The Sense Mantra is no minimalist shoe, definitely not an NB MT 110. Nor is it as heavy and clunky as the Salomon Crossmax, XT Wings 2, or the Speedcross. The Sense Mantra is great summer/ shoulder season shoe that will offer protection for trail distance training and racing if you like some more cushion under your feet than the Salomon Sense or other minimal offerings. I normally wear a 14 in Salomon as I find their shoes fit small. In other brands such as NB and Asics I am a 13. The 13 in this shoe is a great fit. I will be buying another pair when these are toast.

This is my second set of Solomon. My last set last about 8 months... which is about 3 times as long as any other pair of running shoes I have ever bought. So the slightly high upfront purchase is ultimately cheaper due to the durability of Solomon shoes. This is my first pair of Mantra Trail Running Shoes and so far I love them! They fit perfect, don't rub anywhere, are very light, hopefully as durable as my other Solomon shoes, and I love the small fall from heel to toe. I would recommend these to anyone. (As long as they are not heel strikers when they run. In which case they may not care for the flat heel.)Best Deals on Salomon Men's Sense Mantra Trail Running Shoe
I ordered these shoes about 3 days before a 50 mile race and they held up incredibly well, the support and comfort was beyond expectations.Honest reviews on Salomon Men's Sense Mantra Trail Running Shoe
I have been running in Salomon shoes for well over ten years and have always been happy with them. These are probably my most comfortable Salomon shoes yet. Just be advised that they run big. I ordered a half size down. Also, because of the lower heel, it took me a couple of weeks to get used to running in them. I like them so much I find myself throwing them on just to go to the store.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Salomon Men's Sense Mantra Trail Running Shoe
Out of the box, slipped them on and took them for a 12km ride on a very rocky and steep trail. Couldn't be happier.I would say Salomon have found a sweet spot: low drop but not too low, stable and comfortable but fast and light, sticky grip but (for what I've heard) durable... We'll see.
However, people used to shoes with pronation control or high drops would maybe need something heavier. I would say this is in fact the sense ultra for non-professional mid-foot strike training day runners.
