I'm on my second pair of Masochists and while they are fine for everyday trail running, I was just reminded why I don't like them for ultra distance runs. If you are looking for a shoe with good support, these don't hack it for the long haul. Otherwise, they drain exceptionally well, are light (but not minimalist by any means), and the soles seem to last a while. I may seriously see about an orthotic to add a bit of support, as these are otherwise a bargin-priced winner of a shoe. But for a shoe being advertised as offering stability for overpronators...meh...not so much.Best Montrail Men's Mountain Masochist Trail Running Shoe Deals

If you are looking for a nice stiff trail shoe that can take a beating on most unprepared trails, I would recommend the Mt Masochist. Rock plate gives plenty of foot protection on rocks and roots, especially in the later stages of ultra distances. Shoe performs well on muddy, wet conditions and drains quickly. If you are used to a soft flexible road shoe, expect to take a little extra time breaking these in. Happy Trail Running!
