I'm a huge Salomon fan anyway so I was expecting big things from these shoes. They're fabulous in most ways. Grip is good, even on wet slimy surfaces, they're quick drying and they look good. I do find that the heel clasp slips a little. I usually have to reach down and tighten them every few minutes. Fine when bike riding, a bit annoying when bushwalking.

They also don't have the arch support that most of their other shoes do. Having said that, it was easy enough to take the insoles out of an old pair and slot them in. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a heavy duty amphibious shoe.

These were just as I had expected. They are a bit heavy and hard for running but fantastic for walking long distances. They are very sturdy and since there is very good cushioning at the front half of the shoes, the feet don't get too tired. Great for both walking in the city and hiking in the mountains.

I have an older variety of this same shoe...they are worn I wanted to update. These aren't the same. The backs don't flip down as nicely, like they maybe aren't meant to, even though they are. I don't wear my old ones in the water, just a great all around town shoe (airport too), you can slip on. Anyway, this "shrew" color was really ugly. I returned them without hesitation. Blech. Guess I will keep the old ones a little longer.

Honest reviews on Salomon Women's Tech Amphib 3 Cross-Country Shoe

But they didn't adjust at all according to size. Meaning, I ordered a size 6, so the bottom fit, but the backs and side were still really high. They're supposed to be water shoes, but you couldn't possibly wear them without socks. I got blisters just from walking back and forth between rooms to show them to my husband.

I choose this rating because they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I've always had big feet, and have been unable to find ANY shoes that fit me perfectly. But these came in an 11.5 in Womens, AND THEY ARE LIKE HEAVEN! It barely even feels as if I am wearing shoes. :D

Honest reviews on Pearl iZUMi Women's Iso Transition Triathlon/Train Shoe

I bought these shoes not only so that T1 transition would be faster but also because I needed some new minimal running shoes with a little wider toe box than I had on my Asics. I was having some problems with Morton's Neuroma on my right foot. I have had no problems since I switched to these shoes. I will warn anyone who is looking for a cushioned motion control shoe that this is not the shoe for you. It is closer to a racing flat than a cushioned road shoe. That is perfect for me. I am a neutral, high arched runner. The only reason the shoe did not get 5 stars is because after only about 50 miles there is already some slight wear showing up on the sole near the heel. These are pretty expensive shoes and I hope they hold up longer than a few hundred miles.

These shoes are an outstanding value for recreational riders or practical cycling around town. I have started using them for commuting to work, and they are perfect for that purpose. The fit is right-on (I usually wear between a 12 and 13, and Shimano's size 48 fits perfectly). Snug enough that your foot isn't moving around, but plenty of room in the toe box, so they're not as severely narrow as many traditional bike shoes. They work great with Shimano's Click'R pedals I haven't tried them with other SPD pedals, but they are supposed to be fine for that use too. So far, they always detach quickly and easily when I want them to, and have never detached when I wasn't expecting it. They look nice, and it was interesting to see that the main fabric (that part that's green if you get that version) is a tough but thin mesh, so I expect they will be fairly cool in hot weather. The cleat is fully recessed into the sole, with a wide area around it that channels the clip towards the cleat. That means you shouldn't be clacking along hard floors (although I'd still be careful on wood floors, for example). As comfortable for walking as you can expect from a stiff cycling shoe. I wouldn't have any problem using these as my sole shoes on a hike-and-bike outing, for example. There is a laces keeper a little elastic band half-way down the tongue of the shoe that you can tuck your laces into, so they don't snag with the bike chain.

Here's a little background to explain where I'm coming from on this review... As a long-time cyclist, I've used Shimano's SPD cleat system for many years, but mainly for recreational rides. When I'm commuting to work through stop-and-go traffic, having to clip in immediately at every start was a pain in the neck. So for commuting, I abandoned SPD several years ago, and have been using the half-size toe clips without straps. When Shimano introduced the Click'R system, I was keen to try it because it finally seemed like a good compromise between a platform pedal and a clipless SPD pedal. So far, I'm a definite fan, and have just started using this pedal and shoe system for my commuting to work. It works better than other SPD pedals for that purpose, because the platform part of the pedal is plenty wide and supportive enough that you can just hop on and start pedalling when the light turns green (for example). No worries about getting clipped in or having to worry that you foot will slide off the pedal (which is what happened for me on the more minimalist SPD pedals). Great solution for cycling around town!

I have used two other SPD shoes (Adidas and Mavic) that are oriented toward the casual mountain biker or recreational user, and I would say that the CT40 are the most comfortable of the three, and also the best for walking around in. Part of it is that Shimano sizes these more like normal shoes, rather than narrow coffins for your feet. But also, the CT40 has a truly recessed cleat, when others are only partly recessed.

I was concerned about how easy it would be to get used to riding with these pedals and shoes. I love this system. Very easy to click in and slip out.

The shoes are comfortable. No surprises.

