Wow! That's my word for these fabulously comfortable sandals. Like being barefoot, but better!. I am on my feet at home for about 15 hours a day and was beginning to have pain in my right foot---sometimes my heel bone, or side or front pad. It would have me wrapping it and limping around. Well, I was always either going barefoot or wearing my LL Bean regular 'flip-flops'.I read that flipflops are bad for your feet. On a hunch, I ordered these sandals and have been pain-free ever since. These sandals are incredible. Simply incredible. I am a 'barefoot girl' and hate wearing shoes at all, so I get proper support for my feet but don't have to wear real shoes! YAY!!! They are worth every penny.

I had the awesome experience of running a marathon a few years back with Scott Jurek, the ultrarunning legend, as the pacer of the group. I'd already read "Born to Run" (which didn't phase me)and had a pretty high mileage marathon ramp up so having such a neat (and extremely nice) ultrarunner to chit chat with for 26.2 miles put me over the edge and made me want to try out trail ultras. Only...I didn't know any trail ultrarunners. I did have a bit of experience ordering running shoes online so I picked a pair that looked like what I needed and that weren't to pricey. A month and a half later, in my Masochists, I ran my first 50 mile on a course that was extremely technical in spots, with straight up hikes and thigh high water crossings. Though I may not have been as prepared as I thought I was, I finished in a great time and with blister-free feet. This was though I didn't even change socks, much less shoes, during the race. The area of my arch just behind the ball of my feet was extremely sore, though, which I thought was the shoes' fault.

So, ramping up for my next race, a 100 miler no less, I bought a pair of Salomons that were more supportive. I took them out on a 30 mile training run and vowed to never wear them again. I realized then that the Masochists excel in draining water. The Salomons I was wearing retained so much water, it was unreal. So I bought another pair of Masochists and ran my 100. My feet were still extremely sore but again, I think it was more of my relative lack of preparation.

A year later...I tried the Brooks Cascadia 6 since it was being closed out. While extremely cushy, the toebox (when ordering my normal size) was too narrow and I ended up losing a toenail after my first run in them. Back to the Masochists as I ran my 2nd 100. I'd also put much more mileage in this time, and afterward I did not have near the soreness in my feet I'd had at previous ultras. I WOULD caution though, if you are a mid to forefoot striker (as I am), you may really start to feel the pounding toward the late miles of a 100 mile race. But at that point, everything hurts anyway, so your feet are just one more addition to a chorus of pain, lol.

But I have simply not found anything better. To sum it up:very fast draining, cushy but flexable (while still providing stability for overpronators). They also have a very grippy outsole that's worked well for me in rocks and mud. I have 3 pairs but only race in one of them right now. I've got about 400 miles of trail ultras on them and once washed off, they look and feel brand new.

I just got these: every other pair of shoes I own is size 7.5 and these came 7.5 and feel very small: too narrow and too confining across my great toe and the top of my feet.

Going back.

they look well built but think about a size up!

Honest reviews on Montrail Men's Mountain Masochist Trail Running Shoe

This is my fourth pair of Montrail shoes and I cannot see any reason why I would switch brands. I have tried three different models and have been more than satisfied with each, however, the Mountain Masochists are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are stable, have a roomy toe area, and have never caused me the least bit of discomfort while running or even climbing Pikes Peak.

New Balance Men's MX20v3 Minimus Cross-Training Shoe Review

I bought this shoe for use in the gym and running. The size ran true for thin socks or no socks that the shoe is designed for, and the 4mm drop supports my foot just enough for cardio work.

The shoe is extremely breathable, all of the mesh is thin enough to see through both sides.

My only complaint is with the no-sew assembly. When I received my pair the inside was very tacky/sticky, and some of the material on the outside of the shoe was peeling off and needed to be pressed back together.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I have used traditional running shoes (Brooks Glycerin) for some time for both weight resistance and cardio training and decided to try a more minimal shoe with a lower heel drop and am pleased.

