This is my son's third pair of Merrell Barefoot shoes. He's five now. He has 1 major pair of shoes that he wears for everything, and then a few pairs of shoes that he will wear on rare occasions. He previously wore the Merrell kid's Trail Gloves, and loved them. We taught him to tie his shoes so that he could move up to the new kid's Flux Glove. He now wears theses shoes for everything.
I'm really curious about the Merrell naming of kid's shoes. The kid's Trail Glove had more of a road glove sole. The Flux Glove is more of Merrell's road shoe, but the kid's Flux glove features the adult Trail Glove tread. Whatever. My son loves running trails with me, and was anxiously waiting for some more tread-y shoes.
Why do I love these shoes for him?
Flexible: They move with his foot, he can roll them in a ball. 0-drop, and thin. While they look like adult trail gloves, I think they are missing the rock plate and seem a bit thinner/more flexible than the kids trail gloves. This may be in part due to the lack of the wider base in the kid's Trail glove, which I never thought was needed.
Functional: They look great with jeans, and serve him well at sports and play. He runs trails, goes to school, plays soccer, wades creeks, climbs trees, goes to church, stomps puddles in these shoes. They are game for whatever he is.
Durable: My son outgrows these shoes, but destroys others.
Only non-issue: laces. Be sure you note that this shoe has laces. The kid's Trail Glove is Velcro.

My kid loves them, and they fit his feet well. But after barely two months, they are starting to get a hole and wearing out. We live in Hawaii, so sneakers are barely worn. He maybe only wears these 1-2 times a week. A little disappointed, since I spent $60 on a pair of shoes, I thought would last for a while.

I finally bit the bullet and bought my 3 year old these (expensive!) shoes and I am so glad I did! I had been looking everywhere for non-bulky, flexible, thin (but still tough) soled shoes for toddlers and had no luck until I found these. This is an excellent minimalist shoe for very young kids. She is very comfortable in these shoes and can put them on by herself. She can climb, run, jump, etc. very easily as these shoes do not impede her movement at all. I am confident her feet are developing properly using these shoes (and having plenty of barefoot time as well). We have had the shoes about 6 months now and they have held up beautifully. She wears them almost every day. I'll be buying another pair as soon as she grows out of this one.

i usually wear a size 4 in big kids and i was planning on ordering a size 4 until i read the reviews. I highly recommend measuring your feet and comparing it to their sizing chart. it is very accurate. i ordered a size 3.5 thinking that is should do. i recieved my shoes in the mail today and when i tried them on with no socks there was definately quit a bit of wiggle room but with a sock it fit fine. either way im not bothered by the way they fit but do regret not going with the size 3 instead.

I'm a minimalist runner and triathlete. I've been very selective regarding the footwear my son wears. As he his feet grow, the selection of minimalist shoes grows thinner and thinner. Unlike many brands of shoes out there the Merrell flux glove is true to the minimalist name. The sole appears to be zero drop (not a raised heel) and is very flexible (you can easily fold it in either direction. Also importantly the sole is equally flexible along the length of the shoe so it doesn't have a tendency to kink and pinch his feet. Teh rest of the shoe is very light and flexible as well. Another great feature are the material of the laces, which are in between being able to get knots untied easily and not randomly coming undone all the time. Though I recommend having your kids double knot. I feel this shoe will be a staple for my son in the coming years.
