These minimalist shoes are comfortable, and allow the feet/ankles their natural range-of-motion.

For the last seven months, I have been wearing them for almost all of my running and walking. I ran 10.4 miles in them yesterday.

I purchased these at a running store, after form analysis, over a handful of other options that were also recommended. For background, I fall more into the casual runner category. Prior to switching to the Cortana 2's, i was running between 15-25 miles per week in minimalist shoes (vibrams and new balance minimus zeros). I started training for my first marathon in January and as the weekly miles ramped up, I developed shin splints. In other words, the miles increased quicker than my feet and legs could adapt in minimalist shoes.

So I headed to the local running specialty store in search of a more forgiving shoe, that hopefully wouldn't impede my form or feel like boats strapped to my feet. I am a midfoot striker, and not comfortable in bulky and heavy running shoes with a huge heel and (heel to toe) drop. I also over-pronate a bit (landing slightly on the outside of my foot), but since I strike more mid to fore foot, I didn't think I needed a heavy stabilization shoe. After testing a number of shoes on the treadmill, most with minimal to no drop, some neutral, and some with slight correction to over pronation, my 2 favorites were clear. I liked these Cortana 2's and the Brooks Pure Flow 2s the best. It was really a toss-up since both felt comfortable, had a nice cushion to the forefoot, and were fairly light for this type of shoe. I chose the Cortana 2's because they last longer, aka for more miles before needing to replace them. On the flip side, they cost more, but I still opted to give them a try.

I got home, went for a run, and loved them instantly. I still had shin splint pain in my right leg, left over from the minimalist attire, but over a few days it actually improved, despite continuing to run, using the Cortana 2's! The shin splints have not returned. Running in these shoes is great, and I can't see myself switching back to the vibrams anytime soon. They fit my foot well, have great cushioning to absorb impact, decent spring, and the mesh top is breathable, light, and just fitting enough while still allowing movement in the toe box.

Fast forward 2.5 months and 300 miles later, and I still couldn't be happier! I actually just came on Amazon to check their price here because I'll be in the market for my second pair in another month or two. I saw it only had one review, an unfairly negative one at that, and decided to share my experience. In summary, I think they are a great shoe, particularly if you are looking for something with not much drop (only 4mm), but good cushion, fairly lightweight, and a slight post for mild over-pronators. That was me, and I'm happy as a clam!

I love the Kinvara but couldn't run long in them, anything over 20k and the lightness of the shoes caused tiredness and some pain, then I bought the Cortana, it's the Kinvara designed for long runs....can't ask for more than that

Now I have my 10k and racing shoes and my long run shoes....sorted

Best Deals on Saucony Men's Cortana 2 Running Shoe

I've run about 750 miles on several pairs of these shoes and won't run with anything else (qualified for Boston wearing these shoes)! If you are looking for a zero incline shoe designed for the forefoot striking runner (like the Saucony Kinvara) with great cushioning, this is the right shoe. I tried the Kinvara, but found that I need greater cushioning at longer distances (when I get tired and my form worsens) after I started to get hip pain. Once I switched to these shoes the hip pain went away.

Honest reviews on Saucony Men's Cortana 2 Running Shoe

I have been running in Saucony's Kinvara 3 running shoes for three years now (on my 2nd pair). I got the Cortanas for the same low heel-toe offset (4mm)as the Kinvara 3, but the extra cushioning for longer runs (6+ miles). These shoe's felt wider, and that I had more roll in the forefoot causing less stability. The tongue also had more padding causing pressure on the top of my foot when I laced up tight. Overall not a bad shoe, just not what I'm used to running in. I returned and ordered a pair of Kinvara 4s, hopefully as good as the 3!

I haven't had a chance to run in these new shoes yet, but the last 3 pair I've owned have all been perfect. They are a great training shoe that holds up to the task.

The shipping was super fast and I opted for super saver shipping. I was worried the shoes would be too bright but they were nice and pastel like. The problem is they were too narrow even openning the laces. Also I ordered a size 8 my normal size and even with a very thin sock they were too tight. Even with all those problems I thought they would be the most comfortable shoe (like on a cloud) they were not. I returned them very easily and was refunded promptly. Ive ordered other things from Amazon with ease. Clothing and shoes seem hard to order online in general atleast for me.

First, I have to say that these shoes fit like a dream and look so very good on your feet. Yes, they look a little strange in pictures and in real life, but they look so great on! Many Reebok shoes have been getting too narrow, but these are just right. Now for the bad part... I have only had these one month and the inside back of the heels are totally worn through. At this price, I expected the shoes to last a lot longer. To be fair, I walk 3 to 4 miles a day so I didn't think they would last 6 months. I just think that one month's wear is not enough. So, if you are a casual walker and want a great fit, these will work. If you want to do a lot of walking or running, these are great for that but won't last long.

