It appears to be a very nice shoe, however, it was bought as a gift and it was
too narrow for the person it was intended.I have been buying, and running on, New Balance Shoes (990,991,992,993,996 one 1100, I think those were the numbers, but you get the idea) more than 25 years. I bought a pair of the M2000 last year, advertised on Amazon, and this shoe (The M2001) looks like the next generation of junk made in CHINA!!! Shame on me for not reading more carefully regarding the shoe make and the materials the shoe is made with. The advertisement didn't say the shoe was 'Made in the USA', but it didn't say it was made in china either! But shame on New Balance for not putting all the information in the ad, AND for manufacturing and selling, as New Balance shoes, junk 'made in china'. The pair I bought (The M2000) are hot (made with synthetic materials), uncomfortable, the 'tongue' is shorter than other models, so it doesn't lay-in flat on the top of your foot, the sole is junk, the insole (I thought was ENCAP with 'heel counters)is junk, already compressing (and I'm only 6ft. 158#-not heavy), and I only ran on them ONE time for 11 miles, and only walked in them less than 20 miles. Th M2000 I bought were a waste of money. I will continue to buy the 993, or others I like, that are 'Made in the USA', but I wouldn't buy another pair of junk like this ever again! Even if you're a beginner don't buy these shoes, shop around at 'The Running Warehouse' or a Running Center that will 'fit' you to your shoes, and pay the extra money and get a good quality shoe 'Made in the USA'. Your feet, legs, knees and hips are worth it! New Balance makes good quality shoes that are made in the USA. All the N.B. advertisements I've read (carefully) state the shoe is 'Made in the USA" when they're 'Made in the USA'.
