Just a warning--this color combination (listed as grey/blue, but has black in it too) is very "girly" when you see it in person. My 4 year old son loves bright blues so we picked this one out for him and, I will admit, DID NOT click on the many different "views" of the shoe or do any close ups of it. When it arrived we discovered glittery silver thread in the yellow strip that holds the laces together, and on the trim. Also the grey mesh on the back is very glittery. To top it off, the NB logo on the tongue of the shoe has a flowery design.

Luckily Amazon has such an amazing return system that we just picked a new color combo, printed the return labels and we are set, but I just wanted to warn everyone to look closely at the color combinations if you are looking at these for a boy! Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that they have a color combo like this for girls--lots of girls don't want pink or purple and this is a great change, but a bit disconcerting when you think you are getting a shoe for a boy!

(as for the 5 stars--we love NB shoes for our son, he has wide feet, wears orthotics and his New Balance shoes always hold up to anything he puts them through. We are actually only ordering these so he can have nice looking new shoes for the school year, his old pairs still fit great, they are just starting to look a little worse for wear.)

My first grader has PE for the first time this year, and needed some athletic shoes. She also has joined a lunchtime running club, so we knew we needed to get her some real shoes to meet her needs. I showed her lots of options and she definitely liked the colors and design of this pair the best. The fit was true to size and she learned how to tie her shoes pretty quickly on them, so she can retie them when needed. Just know that these require actual lacing skills the picture of the item makes it seem like they may be pre-tied and elasticized for a slip-on fit. She wore them all day at her school's walk-a-thon last weekend and got a gold medal. Highly recommend these shoes and feel they were worth the price.

I bought a pair of these sneakers for my 10 y.o. son. I bought a size bigger because he is growing very fast and he end up losing many pair of shoes quickly. They are really nice and comfortable. I am a pretty long term trail runner. I have run from 5 mile races to 50 milers and I have been searching for a neutral and zero drop shoe with some decent bottom foot projection for a long time. I run in minimalists because of an ankle injury, not because it is faddish, and it has been frustrating having to feel every single rock in the only shoes that kept me from rolling my ankle. These shoes do just that the allow for a natural stride on my permanently injured ankle without sacrificing traction and bottom foot protection. They also have a wide toe box that better allows for toe swelling on longer races.

I have trouble finding appropriate running wear, since I have low arches and constant foot/knee pain. These shoes have seriously helped me on my road to recovery. They fit incredibly well I generally wear 11.5M, and these fit the bill (NB Minimus Running Shoe in 12E was still too short/lacked support for me). My only complaint is regarding the toe box though wider than normal, I sometimes get slight toe cramping from my mid-strike running.

These are not my first pair of Inov-8's and I keep coming back because they perform. I've ran these on sandstone, sand, lave rock and some asphalt and the surefootedness is outstanding. Even without a rock plate in the sole, those occasional bad foot placements are hardly an issue. My only complaint and it would be minimal is I'd like to toe box to be just a tad wider to allow my toes to flay a little more. The uppers allow my feet to breath well and stay cool in the hot desert climate. All in all an outstanding zero drop trail running shoe. Quality construction as with previous Inov-8 shoes.

Purchased these shoes for my "soon-to-be" college freshman daughter. She absolutely loves them and has received many compliments on this pair of shoes. So far, she has done a couple of 50 minute "jogs" in these shoes and also done a couple of Zumba classes. She reports that they are very comfortable. Her athletic trainer is also in love with these shoes (Teal/Grey color). I purchased 2 pair of these shoes, one in the Teal/Grey and one in the Pink/Black. In our opinion, the Teal/Grey is the most attractive of the two, however, we will be keeping both pairs as we got them on sale (Goldbox Deal). My daughter normally wears a size 8 womens shoe, normal width and does not have any support issues. The 6.5 normal width fit her perfectly. Another thing, although they are labeled "Big Kids" shoe, IMO they would be appropriate for older teens/young adults as well.

My husband and I are each HUGE New Balance fans but this is the first time we've splurged and bought some for our kids. My son LOVES these shoes. He says they make him really fast at PE, which is, obviously, very important for first graders. I think they are such a hit because, while they are a sturdy and supportive athletic shoe, they are amazingly light. He hates wearing shoes all day, usually the first thing he does when he gets home is strip off his sweaty socks and shoes. But lately I've been catching him wearing these shoes around the house for hours after he comes home. They are so comfortable, and cool, for his naturally sweaty feet that he forgets he's wearing them. The colors are fun, toowe chose the blue/black with yellow laces.

I should also note that he has wide feet and the wide sizes are a life-saver for us. They are truly wide, in the right places around the arch and ball of the foot, not like some shoe makers just make them wide all over. I'll be ordering up some in the next few sizes up so we can have these on hand when he grows next.

