worn these when temps have been below 60F, so cannot attest to how hot they get. But I have been wearing thin riding socks and can feel some air-flow, so I would wager they are acceptable in heat.

My only negative so far has been a slight protrusion of the SPD cleat above the sole level. Its only about a millimeter or so, but it does create that distinctive crunching sound when walking on pavement. Its not all the time, but somewhat frequent. I'm running Shimano cleats, so am not sure if this applies to other cleats.

Overall this is one of my favorite shoes ever.

Had to order a half size larger to get comfortable fit. Reordered in a larger size -like the velco straps for adjustability.

I've had two pairs of these now. They are light and breathe well, which is a must here in NM. The two velcro straps and buckle do a great job of getting a nice snug fit and are easily adjustable. No issues installing SPD cleats, and the lugs on the sole do not get in the way of clicking in. That said, some plaform/SPD combos I had issues with. CrankBros Candy series work well with these. They are good for scrambling over any obstacles you cannot ride over and if you have a catastrophic chain failure on the trail, they offer good comfort when walking back to your car with your bike. They've held up very well running into rocks and cacti.
