I would consider myself an intermediate experienced runner. I have ran a couple marathons and one 50k in my year and a half of running as a hobby. I average about 30-35 miles a week currently. I have size 13 feet with large toes, and need a shoe with a wide toe-box. About 9 months ago I started purchasing and testing various "minimal" shoes as I started to move from a heel/mid-foot-strike style of running to a forefoot-strike style of running. The second pair I purchased were a pair of Faas 250's, and I really liked them. I put about 250 miles on my first pair before moving to a pair of Nike Lunarracer shoes that ended up not having a long enough toe-box. I also tried the NB Minimus road, Nike Free 3.0, Nike Free-run+ but I eventually settled on the Faas 250 because I could run the longest in them with the least discomfort. They have an 8mm forefoot-to-heel rise with a very small amount of arch support which is nice when you get into long distances and your feet start to become fatigued and your stride gets sloppy, but it's not enough that it gets in the way of landing fore-foot first. They shoe is very light weight, and I have had no problems with tearing of the light-weight upper material. The only thing I don't like about the shoe is the shoe laces that come with the shoe are heavy and come untied easy, I always change them out with a better set of laces when I get a new pair. The sole does wear out quickly, and I get about 250-300 miles out of mine before I start to notice a bit of joint discomfort, which is when I purchase a new pair.

I love these shoes, and until they completely discontinue them I will continue to run in them as they are cheap, very lightweight, and work perfectly for my foot and running style. Everyone is different, these shoes may not work for some but they work great for me.

Pros:

-fastest feeling shoe I've ever worn

-very lightweight, no heel weight

-more cushioned than expected, quite comfortable

-good road surface feel

-good minimal transition shoe for midfoot striker

Cons:

-somewhat small toebox causes some wear on the mesh

-little lateral support with quick turns

The shoe was definitely a surprise as its more cushioned than my NB's with less heel rise.

Running feels effortless and fast with no turn over weight at the heel. The primary con is that I have worn a small hole at the small toe area faster than other shoes I've owned.

Best Deals on PUMA Faas 250 Running Shoe

By far, the best running shoe I have ever wore. I am a big guy, 5' 8"; 215 former powerlifter that switched to crossfit and every shoe I wore, my feet hurt like crazy the next day. Totally solved with this shoe! I would recomend for someone looking for a light shoe that is comfortable! i can't gaurantee it will last a long time, but for the price that isnt a big deal.

Honest reviews on PUMA Faas 250 Running Shoe

Great shoes for shorter runs (depending on your definition of short, around 3 miles). Anything above that can be taxing on your feet. I developed serious blisters during 4-5 mile runs, and didn't attempt anything much above that.

As for shoe construction, the right insert had the tendency to bunch at the front or back of the foot occasionally, but I solved that with a little duct tape. Otherwise, the lightness felt great. Don't think I'll return to regular-weight running shoes after this, but not so sure I'd purchase this particular model again.

The Faas 250 is a great running shoe. Weighing in at approx. 7 ounces it is light weight, while still having a supportive sole. In the Faas line of running shoes, the 250 has the least amount of support on the sides. Rather the sides are made of a breatheable mesh that doesn't restrict the foot. This is not an appropriate running shoe for long distance runners, half-marathoners and marathoners. If you are a long distance runner, there are other options in the Faas running line including the 550 and the 800 (both of which provide excellent side support for longer distance runners). If you run 5K's, shorter distances or just do a loop around the block in the morning, this is the shoe for you! The newest Faas 250's contain a new Puma technology called BioRide. BioRide works with the natural progression of the heel to the toe allowing the runner/walker to exercise for a longer amount of time with less foot pain. Additionally, the sole of the shoe is made of memory foam, which will form to your foot as the shoe breaks in. Overall, a fantastic shoe!
