The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is the extra room Patagonia leaves for layering. I prefer tighter support for across the balls of my feet. That aside, there must be some kind of orthopedic support built into the sole as there was an immediate sense of relief for the plantar fascitius symptoms I have been experiencing. Less than a week after receiving and wearing these shoes my ability to walk with less or no pain has noticeably improved.

I only buy one pair of shoes at a time and wait until they wear out. I was looking through Facebook photos and saw these shoes in pictures dating more than 2 years ago. And they still look just like the picture (got the orange trim, you know what's up).

Been through about 90% of trails in the rocky mountains and are now:

Not as water resistant as i remember

Tread has another 2 years in it.

Not one seam is bursting or frayed except one of the loop/tabs on the back is a little.

I'm considering getting new inserts for them but the originals aren't too bad yet.

My next shoe, if i ever need one, will be a patagonia w/ vibram.

I purchased this shoe for walking and hiking and am not disappointed. I purchased a half size larger than what I normally wear since I had experienced tightness with other shoes used for walking that were my normal size, and that was a wise decision. The sole is a bit stiff but for me that has been a good choice. These probably wouldn't be a good choice as a running shoe because of the stiff sole. The construction is exceptionally sturdy and that becomes apparent when wearing the shoe. I don't do a lot of long distance hiking but do take 5 to 10 mile walks and this shoe has worked well for that.

I normally wear a size 15, And these that good without socks. Just slightly too small.

Love the look and design. Patagonia's normally fit large so I thought they might fit but they were slightly too small.

Fit and comfort is exceptional! This is my second pair of Drifters and I love this hiker. From gravel to rocks to woodlands this shoe maintains comfort all day. Even trekking over rocky terrain feels good with the stiffness of the sole and yet lightweight. The combination of outstanding arch support and toe box room prevents toes from jamming the front of the shoe even on steep declines. Couple these with a pair of Smart Wool socks and you'll be hiking miles with happy feet!
