My kids have flat, wide feet and I was having to order them special wide-sized shoes. After switching to minimal running shoes (Altra) myself, I wanted the same for my kids. Not only can they put these on and take them off by themselves, but they LOVE wearing them. Whatever cheap shoes I was putting them in before must have been really uncomfortable! :(

The toe box is wide and open so their feet aren't squished in the shoes. The shoes are fairly resilient as they dry and bend easily. The lining did come out fairly early, though.

Also, I think these shoes (maybe all minimal shoes) tend to run small. I ordered at LEAST a half size up and they're working well. I think a whole size would be fine especially with how quickly kids' feet grow!

Flexible sole for my little runner no problems walking in them like some other shoes were sole is like a brick the half size fit perfect in between sizes and stores didn't carry half sizes for toddlers love this shoe

These are the best toddler shoes I have purchased. They are very light with a low sole height. These shoes are easy to put on and take off. He also loves them. He takes off all of his other shoes and socks within 10 minutes but doesn't bother with these. Thinking it was age related, we even tried going back to some of the other shoes with the same results. I think he forgets these are even on his feet. I ordered these in wide due his tall feet and they fit perfectly. The fact that these were some of the only wide, Velcro strapped, athletic shoes with a low sole height, available made the initial purchase choice easy. The results are going to be hard to beat.

they are very light which was great since my 18 month old recently started walking all over the place. the only thing i noticed is if his feet were wider, they'd be impossible to get on!
