First of all, there are numerous comments about the construction. The main design flaw is that the mesh upper is sewed onto the rubber sole but the seam is actually under the shoe, so you step on the material of the upper part with every step. This has numerous holes at this point. They aren't severe, and again, they are only visible on the bottom of the shoe where that seam is. I can't see these lasting a year. Maybe 6 months if I'm lucky.
Another aspect of that design flaw is that the upper material soaks up water like crazy. If you step in one puddle, it's all over. Makes it tricky on rainy days. And again, since it is on the bottom of the shoe, you don't have to step in a puddle. Just damp ground for a block or two and your toes will be soaked at the very least. Longer and your whole foot will be.
That being said, for dry sunny days, these are great. I went on a few 7 mile runs in these, and have been really satisfied with them. Due to their light weight, they barely feel there. They do cut down on your foot's sensitivity vs barefoot by about 80% or so so it's not the same as barefoot running. I have noticed that my movement changes with barefoot vs these shoes.

I wanted something to pad around the back yard in, mow the lawn, short walks here and there. But these were not breathable. My feet were always wet inside.
