I usually love Asics running shoes but this one doesn't feel as nice as all the others I've gotten. They were a little "rough around the edges" when I first put them on. Not at all like all my other Asics that fit like a glove out of the box. Maybe it's just this particular model...just won't order it anymore. I can tell these are going to take a while to wear in so I'll keep them as backups for now.ASICS Women's Gel-Strike 3 Running Shoe Reviews

I bought these a month before my first marathon. I attempted to break them in on short run days for about two weeks (4-6 mile days, using my old shoes for distance runs) before taking them on my 20 mile run. The first distance run I had in them, the shoes felt very stiff. Moreso, it felt like there was no support in them like I was walking on the pavement. I chalked this experience up as taking them "too far too soon," and kept with them. After another week of running only in these shoes (instead of trading back and forth between my old shoes for long runs, and these shoes for short runs), they became my new favorite pair of shoes. There was a very noticeable difference after breaking them in: they feel light, they offer great support (I run outside often on busy streets, lots of hills, winding roads, so support is very important), and they're resilient. Let me expand on resilient: I've run in them since April 2011 (currently August) and they aren't showing obvious signs of wear and aren't tearing up my feet as less supportive shoes would. Also, during the marathon, one of the roads had new asphalt that melted to the bottom of my shoes. I was able to get the hot asphalt off without damage.