Sizing: Many reviews on this model and the earlier versions all recommended to order a 1/2 size larger. In Nike running shoes I normally wear a 12 and are borderline small (finding 12 1/2 in Nike's can be a challenge). The Brooks Glycerin running shoe a 12 was perfect with a 12 1/2 slightly too large. I ordered the 12 1/2 in the New Balance MX20v3 and it fits perfect. I have no prior experience with New Balance to compare.

Fit and Comfort: You barely notice this shoe when wearing it due to both it's light weight and conforming fit. The shoe easily snugs around your foot when laced and provides good lateral support. The sole and insert provide some cushioning while still allowing you to feel the surface. I do not plan to use these shoes for running, only weight lifting. Traction on the sole is good and had no issues with various leg training movements (lunges, leg press, squats etc). The fabric covering around the foot is breathable to help keep your feet dry.

Quality: The pair I received had no visible flaws and the shoe seems well made. As this is a very light weight shoe time will tell how long they hold up relative to the price.

Summary: I would recommend this shoe if you are considering a light weight or minimal type shoe. It looks more normal than some of the 5 toe style minimalist shoes.

Best Deals on New Balance Men's MX20v3 Minimus Cross-Training Shoe

I rated 4 stars as I think this is a great shoe, but I'd like to have a little little more traction. On surfaces such as basketball courts, laminate, or smooth finish concrete, I feel this shoe lacks a little grip. It seems like the tread pattern is alright, but that the compound or surface finish of the compound isn't as sticky as I might like. The shoe is very light and airy, and I think it has enough support for the movements I intend to do with it. It provides more lateral movement stability and control than fivefigers, which I was using before this shoe. The shoe seems to fit fairly true to size, and laces up snugly on my foot. I'm only a few workouts in, but it seems like the construction will hold up well to indoor use.

Like: Weight, stability (for what the shoe is), minimal heel to toe drop, openness and breathability, looks, balance.

Dislike: I might like additional grip from the tread.

recommend for: crossfit, indoor gym work

Update:

I've put a ~3 months of weightlifting-centric crossfit on these shoes now. They've held up well. As an additional dislike, I'd say that I feel the inward angle of and extra room/material on the toe is a bit extreme. I'm not sure if I could claim that the shoe slows my sprints, but I don't think the sole outline is quite right for running, at least for my form. The top-down view of the shoe doesn't suggest the extreme angling, but the bottom-up view (showing the sole of the shoe) does. I wouldn't remove another star, but I would revise my purchase, having this experience.

Update 2:

After 9 months, I'd say the traction is only a concern on surfaces which would be slick for any shoe; it's not an issue on tractioned rubber (e.g. diamond plate patterned), astroturf, asphalt, or textured concrete (e.g. outside, or sidewalk). A stickier compound may still be an improvement. I still see the sole profile as a bit odd, though it's a 4-star shoe. I use this shoe in a hot, dry, often dusty environment.

Started doing crossfit a few months back. Did not feel like spending $150 on Oly Lifting shoes and another $70 on sneakers. In the Minimus the heal is much more stable than in my vibram's, they are super light. Work great for rope climbs, oly lifting, hill sprints and my double unders have improved a whole lot since I got these.

Highly recommend.

Shoes look great and will serve their purpose as simply casual fashion sneakers. As expected, don't buy for any kind of athletic purposes as they have limited support and small thin narrow treads. If like me and you want a good looking fashion sneaker, this will be perfect.

I love Inov-8 shoes. They are a great company and right now I will not buy another brand. I have had these shoes for a couple of months now and run about 15-20 miles a week in them. They are holding up great and are extremely light. I also have a pair of F-Lite 195 and I love them also. I just finished hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro and used these shoes for the entire hike. I didn't get a single blister, cut, or anything else.