Great shoe. Looks good, breathable, definitely not a racing shoe but excellent for casual rides and the short tour, and works great as a sneaker too! True to size. Easy to break in. I use it with (non-shimano) one sided clipless SPD platform combi pedals. Work like a charm. Truth be told I don't think there is another shoe out there quite like it or suited for the same niche. By niche, I mean the type of cycler that enjoys a good weekend road tour but wants to stop half way thru the ride to smell the flowers and pick up a burger. You can walk around in it with cleats in just as you would a regular sneaker plus it doesn't look goofy.

Honest reviews on Shimano 2014 Men's Commuter/Tour Cycling Shoes - SH-CT40

I am a casual rider, and I was looking for a shoe that wasn't for extreme racing or training and had a small learning curve. These lived up to my expectations. They are comfortable and easy to handle (I attribute that to Shimano's SPD system). I usually wear a size 9 shoe, and many conversion tables, I decided on the 42cm, which Shimano equates to an American size 8.3. They fit a little snug, but I expect them give a little after some serious miles. I was concerned before ordering because there was no strap to secure the laces, but after lacing up, I found an elastic band on the shoe tongue that holds them in place. They are a little heavier than I would have l liked, but I am not that concerned about shaving weight from my ride.

I recommend these shoes for commuting and touring. I was most interested in getting a shoe that I could easily walk in. I was preparing for a commute to work that included a very steep hill which included a 10% grade for 3/4 of a mile. I was worried that I may have to dismount and walk up the hill. The shoe is easy to walk with, though the cleat will grind a little on the sidewalk without visible damage. The shoe is stable enough to safely climb or descend a flight of stairs while carrying a bike. The shoe has been very comfortable with the hard pedaling required by the hills I've climbed. And the shoes easily disconnect when I need to stop or get off the bike. Once, one of the cleats came loose. I solved it by re-tightening the screws with Loc-Tite on the threads. I also lost the small plastic tabs attached to the elastic loops on the shoe tongues used to secure the laces. You can easily grab the elastic loop without the tab. I use the Shimano PD-M530 pedals with these shoes. After 800+ miles, the shoes have been great.

I was actually suprised when I received my shoes that they were not picture acurate I ordered brown with fur and if you look at the pic they where leather up top and suede leather out front, mine were suede leather at the upper section and glossy out front, but they are very nice.

My first impression was how nice the shoe packaging was. The box is the type you would like to keep rather than throw out, and the shoes inside were wrapped in individual velvet like zip bags.

The shoes themselves are very well made. Heavy but look exactly as described in the pictures. The zipper on the side works well, and I didn't find much resistance when pulling up or down.

The strap was hard to get out of the belt buckle, so I left it alone. I'd say the shoe fits quite well and is comfortable to walk in. The front part is harder of course, so for some with longer toes.. cramping might become an issue.

Overall the shoe is very well made, the stitching seems to be good quality.

CONS:

Gets hot! Not much breathing in these type of shoes but that is to be expected if you simply looked at the picture.

This comes in a very nice box and bags for the boots, not typical and a nice little show. When I put these boots on they are fantastic, very unusual look that could go nicely with casual to semi dress. They are comfortable. I know with boots the true test is time, so I purchased these in March and will try to give some updates on the amount of use and wear on the boots.

First of all, I may be biased because I really didn't like the style of the shoe upon seeing it in person. My main beef with this shoe is that I found its craftsmanship lacking especially the leather.

I am a pretty long term trail runner. I have run from 5 mile races to 50 milers and I have been searching for a neutral and zero drop shoe with some decent bottom foot projection for a long time. I run in minimalists because of an ankle injury, not because it is faddish, and it has been frustrating having to feel every single rock in the only shoes that kept me from rolling my ankle. These shoes do just that the allow for a natural stride on my permanently injured ankle without sacrificing traction and bottom foot protection. They also have a wide toe box that better allows for toe swelling on longer races.

I have trouble finding appropriate running wear, since I have low arches and constant foot/knee pain. These shoes have seriously helped me on my road to recovery. They fit incredibly well I generally wear 11.5M, and these fit the bill (NB Minimus Running Shoe in 12E was still too short/lacked support for me). My only complaint is regarding the toe box though wider than normal, I sometimes get slight toe cramping from my mid-strike running.

Best Deals on Inov-8 Trailroc 235 Trail Running Shoe

These are not my first pair of Inov-8's and I keep coming back because they perform. I've ran these on sandstone, sand, lave rock and some asphalt and the surefootedness is outstanding. Even without a rock plate in the sole, those occasional bad foot placements are hardly an issue. My only complaint and it would be minimal is I'd like to toe box to be just a tad wider to allow my toes to flay a little more. The uppers allow my feet to breath well and stay cool in the hot desert climate. All in all an outstanding zero drop trail running shoe. Quality construction as with previous Inov-8 shoes.

