I am a fan of asics since I purchased the previous version of the trail sensor. My old trail sensor 2 was replaced by the trail sensor 5 last week. I ran a few miles for a few days. They feel a little stiff comparing to the previous version. I ran my 5K today and could tell the difference between the old and the new. I do not feel that there was an improvement in the gel support. It feels stiff when I impact the gravel and the smooth surface. My legs feel tired earlier than usual. The only improvement I have seen in this shoe is the lacing system, the weight of the shoe is lighter, and finally a women shoe that is not pink or too girly or light color.

I found these shoes to not feel nearly padded as I read. They do have good traction on a trail but are they overly slippery on roads and concrete if even slightly wet. I have never had sneakers so slippery that I had to be careful just walking a few steps. Would not buy another pair but unfortunately will have to get my wear out of this pair to get my money's worth.

The first time I wore these shoes, I had a huge blister on the top of my foot due to stiching. I sent the shoes back and ordered another pair. The shipper was excellent both times and returns were easy. The second pair of shoes did not have the stiching issue but were extremely uncomfortable. My feet hurt just wearing them walking normal speed. I sent that pair back too with no problems and went with a different shoe altogether.

I ordered these shoes when I returned to running this year; I hadn't run in many years prior to this. These shoes give my feet so much support without being too restrictive. I would say these suit a person with narrow feet. I love these shoes.

I really liked the immediately previous version of this shoe, ASICS Gel-Trail Sensor 4. The rugged, sturdy bottom was perfect for the 30+ miles of urban commuting walking I do over concrete, metal and asphalt terrain every week.

However, the 5 version has a lighter, 2-ply foam and cloth mesh upper -just in the toe bed section -that my big toes wore through after about 4 months. Whatever material the mesh was made of in the previous version was stronger. Now I have no support for the top of my foot -my big toes poke up through the mesh with every step, and in consequence the balls of my big toes hurt quite a bit. I can't wear them anymore because walking in them is now painful. I didn't realize before how important top shoe support is for cushioned and comfortable walking.

I am disappointed because now I have to find a different rugged walking shoe. If ASICS 6 returns to the mesh material of ASICS 4 I would try the model again.