This is my second pair. The first pair was an earlier version that I actually preferred because it seems that the sole was a little thicker. I do alot of rocky trail running and I can feel the rocks more with these new ones. Other than that I'm very pleased. They are very secure, I've never rolled my ankle in either pair. I have a pair of Cascadias that I no longer wear on trails because of the ankle rolling problems with them. The earlier Roclites lasted about 300 miles before I got some tears in the uppers near the toes.

Best Deals on Inov-8 Roclite 295 Trail Running Shoe

I have used these a few times since getting them. I would use them more, but they are strictly trail shoes and I bounce back and forth between road and trail. I have used them for an 8 miler that was muddy and snowy/icy and they gave great traction, were super comfortable and very light weight. They are definitely less of a shoe, and that is what I was looking for. I was debating between these and the New Balance 101's but went with these. I was hesitant because when I saw these in the store I thought the bottom was pretty soft and would wear out fast. But now that I have them, I don't doubt they will last for a while. I would highly recommend trying these if you are on the fence about it, my feet thank me.

Honest reviews on Inov-8 Roclite 295 Trail Running Shoe

When New Balance stopped making the MT 101, I searched high and low for a replacement. After trying several alternatives, I tried the Roclite 295 and knew I was home! A bit more distance from the ground, which is nice when it's cold. Glove-like fit. Good looking. Killer traction. Unbelievably comfortable. The only challenge is finding your correct size, when you can't find them in a store. I ended up having to move to larger sizes before I felt I had the optimal space at the front to handle steep downhills. Can't say enough good things about a well-fitting Roclite 295, though!

This is my secret weapon to defeat my running buddy, who has finished ahead of me in past 13 marathons. Number 14 will be different !!!

I was very pleased with my purchase after 4 or 5 practise runs. I find them delightful to run in, and have noticed benefits on trails already with those "rocks" no longer hurting the bottom of my feet. A nice large toebox, and a light feel (I have run in Asics 21x0 shoes for 5+ years).

Shoe sizing for me, was the same as my Asics.

After my big run this weekend, I may consider wearing these as field hockey shoes. Comfortable, lightweight, well protected AND nice ribbing on the sole for grip. Makes me think they are my new cross trainer (trail running and field hockey) shoes.

Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I became a loyal customer of New Balance about 6 years ago and am HAPPY to wear them anywhere. I bought the 1520's (size 13, normally 12) at the New Balance Store just before a trip to Seneca Rocks WV about 5 months ago. I couldn't wait to get there and try them out. I have put 10-15 miles a month on these shoes since the purchase.

They are waterproof right up to the point you get ankle deep in water. Great for around town or campus street puddle type water, creek or stream crossing... NOT! The whole getting in a bath tub and staying dry is a LIE!

I found these very comfortable to walk in, no break in time required. No foot pain from walking over rocks, roots, or other trail dangers. Grip on the rocks at Seneca was most impressive. Scrambling across the Summit at Seneca, trailing Dolly Sods, and Monongahela National Forest was confident and rewarding.

I have wet them down, scrapped them on rocks, and scuffed the tread. They are still in great condition with no tears, no seam failures or glue issues, Gore-tex still works, netting on shoe only has one small snag on tongue, and the tread is still optimal. However, I do not wear them in the city, only on the trail. I really like the extra traction and protection on the instep part of the shoes, great addition.

The only thing I would change is the lacing system. Not a big fan of the cloth loops New Balance uses, the lacing system is the only reason I ever replace a pair of New Balance shoes. Loops fail well before the shoe ever gets close to end of service. I suggest they would re-think this design.

Over all I am happy with my purchase.

Pros

-great hiking or ultra-light backpacking shoe

-heavier and more solid than pure trail-running shoes; good stability and durability, held up well on back country trip

-GREAT traction on scrambling class 2 or 3 rock

-waterproof

Cons

-this Last seems to run smaller and narrower than typical NB Lasts: I am a 9.5-EE in all NB running or cross-training shoes, and fit a 10-EEEE in these

-would benefit from a antimicrobial footbed or lining; gets pretty smelly after 4 days backcountry

Best Deals on New Balance Men's MO1520 Multi Sport Shoe

I am a New Balance believer. They fit me great. I will say that I am generally between 8 and 8.5 and these 8.5 shoes fit snug. The eeee size is more like a ee. I read this on other sites so I made sure and chose the larger size. The shoes are great looking and wonderful for hiking and just walking the street. Built really well and have a firm sole for great stability. They are built great and great looking shoes. I would definitely recommend.

