Shoes are a subjective thing--clearly many women like the Merrells and I had worn the brand very successfully long in the past. That said, I'm not wild about the Siren Sports but I don't dislike them enough to return them. I do dislike them enough not to bring them on the adventure travel trip I bought them for. First off, as other reviewers said, they run a good half size small. In my 57 years, this is the first pair of size 8 shoes I've ever purchased. I'm a solid 7.5 but trying these in another color in a store taught me that Merrell considers me an 8, and even so I can't wear a heavy hiking sock--though medium weight are okay.
The color I had to have was only available from a seller in Scandinavia, so I ordered them. Amazon said they'd take a month to arrive, seller correctly said sooner. They are still pretty stiff, even after a week or so of nearly full time wear, and the high cuffs rub my ankles a little. They could use more padding and flexibility. I like the idea of the fully attached tongue (it's webbed into the shoe on the sides, as opposed to being attached only at the base) so that it doesn't work its way side to side while you are hiking. However, the web on one side folded down and was poking the top of my foot for a while; with adjustment I was able to stop that from happening.
I can say that the shoe is pretty cute. Even the size 8s don't look big, and the way the laces appear to corset the foot is fetching. My foot borders on wide, and these are *just* wide enough. The laces are a little stingy in length and come undone a lot.
I just don't find these shoes very friendly or much fun. My feet are tolerating them, but that's all I can say. Concern that the Merrells wouldn't arrive in time to break in for the trip led me to purchase a pair of Keen Alamosa hiking shoes at a sporting good store, and right out of the box the love affair started b/w my feet and the Keens. Supportive and firm but flexible, perfect room in toebox, longer laces that actually stay tied, welcome arch support. They are coming with me on the trip. The Merrells I'll wear to the grocery store.Muy bueno el producto y el vendedor lo recomiendo al 100 por ciento no me arrepiento de la compra gracias.