Great shoes, they fit just as I expected they would and weigh a lot less then my other pairs. They're awesome

Best Deals on Vibram FiveFingers Mens SeeYa LS Athletic Shoes

I purchased my first pair of VFF's about three years ago when I read how they help eliminate plantar faciitis (mine went away after a couple months of wearing them). The KSO's fit my feet great, and I wore them only exclusively for two years before they were too messed up to wear anymore. The problem I had with those is that the stitching came apart rather easily, and how they lasted two years...I don't know. Once they were out of commission, though I ordered my KSO's online on a whim and they fit perfectly, I decided to go to a shoe store to try on other models. Bikila, Spyridon, velcro, laced; none fit! I couldn't even get my feet in the opening. I tried bigger sizes, but they left too much room in the toes. I thought I'd never be able to wear VFF's again. I ended up buying a pair of New Balance Zeroes, which I had to buy in a size larger, because like VFF, they don't make wide sizes. $110 for shoes that fell apart with minimal usage.

I like to check the VFF every now and then to see what new shoes they have out and if they've decided to make wider sizes. That's when I came across the SeeYa's with a traditional lacing system. I figured I would be able to pull the laces out enough to get my fat feet in them (I'm an average sized guy with hobbitt feet), so I figured I would take a gamble and just order them. Luckily for me they fit. Are they still a little snug? Yes, but not enough to make them uncomfortable. I also like the SeeYa's a lot more than my KSO's. They're more comfortable inside, and the construction seems quite solid. I do everything in them, and they haven't shown the slightest sign of coming apart, unlike my old KSO's.

If you are someone with wide(r) feet, I would definitely recommend these. If Vibram isn't going to make wide sizes, they might as well make all their shoes with traditional lacing. However, if you are someone with extremely wide feet, you're probably still out of luck.

I found these locally on sale and with a 20 percent off coupon I was out the door for $28. Not too bad, as I didn't buy them to use as a running shoe, but more of a knock-around, fishing, wear with jeans, walking shoe. Out of the box they fit very well, but they're not in the comfort league of good running shoes, so I replaced the insoles with some Profoot Miracles, which I really like, and now the comfort is noticeably better. Not sure about the durability, especially for running. The red part on the back of the heel area is painted on, and that's scraping off already. The label says the uppers are leather and man-made materials, but I can't identify any of it as leather. But the style looks decent to me, good cushioning, and no problems, so good deal for the price.

I boutht these New Balance for my daughter and she puts them on all the time, she likes that she can put them on fast because there is no laces to tie, and the style is super girly.

My son was so excited to get a pair of New Balance with the "z" type strap. He loved them so much, that despite the fact that he could barely get them on, he tried to talk me into letting him keep them. I was very disappointed that the measuring and sizing chart provided by amazon did not work for us. According to the chart he was a size 6, so I ordered him a size 7 so they would fit for a few months before his next growth spurt. When they came, he was just barely able to get his whole foot in. He's really not old enough for the styles, but sadly I have had to go up to men's sizes, because apparently his feet are just too big for even "big kids" shoes.

Despite the problems, I gave these a 4 because they really are very fun looking and well made. I just can't tell you how sad I was to have to return them.

These are at the top of my list...and I would definitely reccommend them to others.

This pair of sneakers are great for walking on a paved surface and also for long driving. Not a recommended pair of footwear on a rainy day though, and I tried using it for a cardio workout the sole is thin, not enough cushioning. Otherwise, it's a retro-cool looking fashion footwear.

This will be my second pair. Purchased these as drum shoes, they also make a great driving shoe. Super light, more like a sprinter's track flat. Great surface to foot transmission, soles are somewhat flat and they don't track much dirt. I know I'll purchase another pair just for driving.

Great Shoe. But anyone want to wear these shoes as your sneakers or long walking shoes, should order one size larger. I usually wear size 8 to 8.5. These shoes I ordered are size 9 but more like a tight-fitted size 8(both in length and width). Hope this would help you.

-Very comfortable

-Well made no construction or durability issues after 6 months

-Great support I mostly use them for casual wear, but have also used them to run and bike

-CHEAP seriously, these shoes occupy a great spot in my footwear collection and cost a fraction of what most good shoes cost

I've had probably 8 or more pairs of these shoues over there years and I always have worn 9.5. So naturually I got the 9.5 size when I purchased these. I was surprised to find that they ended up being too smalll for me, so I had to send my pair back and get the size 10s. High markets for the comfort and style of these.

