I was a little worried that the shoes would be too big. I was told to order 1 size higher than what I wear and they fit my feet perfect. I just started running again last week and was only able to run 2 miles with my feet hurting for a while, but with these shoes I ran 5 miles and no soreness to my feet. Also they are very light, can't really feel them when running. I will definitely be buying these again.

I have been training for my first marathon while wearing these. I have worn other Adidas runners in the past and generally been pleased. These are definitely the best pair though. They are lightweight and breathe well. My feet are always dry at the end of long runs, and I don't have any blisters or soreness due to the shoe. So far I've put over a hundred miles on them and they aren't showing are signs of wear outside getting a little dirty. I think I will stick with this model shoe from now on in future purchases.

I ordered the exact same size I usually wear in Adidas runners and they fit like a glove. I am not so sure about the size issue. Maybe other buyers just got unlucky?

-Update: I ran my first half marathon in these and they held up well. I have been increasing my mileage more to do a full, and its time to replace these. I got about 400 miles out of my first pair, which is a little lower than I was hoping for, but I still think the overall performance of the shoe was worth it. I am now ordering my second pair and will continue to use this as my running shoe of choice as long as inventory holds out.

I purchased the blue/yellow color.. no need to tell that everyone who sees this pair admire them on the spot. They are very comfortable and I can tell my knees are feeling better already. I just dont know how lond they last for yet.

Used them the last 6 months in Afghanistan and since I've been back. Love them. If you don't want to spend 120+ bucks on some running shoes this is your best bet. Alot of times I wear them without socks and don't get sweaty feet or blisters.

They feel a bit narrow, but otherwise the lightweight build makes them a great choice for speed training and mid-length runs. I haven't used them over 13 miles in a single run, so who knows if they'll hold up to their Marathon name. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Now let me explain a couple of things here first: 1, I do not run unless I am being chased 2: I am not an avid exercise feind 3: These shoes are my work shoes and i am a nurse therefor I do not have any heavy duty usage out of these. I only asked for a couple of things i don't want them to feel like bricks on my feet and I want to be able to wear them for 8 hours without having my knees or feet feeling like I did a marathon (refer back to 1st comment). These are cheap (I like that) and they are easy on the feet. I usually don't change shoes very often so I like to have a pair I can depend on. These are very very good for the price, only complaint is no color at all, I mean none. White and grey, was the designer color blind?

These are at least the 4th pair of Avias I've purchased and I'm about to order a second (and maybe third) pair of them. They're comfortable and have great arch support. Great for running, hiking, working out, and every day use.

I just started running and I wanted something good for my feet that wasn't too expensive. These shoes are just as comfortable as shoes twice as expensive. These are definitely an amazing value for those just getting into running or walking. I'll probably buy another pair when mine wear out. You definitely can't get anything else this nice for this price.

I was nervous buying shoes online because of sizing, as every company makes sizes differently, but they fit perfect and are very comfortable! You definitely cannot beat the price either!

The AVIA A5018M is my favorite shoe. I keep ahead of their wearing out by buying ahead whenever

I see that my big fat shoe size is in stock, as sometimes the double wide 11.5 is not available. An excellent lightweight and comfortable shoe at a very economical price.

I love the construction of the shoe, as it creates a comfortable feeling that can be felt throughout the shoe. Most shoes have either a comfortable sole or insert, but the Onitsuka is truly an all-round great shoe. Moreover, I feel really light on my feet when I wear these shoes, which can be a plus depending on what one does during the day. There is no doubt that I will be purchasing another pair in the near future, as they are comfortable as hell, and they look great, too!

Running background I run between 15-25 miles week and have run several half-marathons (both stand alone events and in half ironmans).

Prior to running in Brooks, I ran in Nike Pegasus. I don't have anything against the Nike shoes, but began to wonder if the height of the heel padding was contributing to my ITB pain when I started increasing my distance. Several of my running friends encouraged me to try the Brooks based on my running style (more of a forefoot striker) and I have to admit I wish I had tried them sooner.

The shoe itself takes a little getting used to and they definitely aren't a shoe that you would use for anything other than running. Walking in them feels somewhat awkward because of the padding in the forefoot. Nevertheless, they are a dream to run in.

I typically wear a size 10.5 11 (with 11 being more common), and my Brooks are a size 11. The toebox is really roomy and I read this was to allow for your toes to spread out more during the run. I've got lots of toe room, to the point of the shoe feeling like it might be too big, but they fit perfectly.

