These are just a decent shoe to bring with you to the gym for being around the pool area or shower but don't expect to be able to go on long walks in these shoes or wear for an extended period of time. I don't know about anybody else, but these shoes tend to make my feet sweat when I wear them for anything but a barrier to protect my feet from the shower or pool area.

These shoes dramatically improved my shin splint pain. Their a little tight bc they run about a half a size small. But really comfortable. They're also really cute and are made of an interesting plastic-like material on the outer part that isn't mesh. But totally breathable. I absolutely love these shoes and will buy more in different colors. I'm kind of a shoe whore. LOL. They are expensive but if you want a quality shoes these are worth the price.

Finally!!! Ecco has redeemed themselves from the last 4-5 crappy pair of BIOM shoes I have bought. These shoes are solid, light, breathable, very well constructed, no frayed threads, and comfortable!!! I'm impressed and very pleased. They have excellent lateral stability and will cross over to other "sports" besides running well they won't compete with cleats, but for cross training application they are great! Keeping. These are by far the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. They provide superior stability, the mesh upper keeps my feet cool, and the gel absorbs shock like no other running shoe. The fit is perfect even though I have a bit of a wide foot. Oh, and I never even realized how heavy my old Adidas were until I started wearing these, which are so light on my feet. First time buying this brand and quite pleased with purchase. The fit was right size (ie did not have to buy 1/2 or 1 size bigger than my normal shoe size). With socks the fit was just right. The sneakers are very light and provide good support for both heel and forefoot, the latter being important for me given I have a toe nerve problem...and they look good. Pleased with purchase. Did not give 5 star as I have not done a full week working out in them yet so want to reserve full rating until such time.

These shoes felt TERRIBLE!! I tried to wear them around my office a little bit, but after 45 minutes, they went right back in the box that they were shipped and were set back. They felt like $30 cheap shoes. I could feel the edge of a fairly flat rug under the ball of my foot while just standing still. And the hell was so square that you had not choice but to large exactly square, if it that's an unnatural way to step. The cushionis was horrible, if not non-existant. The stability was overpowering. And the back of the heel hit in the wrong spot. I would not call these "GEL" anything!! I am very disappointed in Asics. I was under the impression that they manufactured quality products. Way over priced for "cheapies".

My son was so excited to get a pair of New Balance with the "z" type strap. He loved them so much, that despite the fact that he could barely get them on, he tried to talk me into letting him keep them. I was very disappointed that the measuring and sizing chart provided by amazon did not work for us. According to the chart he was a size 6, so I ordered him a size 7 so they would fit for a few months before his next growth spurt. When they came, he was just barely able to get his whole foot in. He's really not old enough for the styles, but sadly I have had to go up to men's sizes, because apparently his feet are just too big for even "big kids" shoes.

Despite the problems, I gave these a 4 because they really are very fun looking and well made. I just can't tell you how sad I was to have to return them.

I bought these to replace a pair of Wave Elixir 6's that were a year old. I liked the other ones, but I like these even better. The fit is just right for me. I have had them for a week and I just ran a half marathon in them with no problems. My old ones were the bright blue/green which were pretty ugly, these look much better!

Note that just because these shoes fit me well does not mean they fit everyone well. Before buying any running shoes, you should go to a running store that can check out your gait and pick the right type of shoe for you. Then try on a bunch of different ones until you find the one that meets your needs. Every foot is different, there is no single shoe for everyone!

New Balance Men's MT1010 Minimus Trail Running Shoe Review

I'm transitioning to minimalist running and these shoes meet the next requirement in my development. For the last year and a half I've been running in Brook Cascadias (size 11.5). About 6 months ago I started running in the Newton trail shoe (size 11), and continue rotating with the Cascadias. During this time I've been working on the forefoot and mid-foot strike stride. I felt I was getting it down pretty good and then I went on my first run with the 1010's (size 11.5).

I was a loud clopping plodder in the Cascadias and Newtons. Now I'm running much quieter with the 1010's.

The shoes are light. I'm starting to experience the unfettered feel of barefoot running I didn't get with the heavier Cascadias and Newtons. At the same time I'm feeling weakness in my stride as I stroke through and lift my foot from the ground. Before I had the rebound from the heel cushion on the Cascadias and from the forefoot lugs on the Newtons to help propel me forward. That's gone and forward propulsion is all me now. It will take awhile to build up the required strength in my calves and quads for this style of running. I'll continue rotating the three pairs of shoes.

The 1010's provide enough protection from rocks and stabbing sticks that I don't feel vulnerable. That's not to say that occasionally a "chingoncito" (a naughty pebble for you non Caballo Blanco fans) doesn't nip me. I have to be present in the run and be aware of where I am putting my feet. I had one rock nip me behind the big toe and it felt like when I hit my funny bone but in the toe. I've also had my feet flex in ways (sometimes not comfortable ways)as I cross large stones that never occured when I was wearing the beefier running shoes. I am also more aware of the texture of the trail. You can feel the sand giving way as you run, or feel the baked clay push back. I've had no problem with sand working it's way through the side fabric of the shoes. I do run with socks.

