My wife has had back problems for many years now. A chiropractor recommended a New Balance model that she loved and wore for years until they discontinued the model. For the last couple of years she has tried other models that all proved disappointing. This year I helped her get scientific about it and we started with the cheapest in the basic style she liked (high arch, thick sole, and well supported heel), then we returned the shoes if she did not like them and we bought the next expensive model. When we came to the W1260, we found a winner and she has been happy for months with them. We will definitely go directly to this model the next time she needs shoes.

Not a bad running shoe. i always stick with new balance. they do fit small, you may have to go up half a size or go wider. otherwise they are a comfortable runner

Brand new straight from the box this am. and was able to do just shy of seven miles, with no problems whatsoever. I previously owned the New Balance WR870 stability running shoe, which gave me excellent results. I was worried that I would not be able to find a shoe equal to them, as the WR870 is no longer available. This shoe is equal to them. They have the stability which I need because I take my speed walking/jogging outdoors. The comfort is great, has a nice cushioned bed. The mesh is also great on this shoe. I live in Florida where the heat index gets to over 100 degree's and these shoes will keep my feet cool and dry. The only thing about them is the weight of the shoe, they do feel kind of clunky for about the first mile. Once I get my rhythm going, I find it not to be a problem. I have had a previous injury, and I know this shoe will not let me down. They also have a lighter weight shoe in this model that I almost bought. I think if I was doing my running on a tread mill I would have gone with the lighter one, but for outdoors this is the shoe for me. Now the costI have to look at it this way, you get what you pay for. I know this shoes preformance is not going to let me down. I highly recommend it! My last shoes lasted about three and a half months, then I could feel them starting to break down some. I average about 45 miles a week. I am interested in how long other peoples shoes last and how often they replace them. Follow Up:-I did not think it was possible, but I love this shoe more than my previous shoe. I have to agree with the other reviewer, these shoes have given me better posture. I also find myself running my route with confidence, no knee or shin pain.( Did not mean to become a runner either.) Could be the cooler weather also. This is one great shoe!

I wear an 81/2D and prefer New Balance for their wide toe box and heel. I am just getting back into running (10-12 miles a week) I read mixed reviews, but this is one of the few styles I can wear that I don't have shin pain, heel pain and doesn't require me to spend another $40 for special inserts. Well worth every penny.

Most comfortable running shoe I have ever worn. It is very lightweight, but it has great arch support and wonderful cushioning for the bones of old feet. There is also plenty of room to wiggle one's toes.