I'm looking forward to putting some mileage on these shoes.

I began my brooks journey with the first pureflows and I run about 35 miles a week. These shoes are great! When my pureflow (1) gave out I went and bought another pair immediately and then saw that these came out. I ordered these in orange day one that I could and have put about 20 miles on them so far. These shoes are designed as more of a minimal type shoe for road running. Do not get the thought that they are toe shoe or minimalist, they are just more of a road shoe. The still give great support though. They are snug on the arch like you would want and wide in the shoe box which allows for a more natural foot plant at strike and to give you a little more grip and push for explosion. These have a lot to offer. With that said it mentions that you can expect only about 250-300 miles. I say that is extremely conservative. If the 2's last along as my last ones did, I got about 550 out of them including a full marathon. This can be expected depending upon your style of running, your pronation, if you take them off road a lot, how much you wear them outside of just the run (mine are on only to go run, no extra walking around or as little as possible)... Hope this helps.

Best Deals on Brooks Men's PureFlow 2 Lightweight Running Shoes

The PureFlow2 is, as the name would suggest, the second generation of the fully cushioned, 4mm drop shoe from the Brooks Pure Project. The Pure Project is Brooks' foray into minimalism, and they've seen decent success. The PureFlow2 (PF2) falls into roughly the same category of shoes as the Saucony Kinvara 3. Its light weight, low offset, and wide toe box put it squarely in the minimalist genre, while its full cushioning and stack height give the feel and protection of a more traditional trainer. Don't let the word "minimalist" throw you off, though. This shoe brings a lot to the table in terms of technology. "Technology?" you may ask. Why, yes. The PF2 is a walking, or perhaps running, (heh heh) contradiction. It is a minimalist shoe with all the bells and whistles.

Think, Smart Car with a lift kit, rims, hood scoop, and a fin. There's nothing wrong with such a Smart Car. The extras don't turn it into a gas guzzling SUV. But it does seem go against the ethos of why a Smart Car was built in the first place. To date, the Brooks PureFlow2 is the most technology equipped minimalist shoe I've ever used. The bad news is that some of these "technologies" do nothing for me. The good news is that they don't seem to inhibit me either. In fact, I even like some them.

The Best Parts

FitI really enjoy the feel of the tongueless, asymmetrical lacing system. I honestly wish more shoe companies would make the jump. I think asymmetrical lacing works because feet are asymmetrical. The thickness of a foot is not uniform, but traditional lacing systems treat the foot like it is. Instead of cinching the two pieces of the upper over the top of your foot, the upper of the PF2 swaddles the the foot with overlapping layers of maternal affection. I simultaneously feel secure and free. Good job, mama Brooks. Also, the PF2 run wider than some of the other PureProject shoes, which in my humble estimation is a big plus. Minimalist/barefoot enthusiasts love the extra space.

CushioningThe cushioning in the PF2, as I mentioned earlier, is very similar to the well loved Kinvara 3. It may be just a touch firmer if at all. Perfect for a daily trainer. My longest runs in these shoes have been between 9 and 10 miles, but they could easily perform well over longer distances; I suspect they'd be great up to a marathon. If you're used to running in something more on the barefoot end of the minimalist spectrum (like I was) then this will feel like quite a lot of cushion between you and the ground, enough to noticeably change your gait. Brooks claims that their BioMoGo DNA midsole is an "adaptive" cushioning system, meaning that it should feel firmer when running faster and and softer when running slower. If the midsole is actually accomplishing this, and I'm skeptical that it is, it's not all that noticeable.

Beveled HeelBrooks calls their beveled heel design, "Ideal Heel". Whatever they call it, it works great. It makes the shoes feel more level than the 4mm offset would suggest. Further, it delivers on the promise of moving the runner a little more forward in their stance making the mid/forefoot strike feel about as natural as it would in a zero drop shoe.

DurabilityAfter 100 miles, there is very little wear on the outsole rubber. It may be difficult to see in the photos, but there are very small, hexagonal etchings on the black in the rubber pods. The only difference I can see between the sole with 0 miles and the sole with 100 miles is that some of those etchings seem to have worn off. They served no function beyond aesthetics as far as I can tell, so the out sole rubber might as well be new. Likewise the upper is flawless.