My son loves the color red and saw these shoes come up while I was shopping for something else. He fell in love and had to have them. I initially bought a size 2.5 but they were way too big. so I got him a size 2 which seem to fit and also gave him a little rooom. I would consider myself an intermediate experienced runner. I have ran a couple marathons and one 50k in my year and a half of running as a hobby. I average about 30-35 miles a week currently. I have size 13 feet with large toes, and need a shoe with a wide toe-box. About 9 months ago I started purchasing and testing various "minimal" shoes as I started to move from a heel/mid-foot-strike style of running to a forefoot-strike style of running. The second pair I purchased were a pair of Faas 250's, and I really liked them. I put about 250 miles on my first pair before moving to a pair of Nike Lunarracer shoes that ended up not having a long enough toe-box. I also tried the NB Minimus road, Nike Free 3.0, Nike Free-run+ but I eventually settled on the Faas 250 because I could run the longest in them with the least discomfort. They have an 8mm forefoot-to-heel rise with a very small amount of arch support which is nice when you get into long distances and your feet start to become fatigued and your stride gets sloppy, but it's not enough that it gets in the way of landing fore-foot first. They shoe is very light weight, and I have had no problems with tearing of the light-weight upper material. The only thing I don't like about the shoe is the shoe laces that come with the shoe are heavy and come untied easy, I always change them out with a better set of laces when I get a new pair. The sole does wear out quickly, and I get about 250-300 miles out of mine before I start to notice a bit of joint discomfort, which is when I purchase a new pair.

I love these shoes, and until they completely discontinue them I will continue to run in them as they are cheap, very lightweight, and work perfectly for my foot and running style. Everyone is different, these shoes may not work for some but they work great for me.

Pros:

-fastest feeling shoe I've ever worn

-very lightweight, no heel weight

-more cushioned than expected, quite comfortable

-good road surface feel

-good minimal transition shoe for midfoot striker

Cons:

-somewhat small toebox causes some wear on the mesh

-little lateral support with quick turns

The shoe was definitely a surprise as its more cushioned than my NB's with less heel rise.

Running feels effortless and fast with no turn over weight at the heel. The primary con is that I have worn a small hole at the small toe area faster than other shoes I've owned.

Best Deals on PUMA Faas 250 Running Shoe

By far, the best running shoe I have ever wore. I am a big guy, 5' 8"; 215 former powerlifter that switched to crossfit and every shoe I wore, my feet hurt like crazy the next day. Totally solved with this shoe! I would recomend for someone looking for a light shoe that is comfortable! i can't gaurantee it will last a long time, but for the price that isnt a big deal.

Honest reviews on PUMA Faas 250 Running Shoe

Great shoes for shorter runs (depending on your definition of short, around 3 miles). Anything above that can be taxing on your feet. I developed serious blisters during 4-5 mile runs, and didn't attempt anything much above that.

As for shoe construction, the right insert had the tendency to bunch at the front or back of the foot occasionally, but I solved that with a little duct tape. Otherwise, the lightness felt great. Don't think I'll return to regular-weight running shoes after this, but not so sure I'd purchase this particular model again.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for PUMA Faas 250 Running Shoe

The Faas 250 is a great running shoe. Weighing in at approx. 7 ounces it is light weight, while still having a supportive sole. In the Faas line of running shoes, the 250 has the least amount of support on the sides. Rather the sides are made of a breatheable mesh that doesn't restrict the foot. This is not an appropriate running shoe for long distance runners, half-marathoners and marathoners. If you are a long distance runner, there are other options in the Faas running line including the 550 and the 800 (both of which provide excellent side support for longer distance runners). If you run 5K's, shorter distances or just do a loop around the block in the morning, this is the shoe for you! The newest Faas 250's contain a new Puma technology called BioRide. BioRide works with the natural progression of the heel to the toe allowing the runner/walker to exercise for a longer amount of time with less foot pain. Additionally, the sole of the shoe is made of memory foam, which will form to your foot as the shoe breaks in. Overall, a fantastic shoe!

Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I have used these Spenco Arch Cushions for many years and love, love, love them! For the people who seem confused; there are several different versions of these. Full length, 3/4 length, arch CUSHION, arch SUPPORT, etc. These are the full-length arch cushions; which are a piece of flat thicker, firm, dense fabric-on-top foam with a very thick, firm, rounded foam arch cushion glued to the bottom. The arch supports have a hard plastic or very firm foam molded full or partial foot bed. These do not. These provide moderate arch support and great cushioning in your arch and whole foot. They also provide insulation from the cold ground or hot concrete. I use these in almost all of my shoes, boots and even my slippers. Occasionally, my dressier heels or flats will be too snug for these, so I will use a pair of the 3/4-length version instead. I sometimes will buy my shoes a half size bigger to accommodate these, as it is easy to do and so very worth it! I put these right in my shoes, on top of the existing foot bed or insole. Currently, I have at least a dozen pairs of these and some are more than 10 years old. (Got tired of taking them in and out of my different shoes.) I have worn them from early morning to late at night, washed and dried them in the dryer many times, gotten them wet while hiking in the rain, snow and mud (and kept going). Just recently, my 10+ year old pair is starting to come a little unglued by the arch cushion, but is still useable! These can easily be cut with a scissors to better fit the shape of your shoe, if you like. They are generously sized. They don't deteriorate or compress over time, like others I've tried. And they don't fall apart. I have arthritic feet, severe bunions and a severely bad back which makes it hard to walk and function. But with these insoles, I can. I honestly don't know what I'd do without them. I've tried many other brands including custom made orthotics, but for me, these are the very best! My spouse likes them too. Worth every penny!

