Review of Salomon Women's RX Prime Cross-Country Shoe

I stumbled across these shoes after purchasing another model of Salomon shoes. I had been looking for trail runners because I was tired of nearly falling on my ass every time we went hiking, and had tried several pair of Brooks and Salomons. In the end, the Salomons fit the best and gave great support. So I decided to swap out my daily wear Nikes (I'm an athletic trainer in an orthopedic clinic with lots of long hours on my feet) and try and find a pair of Salomons with a more clinic-friendly sole. These were my choice because they were reviewed as being very comfortable and lightweight, and after 4 straight pair of Nike Frees, I like lightweight.

In the end, I'm sort of mixed on these. The first con is very superficial they are kinda ugly. The second con is that they run pretty big. I usually wear a 6 in shoes; I buy a 6.5 in Nikes to allow for being on my feet all day. I ordered a 6.5 in these, and they are huge. I probably should have ordered a 5.5. However, I got them on mega-sale and the 6.5 was as small as they had, so I rolled with it and figured I could return them.

The pros they are very light. They are also well-cushioned and comfortable. I normally wear heel cups in all my shoes due to a heel spur on my right foot. On my test run with these I did not use the heel cups and they were fine; very comfortable. They are also quite roomy width-wise in the toe box, which is nice. They did well for a 6-hour day on my feet, although from looking at the soles I can't imaging they would be real great for running. There is also the quick-lace, one of my favorite things about Salomon no more laces coming untied!

To be honest, I would probably return them due to them being too big...but of course, on my test run of wearing them for a half-day at work, I got plaster on them so now I can't. D'oh. If they were available in a 5.5 I would exchange them. But definitely recommended as a comfortable casual shoe.

After exhausting my old pair of fila shoes of many years they are ripping from the sole. I am on my feet literally ALL day. I work at a gas station, and it is crucial for me to be able to stand for 8+ hours straight. And if you're in the same boat as me-these shoes stand up to the test (pun intended). It took my feet a couple days to get used to, but now I can say wearing these are like walking on air! Super light-weight, awesome color/style (sleek and athletic). Hands down my new go-to for ALL my on-the-goes! 100% satisfaction regardless of the duty I had to pay to get them here to me in Canada.