I like the feel of the size 11's but felt the lugs in the tread didn't line up right with the pressure points on the bottom of my feet. The size 11.5 lugs seemed to line up better. I think I lost a little downhill control by going with the bigger shoe.

The shoes look a little funny due to the front toe box rubber wrapping around the top of the shoe off center. This makes the shoe look pointy (think elf shoes) with the illusion of the toe box curving to the inside. It's due to this that I subtracted a star. So far I like the shoes but my runs have been limited to 4 miles.

12 week update:

I continue to rotate the MT1010 with three other running shoes throughout the week as I run. The longest distance I have run at one time with the 1010's is 7 miles. I would say I have between 50 and 60 miles in the shoes. They are a joy to wear on trail runs and the wear is minimal. So far no sign of the fabric ripping.

80 Mile Reveiw:

These shoes have been in the closet through the winter and I just started running trails again. After a 9 mile day the fabric around the big toe ripped out, so I'm seeing the same 80 mile limit that everyone else is seeing. The shoes are very comfortable. These are my favorite shoes for running. They just don't last more than 80 miles.

I was excited when I saw these shoes coming out. I've been in the army for 5 years now and, for someone with wide feet, it's difficult to find a fun running shoe. This looked to be that and stylish as well. It used to be the rule that running shoes never ran wide and the only ones that did were the stiff ulta-supportive sneakers (if you have wide feet, you know what I'm talking about). Nowthis is the second pair of Minimus shoes I've owned. I've got a pair of the MT00s but I needed something with a bit more support and the MT00s have issues of their own but I was impressed enough to buy them.

The shoes are light-weight and enjoyable to run in. They also look pretty darn sharp. They are noticeably more supportive than the MT00s and seemed like a good transition shoe to minimal running.

Unfortunately, I'm sorely disappointed with the durability of the shoe. After owning these for less than two months with an average of only 10-15 miles a week (ie. I ONLY wear them when I'm running) and all on paved trails, the fabric is pulling apart right around the head of my fifth metatarsal. It's not a tear its looks like the fabric could not handle the stress and started to separate. They still look brand-new but the quality of the fabric seems poor. If you have wide feet like me, I'd recommend saving some cash and looking somewhere else.

The overall concept of this shoe is great. Very lightweight and flexible with a rock plate in the forefoot so rocks and roots don't hurt as bad. The execution is a complete failure. The mesh which makes up the upper failed on both the left and right shoe after less than 50 miles and 4 runs. The mesh separated and ripped right along the seam for the big tow protector on each shoe so now the shoes are reverse flip flops, not a good design for a long trial run. Wait for next years improvements before you spend money on these.

I have owned many running shoes in the past and one of my friends who is an ultra runner recommended that I purchase these shoes. After running in them today for 21 miles (and a series of several smaller runs such as 14 miles and below), I am convinced that these shoes are by far the best i've owned.

Cons: These shoes are meant to run in fair conditions which makes them light and air passes through them. If you should find yourself, like I did today, running in a snow storm on top of a mountain, be aware that you will definitely feel the cold. Luckily, I was wearing compression socks (still didn't help).

I recommend these shoes to anyone who plans on running trail runs, marathons, and ultra's.

I'm currently set to run in these shoes next weekend for the Mountain Marathon. Depending on how I do, well dictate whether I write an update to this review.

I had read the reviews that others gave about the velcro popping open, but since my daughter absolutely loved this color, we went with it. Also, being an engineer, I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. (We're weird that way). The shoes fit very nicely, but after a bit of walking at the zoo pop! the velcro came loose. She fixed her shoe, walked for another half hour and pop!, it came loose again. Now it was my turn to try. As I put the velcro together, I could tell there was plenty of velcro, but the strap end that the velcro is attached to,is pretty stiff, and doesn't allow the velcro much contact area. So instead of getting over an inch of velcro "latch", you only get about a quarter of an inch. Not much if the kids are moving around.I compared to my son's older New Balance 688's and the strap end on that shoe is much more flexible. We never had a problem with his shoes popping open. Would I buy them again? Jury is still out. If I can work on the strap end to make it a bit more flexible, then I would consider it.

I love the construction of the shoe, as it creates a comfortable feeling that can be felt throughout the shoe. Most shoes have either a comfortable sole or insert, but the Onitsuka is truly an all-round great shoe. I started running seriously a little over 20 years ago, and when I came upon Saucony Shadow 6000, I never looked back at any other shoe. I LOVE these and have probably gone through at least a dozen pairs! I have run several triathlons in them, a couple half-marathons, tons of 10K's, and have hiked in them as well! When they get too old to use anymore for running, I use them when I work out in the yard. Bottom line: a very stable platform with good heel cushioning, comfortable upper, and just a fantastic shoe! I happen to really like the way they look, but they are so white when they come out of the box, I like them best after they get a little wear on them and don't stand out so much. After a while they take on a more grey or off-white look. I hope they NEVER quit making this shoe. They threatened to a few years ago, but the customers cried out and they changed their minds.

