So flashback to a few years ago when Vibram 5 Fingers were exploding in popularity. I have knee and ankle issues, but need to run due to my job. I heard all these great things about barefoot style running and how people with similar issues to me were having less pain due to these shoes. Two of my toes were broken in the past and unfortunately I could not wear the Vibrams. It was suggested to me that I try the "new" Nike Free Runs as an alternative. Not only did they mitigate most of my pain, but I found myself wearing them as day to day shoes and absolutely loving them.So I just wore out my 5th pair of Free's and the only complaint I've really had these past few years is how even dew on the grass would soak through the toes. When I saw this version I thought they would be perfect.
I've only had these shoes for a little over a week and can say that while they are more comfortable than other running shoes, they do not feel as great as my previous Free's.
They are slightly heavier/less flexible. The coloring and reflective bits were slightly worn straight out of the box and have been shedding over the last few days. And finally they are slightly smaller than the previous Free's. I wear an 11 and while I feel an 11.5 would be too big in these, the 11's are borderline too small. 11's in the previous Frees fit perfect.
The water resistance is excellent, and I'm relearning how to run with these since the tread is slightly stiffer. I would not buy these again, and will be moving back to the standard Free's the next go around.