I have been wearing Spenco Arch Cushions for literally 20 years, ever since a doctor recommended them to me as a child for chondromalacia patella (soreness behind the kneecaps). I put them in all of my athletic shoes, although they're too thick for most dressier shoes, I find. (The 3/4 length would work better for those.) Spenco Arch Cushions not only give my arches comfortable, soft support, but they prevent knee and back pain. My doctor says the arch cushions prevent my feet from overpronating (rolling inward), although I know many people with high arches have the opposite problem. Spenco makes a product so durable that if you wash the insoles from time to time, they'll last you for years! The foam is incredibly high-quality and dense, so it doesn't collapse like cheaper versions. Use them in good health!

Recently i broke my toes and injure the foot bed, started to step funny to protect the toes. I had the hardest time to wear any shoes. Found Spenco inserts on Amazon, they were not so cheap but nicely made. I was so happy when i received, removed the inserts of my sneakers, and put these instead. Immediately felt the difference, they felt like i was wearing pillows under my feet, also gave support where my arches needed making my feet comfortable, the pressure of stepping eased. Before i know, i was stepping normal again. 5 months later, my foot healed now, but i left these cushions inside of my sneakers, they are great for walking around town, or in the park. They are so thick pillowie, help with the shock absorbance. I highly recommend them.

I bought these running shoes mainly for off-road running on bare, uneven, dirt and grass tracks. They are rugged and comfortable footwear.

PROS:

The footbed is lightly padded and comfortable enough to wear all day.

These running shoes provide extra support if you have feet with high arches.

The midsoles actually enhance shock absorption for a springy step while running on paved tracks.

Goodbye lower backaches! :))

The textured rubber outer sole helps you keep your grip even on uneven, uphill dirt tracks.

The breathable mesh material keeps your feet comfortably cool and dry during your workout.

I bought the silver/gray/green colorway. Gray sneakers hide dirt well! :))

CONS:

Actually this is a NOTE:

I typically wear a size 10 in most shoes, but these shoes run a bit smaller. I ordered a 10.5 and they fit fine.

I highly recommend these shoes for brisk walking, hiking and running on paved surfaces, as well as uneven dirt tracks. These Saucony sneakers are both comfortable and stylish. You can even wear them as casual footwear with your favorite jeans.

Your feet will thank you! :))

I was not particularly happy with these shoes. I am an avid runner, and I always wear Saucony. I have wide toes and a narraw heel, so generally speaking, I prefer I a wider shoe, but this shoe was wide through the arch and my foot flopped around in it. If you're someone with a wide arch, this might be a good shoe for you. If not, I might look instead to the TR3.

I have tried every major brand of sneaker on the market over the years and accidentally stumbled upon this Saucony shoe 2 years ago when I was experiencing aching legs and sore heels. I will NEVER waste my money on another brand. I have had the same pair for 2 years (I'm a mom of three young children, I wear them everywhere!) and other than the day to day dirt and grime, there is not a thing wrong with them and they are still my favorite pair of shoes! If you are on the fence about Saucony, go into a shoe store and try them, then try the other major brands; you can feel the difference immediately!

I had a pair of Saucony's that I used to run my first and only marathon in 2007. I trained in them, ran the marathon in them and then wore them for work (healthcare) for the following 4 years. They held up like no other shoe I have ever owned. I just bought this particular Saucony shoe and once again, I am thoroughly impressed. It fits my foot so comfortably. A lot of other brands I have tried have caused knee pain and hip pain. These shoes don't. I have officially found my signature brand of shoe. I will always buy Saucony. Always.

Saucony is one of the best shoe companies for anyone with high arches (i know. i work in a shoe store) IF you get the correct style. I'd never tried this one on, but i liked the colors so i thought i'd give it a shot. I'm sending these back (or else giving them away, i haven't decided yet), but it's no big deal.., I have a tough time finding running shoes that work in the first place (high arches, high instep, and tendonitis in one ankle)!! Highly recommend anything by saucony if looking for new workout shoes!!!