First I was pretty skeptical about this or any other new-fad shoe design but was looking for something (anything) to try other than the standard shoes I have been running in for years.

Quick background I starting running for fitness and the challenge about 3 years ago, namely distances of 5 miles plus. It started as way to lose the excess 35 lbs I had gained over some years and then became about the mental challenge of pursuing a goal to run a full marathon. Long story short, I lost all the weight, got in shape and ran my first full marathon (first race / organized run ever actually) 3 years ago. I quickly learned that my right knee is plagued by ITBS Inter-Tibial Band Syndrome. It basically (for me) causes the tendon running from your hip to your knee to swell and then inhibits the knee's bending while causing extreme pain over distance or continuous impact running...as confirmed last year with my 2nd Marathon where my knee "locked" up at mile 18...that last 8 miles with a knee brace and hobbling was almost enough to end my running right there.

I don't concede easily and after buying all of the high-end top name shoes, treadmill video gait checks, correcting my stride, fixing my form, trying the "barefoot" five-fingers for awhile trail running (natural) and wearing a knee brace after a 16 mile run my knee just quits on me. From core-strengthening, to yoga to hip-flexor strengthening exercises too with cross-training, nothing helped at all.

I saw an ad for these some time ago and knew a couple of people who had them, but never really gave it another thought. 2 weeks out from this year's Marathon, I decided to give them a go...what do I have to lose. Ordered the Zig Energy (trust me confusing, I know...the different type are generally just different materials...some for toning, some for running, etc; the soles all appear to be the same) and literally only put 30 mins on a treadmill for a quick hot-spot / fit check and another 6 miles outside when I ran out of run time that day. That was it for "break-in".

So, the final test: I did what I know better and tried something new on Race Day & ran my 3rd Full Marathon in Italy 2 weeks ago in them, untested (fully). It was cold and raining all day while I racked up the miles waiting for the 16 mile mark and imminent knee failure. 17 miles. 18 miles....no knee pain at ALL. Picked up the pace 21, 22...these shoes are AMAZING! Ran my fastest Marathon time ever (03:44 a PR for me at least!) on wet, cobblestone roads for 26.2 miles absolutely pain free for my first distance run ever. I am sold, no kidding, no BS. Works as advertised.

A few notes: The fit is right...I have a Wide Foot, but generally would wear an 8.5E (XW)...they didn't have it so I opted for the 9D (US size) and it fit perfectly. I worried about foot swell over distance (causing pain and blisters in the "toe-box" in narrow shoes), but while it did get snug, I didn't get a single blister or hot spot (seamless upper too helped I'm sure). I DID however due to foot lengthening / impact get 3 black toenails (impact blood blisters under the nail itself they are lost after awhile). I have experienced this in boots and many other shoes as well...distance running just can cause this without a perfectly matched shoes tried and tested. I wore some high-end socks that I trained in for running and had no pain overall.

For Runners: Your foot-strike...this is designed to be a heel-strike shoe, FYI. I had to re-learn how to "improperly" run again after months of training otherwise (mid-fore foot). I kept my stride and gait about the same, but forced heel first impact unless I was passing other runners with some speed. It's it the design and again regardless it works. The only thing for me I significantly changed over 3 years, and it really works.

I have already ordered others for friends and passed the word to everyone I know. I want to find some for my kids too for Xmas...as trendy as they may seem, you can customize them completely in any color mix and even put your name on them (through Reebok for extra $$). I will be ordering a less flashy pair (black) for work as the black and bright yellow stands out a bit too much post marathon attire.

I am a dedicated customer and when a company makes something true to its claims and serves me well, I spread business by word of mouth (it goes both ways though!).

Buy them you won't regret it. Read the other reviews I did and had them proven correct.

With a recent history of plantar fasciitis and having it surgically repaired these shoes are awesome. I had a surgical repair for my condition three years ago and was still buying new shoes every 6-months. The verdict is still out on when my next shoe purchase will be. I am now working out in these shoes and have taken three all day trips to Disneyland. After the those trips my wife complains that her feet are hurting her, I laugh because mine feel great. Buy these shoes and replace the in-soles with after market thicker in-soles you will not regret it.

Best Deals on Reebok Men's Zig Energy Running Shoe

I have worn the shoes a few times as yet and done a few road runs + walks. They are really good and I like them, or more so, I love it :)

The following are my observations...

Size I have wide feet (bordering on "E"). Therefore as recommended by others, I bought ½ size larger. It is a true to fit.

Comfort Very very comfortable, smooth insides and hence has no "first wear" problems. Well cushioned and the arch support is good too. This is probably my best investment in sports shoes.

these were purchased for hubby, he says they are the most comfortable shoes he has ever worn!!!! Each time he has worn them, someone else notices and comments. Reebok has been around for a LONG time and all of our purchases with this brand have been quite satisfactory...

Best running shoes i've had in a while. They bring total comfort to my lower body in motion. I've now purchased a pair for basketball/tennis. Love them as well!!
