These boots are terrific winter boots with a couple of flaws, albeit minor ones. First of all I must say that these boots are extremely well crafted with quality materials while still being fashionable and the insulation is superior. These boots do a great job of keeping your feet dry and warm in wet and cold weather and the soles provide great traction even in snow and ice. The concerns that I have with these boots are small, but I feel like they are worth mentioning. First, the soles, while they do provide great traction, are VERY thick and thus VERY stiff. I have been wearing mine for a couple of weeks and they don't seem to be getting any more flexible. While I am walking in them it feels like my feet aren't bending very much which isn't uncomfortable yet is somewhat awkward. Secondly, as you can see from the pictures, the toe of the boot is noticeably curved upwards. This coupled with the stiffness of the sole makes walking feel almost like "rolling", if that makes any sense. You don't so much bend at the toe while you walk as much as you just "roll" from your heel to your already bent upward toe. Again, this isn't necessarily uncomfortable but it is certainly different than most shoes you are probably wearing on a daily basis. Perhaps that is just the way winter boots are, I don't know. I wear Red Wing work boots and they feel totally different. Much more flexible in the sole with no such curve at the toe.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for quality boots that are functional ( keep you dry and warm) and fashionable to boot! Also, the price can NOT be beat! My local sporting goods store sells these same boots for $139 + tax as does Columbia's own website. I paid roughly $85 + NO tax! All in all, a great buy.

Took them on my trip to Siberia in March 2013 and tested them during -40 degrees. I was highly impressed! I wore just a one pair of regular sock, i tried a thin sock and a little bit heavier, i think i like a little heavier better since it does not make the foot sweat as much (kinda of a different result to what i expected since thicker sock should be warmer, it probably more absorbent).
At -40 degrees (both C and F) boots act great during action walking, running or whatever...when you stand around a little though you will start feeling your toes get cold and possibly numb if prolonged...but as soon as you start walking or sun hits these boots, they heat up very fast very interesting thing. I guess that Omni-heat does indeed work.
I also love that they are water resistant, basically i went through some slushy, water mix in these before my cold temps and they were great! The best feature is that these look amazing with pants over them, they do not look like bit azz boots, they look stylish. And finally these are LIGHT! super easy to walk, do not get your feet tired.
I would recommend and buy another if i needed to. Investment was well worth it. That was my personal experience so keep that in mind where you gonna be using these and what your tolerance to cold is and such, but out of all reviewed to find an overall decent boot i think these were the winners!