Honest reviews on New Balance Men's MO1520 Multi Sport Shoe

I love New Balance. I have a 4E foot and finding a good fit is near impossible. I got these and the fit was perfect as expected. They were immediately comfortable. No break in required. Took them all over Joshua Tree National Park. I never had to look twice at my feet, no bother, no slip, no pain. Good cushion at the heal. Nice and aggressive sole for traction. Joshua is all rocks and more rocks. My only question is, should I buy a second pair now or chance that they will be out of stock?

Revision

It is now August and I see some problems with the shoe's design. There is a lot of exposed stitching over the toe area. It is starting to fray. Other shoes have this area free of stitching for that purpose. The toe area is likely to receive the most wear and NB designers need to re-evaluate this approach.

Another problem is the shoe string. I wish they would use a mechanical tighten device. I finds that the string is often coming undone. This is a hazard when climbing/hiking over rocks and uneven trails.

Otherwise, it is by far the most comfortable shoe I have to date.

Shoe is fabulous in concept but so undersized and over-narrow as to be almost unwearable unless one goes up a size and a width minimum.

My feet supinate (roll out) when running, causing plantar fasciitis and shin splints from time to time. In doing research, Saucony Cohesion 6 running shoes were one type recommended for supinators...and so far, so good!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Love these. Was searching for the Grid Cohesion 5s that I usually buy every 2 months (replace your shoes after 300 miles!) ... and found these upgrades. Per my podiatrist, the shoe is structurally identical to the Grid Cohesion 5, as explained by Saucony; they just dropped the "Grid" and updated the colors, hence the "6". I train for half and full marathon trail races in these with a bulging L5 and high arched feet -no complaints. My feet are well cushioned ... and I haven't had shin splints since my podiatrist turned me on to them 3 years ago. Just wish they lasted a smidge longer.

Best Deals on Saucony Women's Cohesion 6 Running Shoe

Not only are these shoes stylish, but they are the reason that I can run today :-)! My attitude towards running has always been "If I'm running, you had better run too because there's a bear chasing me!" Because I'm heavy and running hurts everywhere! Well, now I have lost 30 lbs and actually want to run to step up my game. Pardon the pun.

I have not been successful until now in finding a running shoe that relieves my shin splints, ankle and knee pain all at once! They fit perfectly and are nice and airy and light. I loved them the way they were the moment I first wore them, but when I paired them with brand new sport socks, I was tickled pink. An even greater improvement was replacing the soles with my doctor prescribed orthotics. I now can see a lot of jogging/running in my future.

Honest reviews on Saucony Women's Cohesion 6 Running Shoe

The Cohesion 6 is missing the bouncy cushion in the heel that the Cohesion 5 had. If you remove the removable sole, the Cohesion 5 has a round raised pad with wedges and the sole is 2 pieces glued together. The Cohesion 6 is one piece of seemingly different material which is no where near as cushiony as the Cohesion 5, leaving the shoe feeling less supportive, less comfortable and less cushiony. Looking at the Saucony website, the weight of the 6 is 1.3 oz. less than the 5, so something is different in the new shoe, maybe a thinner insole.

I wish Saucony would not REMOVE cushion and comfort from the shoes. Bring back the cushiony insole, Saucony!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Saucony Women's Cohesion 6 Running Shoe

I'm a huge fan of Saucony and will continue with their running shoes; however, not these. Needs A LOT more cushion! Runners take a beating so I'm not sure why every Saucony shoe doesn't have a lot of cushion, especially in the forefoot area.