Traction is good but not great; fine for every road I've been on. I took these out for two snowy/icy runs. They performed fine. They didn't catch my attention as being either excellent or sloppy. I slipped around a little, but not enough to think that the shoes were failing me.

The Worst Parts

As I mentioned, the worst part about this shoe that it's not as awesome as it wants to be, which isn't to say that the shoe is bad. Think of this section of "The Worst Parts" as "The Underwhelming and Mediocre Parts".

TechnologyTechnology is not bad. But I am pretty sure a good bit of the technology that is supposed to make these shoes unique and, indeed, supposed to set the entire PureProject apart, is non-functional. Take the Nav Band for example. It seems like nothing more than a piece of elastic waistband material. I can't tell if it's doing anything that the laces are not doing already. I can't feel it, so it is good that it doesn't bother me, but I'm not sure why it's there. The other bit of technology that has me scratching my head is the split toe. It's not a bad idea really. Other folks are doing it. The idea is that it'll allow the big toe to flex independently and in a more natural way. That would be fantastic if the big toe section could actually move. I can push, squeeze, compress and pull at the toes of the PF2's but I can not, for the life of me, make that big toe section budge one bit from the rest of the shoe. So how exactly does it allow my big toe to flex independently of the rest of my foot?

Weight and FlexibilityThe PF2's are light (8.5 oz), but they could be lighter. The upper is thick and firm. Here, I think the PF2 could learn from the Kinvara 3. The Kinvara is comparably cushioned, even slightly thicker (23mm/19mm heel and forefoot stack heights), uses a similarly strategic outsole rubber scheme, but manages to be noticeably lighter (0.6 oz lighter according runningwarehouse.com). So where does the extra weight come from? Almost certainly from upper materials including the Nav Band. The shoe is no clunker, but it's no feather weight either.

The PF2's flexibility, like some of its other features, is just ok. It's certainly more flexible than some of the other shoes Brooks makes (*cough* Beasts *cough*), but is just average compared to other minimalist shoes in it's category. On maybe one in ten runs I feel like I'm fighting the stiffness just a little. My foot wants to bend and flex in a way that is every so gently restricted. Perhaps another 100 miles will change it's mind.

Conclusion

The PF2 is a solid shoe and has been my go to daily trainer since January. I can't say that it has ever let me down. It leaves something to be desired in terms of simplicity, but the lack of simplicity is not a deal breaker. If you're looking for a transitional minimalist shoe, or just a cushioned daily trainer that is level, and feels stable and secure, you should take a look at the PureFlow2.

Honest reviews on Brooks Men's PureFlow 2 Lightweight Running Shoes

I recently purchased these to replace a pair of the Pureflow 1st generation shoes that I had used. I previously ran in New Balance Minimus shoes for the past couple years, but I'd been unable to go longer distances without getting injuries (usually forefoot pain). When I switched to the first generation pureflow, I LOVED them and thought I had found the perfect shoes. After putting 300-400 miles on them, I figured it was time to move to a new pair and I bought the Pureflow 2s.

I've been running on the pureflow 2s for almost a month now, and I don't like them. They aren't as comfortable as the 1st generation and I feel like they have less heel padding. The fit feels more like the NB minimus shoes, and I once again have gotten forefoot pain and knee pain (which stopped when I started using barefoot-style running shoes).

To be fair, I'm a bigger than your average runner (both height and weight), and these shoes may have been designed for someone with more of a traditional runner's physique. Anyway, I'm going to order more of the first generation pureflow shoes if I can find them in my size, and I'll probably give away the second generation pair.

I got these couple of weeks before running my first marathon and had no issues with them. They are really comfortable and light and provide nice support. I completed the marathon faster then I had trained for. I really like the way the lip is sewn on one side so that it does not move around. But after five months of running about 260 miles, they have become spongy and no longer provide adequate support and I started to get pain on back side of my heel. That is quite disappointing for such expensive shoes. So now I have bought a pair of Brooks Ghost 6 and lets see how they fare compare to these.

Overall the shoes are great. But when I purchased them, the description said black/white. When I got them, they were actually dark blue and black with white accents. I even checked the box and tag and both said black/white so I was disappointed. I needed black shoes. But the blue is dark enough that you have to look closely to notice so I decided to keep them. I just wanted to warn others the only interior, tongue and shoestrings are black.

