This is a very nice looking shoe. I am very happy with this purchase. I bought these shoes strictly for indoor cycling. I have been spinning on and off for almost a decade and I finally decided to buy a cycling shoe. Be advised, this shoe feels more like a running shoe and does not have a hard sole. However, it is extremely comfortable and very effective as an indoor cycling shoe. It does not come with cleats so you have to get them separately. I use mine with Shimano SPD cleats.

I just started getting into road cycling about a month ago and decided to buy cycling specific shoes. I had been riding with my Saucony running shoes but from the literature I've read, getting road cycling-specific shoes would significantly improve my riding performance. I've had a lot of luck with Pearl Izumi products so decided to try those first.

I ended up purchasing this pair which doesn't have the truly rigid soles that most cycling shoes have. It is much more a hybrid cycling/running shoe which is what I was after as I plan on competing in some duathlons and don't want to necessarily change shoes at the transition points. The sole is still more rigid than my running-specific shoes but is still flexible enough for running in. I'm happy to report that during my 20-25 mile daily rides, I could tell that these shoes made a difference. I did feel that more of my power was going into the pedal rather than being wasted through the flexing of the shoe. My rides are definitely more comfortable. The shoes also have the option to be used with spikes which I haven't tried yet. I also took these on a two mile run to check them out and found that they're fine for running but I would probably stick to my Sauconys for running (I've been running in Saucony for 20 years and probably won't stop now so there's probably bias on my part). If you're in decent shape and don't have an overuse injury like shin splints or plantar fascitis, you will be fine. If you do have an overuse injury, these shoes would not be comfortable enough.

I've also had the opportunity to use these while riding in the rain (a pretty good steady downpour, not a drizzling) and miraculously, my feet actually stayed pretty dry. The shoe is vented pretty well (all of the white parts of the shoe are actually mesh) so my feet aren't sweltering either. The shoes did soak up the rain pretty good though. It took more than a day to dry them in front of the vents and the shoes were twice as heavy after soaking up some rain. (And yes, I just bought some rain shoe covers today on Amazon :)

I wear a 9.5 US size shoe and these size 42s fit perfectly. I did also buy a pair of traditional, rigid sole cycling shoes but those haven't arrived yet so I'm not able to make a comparison to which I prefer at this time.

Tried multiple bike shoes that hurt across the front of my foot before I found these. Pearl fuel shoes feel like gym shoestotally comfortable. Also fit my wide foot.

Honest reviews on Pearl iZUMi Women's Fuel Cycling Shoe

I have owned 6 different pairs of cycling shoes over the past 20 years. These are the most walkable by far. They may not be as stiff as regular cycling shoes, but they work let's be honest 95% of us who cycle are never going to race. The only drawaback is that they run a little small. I have a narrow foot and these are tight, and I ordered the size I wear with other shoes and found my toes are right at the end of the shoe. You may want to order up 1/2 size.

I searched high and low and read so many reviews looking for a pair of cycling shoes I thought would work for me. I have a little bit wider foot, so I know I didn't want the hard narrow usual cycling shoes that make your feet so hot. I decided to give these a try. I also got a pair for my husband from the men's line. We both found them comfortable and breathable. They are stiff on the bottom so they give the structure and stability for cycling. We had our local bike shop put the cleats in for us and off we went. They are working well for us. I haven't noticed a great improvement in being able to ride further based on having these shoes, but I have noticed that I am now "forced" to keep my foot in proper alignment for cycling. I have noticed that my foot will fall a little asleep after riding 25 or so miles, but I can click them out of the pedal and stretch and then it's fine. We also bought pedals that have the cleats on one side and are standard on the other side for when we don't want to wear our cycling shoes. So far, all of this is working well for us. We ride up to 50 miles at a time.