These are not for heavy duty play and will not last long. I like the look, feel and construction, but could use some additional rubber for protection under foot. The shoes did not dry like I believed they would, but work great in water and on hot rocks. The option for sharp or jagged surfaces was a painful experience, but no cuts to report and the foot was protected. I also think more colors should be available since the sun felt like it was concentrated on the tops of these black Vibrams and my feet were cooking on the top. I like this style of shoe and know there's plenty of room for growth and improvement. I will look for the upgraded version to release and give them a try!

I have actively practiced Baghua zhang, Wing Chun and Tai Chi for the past 10 years. Before that I practiced japanese jujitsu for six years. Baghua and Wing Chun require a lot of turning and rotating on the heel and ball of the foot, and sometimes the center. It is also incredibly important to feel the ground. Ankle and tendon strength come from leaving the foot as naturally close to the human design as possible, meaning that most modern running shoes are actually hurting people's feet by creating too much unnatural support and structure around the foot.

During formal Wing Chun classes, we train on hardwood so I go barefoot. However, all of my advanced training is outdoors and that's where foot protection is required. My Sifu (teacher) has been pushing me to buy Inov-8s for over a year. He raved about them. He said my running shoes were destroying my footwork and stability. I had a motorcycle accident last year which crushed my left ankle, and the deep tread on my New Balance running shoes were making things worse during martial arts training. So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed a pair off of Amazon.

These INOV-8 shoes have entirely changed my approach to training. I can comfortably do a full two hours of warm ups, baghua palm changes and circle walking, wing chun forms and fast-paced turning drills and footwork, then finish it off with tai chi for a cooldown. Because they weigh virtually nothing, I don't think about them. Instead, since I can feel the ground really well in the 3mm sole, and the traditional over-zealous running shoe support is no longer impeding my sensitivity, I can focus on correct balance and posture. The soles are thin enough to feel the ground (though if you need a thicker sole for your training for some reason, I think there's a 6mm model), yet thick enough to protect my feet on rough wood, tile, pavement and cement.

Where these shoes won't work well is on indoor hardwood. The sole is targeting the running community, so it is very sticky. The tread is light, which is a plus, but make no doubt that these things offer traction for your feet. But for martial arts application with a lot of twisting and rotation, this can actually have the opposite effect on ankles and knees. If INOV-8 could make a martial arts shoe with a sole that took into account a lot of twisting and rotation (heel and ball), which most martial arts involve, and slightly reduced the stickiness, indoor application would be much improved (but I realize these shoes weren't originally designed with this application in mind, they are a runner's shoe).

Anyway, I'm thinking of buying several pair and stocking up on them. My teacher has gone through 2 pairs in 2 years, so they tend to last as well. And on the plus side the sole will break in and wear down a bit so they are more comfortable on hardwood indoors if that is your training preference as a martial artist.

I started wearing these on a daily basis so the shoes and feet would "break in" to each other. Now I wont wear anything else. Not only are they a great gym shoe, almost as good as being barefoot, but also a great everyday shoe. Too many shoes today have way too much padding and can weaken your feet. So wearing these at first maybe some what painful but once you are used to "bare foot" shoes you wont go back. Plus they're stylish.

I love this shoe. I have worn Vibram's to run in for about 2 years now, and I wanted a casual shoe that would be minimalist as well. This shoe fit the bill. I love how it fits to my foot. If you have wider feet, I wouldn't purchase this shoe though, it is fairly narrow. If you like the minimalist idea, then this is the shoe for you. I feel the ground(in a good way) better in these shoes than I do in my Vibram's. Super Comfortable!

Size runs according to normal shoe size. I wear 11 in vans and nikes and got 11s in these as well. I thought they were too big at first but that was only because the toe box is larger than what im accustomed to. After using them a few times they feel great and fit perfect! Great for all crossfit activites; super sticky to the floor, and double unders and box jumps didnt cause any pain either. Great shoe!!!

Very fine overall build, smooth inside, I don't feel any out of place pressure points or seems, cups heal nicely, adequate tongue length. Not an "ultra light", that is my size 13 is about 12,5oz per shoe, vs, say 9oz for lightest Adidas I have, but, significantly more cushioning under foot (if you want that, not everybody does these days, i.e. this is less of a "minimalist" feeling shoe) Would point out that size runs just a bit towards smaller, but has nicely nonpinching toe if you are between sizes go to the half size larger, I did and definitely glad so. Also concure with many other comments that particularly fits a relatively narrow foot (nice for me) and such fit is generally hard to find, particularly in the heel.