Iso shift a second best to the syncroguide II. It holds up to a great support shoe with an med to high arch. Only in the first month of using shoe right now. Great shoe with no break in period at all.

I have the pair with the orange laces and trim and could not beat the price ($32 bucks at the Navy Exchange) however, there was a reason the shoes would not sell they're horrible (for running). I know use them solely for casual wear (nice looking shoes) but, when I ran in them I had dis-comfort in heel and knee (never had dis-comfort with *any* other shoe). And, since I own many other shoes, rather than risk injury, I removed the shoes from my rotation after about 30 miles of wear.

PI renamed these from Syncroguide III and improved on what was already a great shoe. The support and feel is the same, but they've improved the stability and look immensely. I was originally referred to this brand by a local running store when I was training for my first half marathon. I had some pronation and these took care of the problem along with some pain that was being caused by using shoes with too much of an arch. Not only did I go from never running to completing a half marathon, I did so with no pain in my feet at all. I'm impressed with these shoes overall from build quality, to comfort, to look. Awesome shoes!!

I have never had to write a review like this in the years that I have been purchasing on line but now it is time. I own this winder and it worked well for about a month and then began to slow down to the point it no longer works at all with either a light weight or heavier self winder. I have repeatedly attempted to get the company to stand behind their product to no avail. About two months ago they told me to wait for a week and I would receive a return authorization and would have to pay to ship it back east to get it repaired or replaced. After that I have been unable to get a response or hear back from them in any way. BAD COMPANY ! Amazon should remove them from their site.

This might just be mine and my husband's personal opinions, but we both thought there was way more blue (light blue) in real life than showed in the picture and I ended up returning them. My nephew I don't think would have cared for so much light blue, but again, personal preference. Everything else with the shoe looked and felt good just didn't think the colors showed as much online as in real life.

I am a Nike athletic shoe lover. I bought these shoes for my husband. Luckily he looked into the brand before buying and learned that the sizes run a bit big so he went to the store and tried on a similar pair before buying. The shoes came and fit perfect and looked great. Packing was perfect and the shoes were in perfect shape, just as if bought at a store. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that my husband says they are not very comfortable. The do look really good though! They are just a little on the stiff side and the back of the heel is thin and without much padding.

I have major foot problems and I recently started running which I love to do I initially used Brooks for overpronators but then at some point they became heavy and slightly bulk y for me. I tried the minmalist shoes, but as a flat footed overpronator, those didn't work for me and gave me major foot and calf pain. These shoes are the sweet spot for my slightly wide, flexible flat arch-ed foot. I will probably keep getting them as long as they make them. They allow my foot to feel comfortable yet secure, with a cushy sole. Not too heavy. Just perfect!

. . .don't fix it: that's what I have to tell Saucony. While this shoe is my size--neither too small nor too large--it does NOT fit as expected. But there's nothing to click on that gets that across, so. . .

. . .I started wearing Kinvaras as soon as they came out, a few years ago--best running shoe I'd ever worn. I was relieved when version 2 fit just as well and felt just as light and flexible as version 1, and was hoping 3 would be no different. Alas, I can't wear these: they might as well be a different species. My feet feel encased in them. The heel, especially, is stiff and comes up way too high on my ankle. I took just a few steps around the room and knew I had to return them, as I'll never be able to run in them. What a disappointment! I can only hope version 4 recaps the near-perfection of #s 1 and 2.

I realize #3 may be perfect for some runners. But I've given it 2 stars, instead of more, for the simple reason that it departs so grossly and annoyingly from the original. Saucony, why did you change the Kinvara? This version is a ruin! Bring back #1!

I had never ran distances before and wanted to start training for a half marathon. I ran in my regular sneakers and had very sore knees afterwards, which lasted a day or so. I love these shoe laces. I bought then to spice up my running shoes and they instantly looked better, just with these shoe laces. I got many compliments. However, I found that these shoe laces often came untied due to lack of grip and short length. These would be excellent for everyday shoes, but for more athletic, running, or performance shoes, they are not too reliable. With the original shoelaces for my running shoes, I got used to only having to tie the laces once (without double knotting) so the grip was great, but I always had to be sure to double knot these laces and they would end up loosening up to an uncomfortable degree during a run. Running in loose shoes is no fun and more of a frustration than anything.

In a nutshell, these look awesome, but don't work well for function and performance. They would be great for more everyday shoes used in daily activity vs athletic activity.