The Boots look great, but when I first put them on, the steel toe rubbed my large toe slightly. After four hours of wearing them, both sides of my foot were too sore to continue wearing them. One person suggested that they needed to be "broken in", but I am not tough enough to break in the steel toe on the boot. The steel toe looks like it belongs on a regular or even narrow boot. I am now the owner of $186 boots that were worn only 4 hours.

My husband has worn the Danner 47002 Men's 6 inch Istigator Steel Toe Boot for a long time. I don't know if they are made different now, but they don't see to be the same quality they used to be. They were out very quickly. He will be switching brands the next time he needs new boots.

My husband who is a carpenter stands, walks, climbs, kneels, & squats continually in 10-12 hours per day x5-7 days a week. He highly recommends this boot. It provided comfort and stability to his feet, knees, hips, and back. These boots will last him a good 6+ months. The last pair made it 1 year before not proving the support he needed. This company offers a good price and shipping meet expectations for a wide width not available from other locations. Wishing you happy feet!

Honest reviews on Danner 47002 Men's 6 in Instigator Steel Toe Boots Brown 10.5 EE US

While these are not Made in the USA like other Danners, (from what I can tell, all molded sole boots are not US made) they are the best mid-priced boot I have ever bought. They are made on a wide last (the 850 according to Danner's web site) and a D fit my very wide foot but was a little narrow. Not narrow enough to stop me from buying them however. I wore them in non-hiking boot condition, like in concrete pours and industrial construction. They lasted two Oregon winters where they were constantly wet but kept my feet dry. They would spend each night by the heater and then wore again the next day. They lasted 1.5 to 2 years under these conditions. I've bought construction type work boots that lasted half-that time but cost almost as much and others that cost more. As far as the color, they are not bright orange like suggested by others but they are not brown. A little leather conditioner changed them to brown however.

Great boot...and very comfortable.

UPDATE: 2/13/2013

Just bought another pair of these yesterday...definately not orange. I bought these in a 10.5 EE and they fit great. They are even more comfortable than I remember. Very good boot. I did apply a boot grease and the color definately changed to a darker brown.

Boot is great still.

Dear friends of Amazon,

I am reviewing the Danner Instigator GTX Gore-Tex (uninsulated/no thinsulate etc...), boots. I am military, law enforcement, and an avid hiker... so I was expecting a boot which fit the description which Danner labeled to the letter. My Danner military boots have lasted through many battles (on and off the field). However, BEWARE!!!! These boots, while decent quality compared to similarly priced boots on the market, are not what I'd expected. For one thing... Unlike the photographs... they are by NO STRETCH of the imagination BROWN with TAN highlights!!!!! These boots are as orange as a pumpkin! As both military (uniform) and law enforcement (uniform) requirements are very specific, I discovered that these boots ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE under any conditions to wear for duty. And then I figured, "Well... I'll just keep them for hiking then!" But, as soon as I undid the laces, and prepared to try them on for the first time, I quickly discovered that they have a LEATHER collar around the ankle section.... another misstatement, as DANNER claimed they had a cloth/gore-tex like material which comfortably surrounds the ankle! Yeah right! That's on the outside!? It's cloth on the outside, and leather on the inside? HUH? Anyone who does ANY hiking will tell you that that is a friction problem waiting to happen! Remember those rub marks when you wore crappy boots as a kid? So I called them to get my money back. They supposedly have a "no questions asked" FREE returns policy right, which was one of the reasons I'd picked them too! But (again), since I'd ordered them through the MILITARY website, they would not take them back (nor would they take them back if you got them on AMAZON either she explained)! So, now I am stuck with a pair of boots which CANNOT be worn with ANY clothing imaginable(unless your going as a pumpkin to the next Halloween party of course)!

Signed,

Really pissed off at Danner!

PS. Also bought an extra pair of the "supposedly" impact dampening inserts too. They were $16, and no better than the cheap gel Doctor Shoel's (however you spell it) inserts one can obtain at any drug store for $6. But don't believe me... come on and waist your money too! My advice is to look at customer photo's on each site, as when one tries to take a picture of them THEY DO look brown and tan! But when you take them out of the box in the regular light they are not! First pair of shoes I'd describe as functionally and visually HIDEOUS!

Saucony Men's Powergrid Hurricane 14 Running Shoe Review

Saucony Men's Powergrid Hurricane 14 Running Shoe,White/Silver/Blue,10 M US

The Hurricane 14 marked my return to Saucony style running shoes after a 3 year hiatus. Typically in major running shoes, the innovation are small from year to year, but the transition from 13 to 14 here is definitely noticeable. For starters, they have lowered the shoe so your fott is defitinely lower and pointed towards the ground. They added some padding to the bottom of the shoe as well. You will still find solid lacing control and the heel lock, but it is truly the way the shoe fits on you that will make the difference.

As a stocky 250 pound+ runner, I require a certain amont of comfortability and shock absorption. Thus far, I have experiences no shin splints and my feet have felt great after about 12 miles in each shoe. By each shoe I mean that I actually buy 2 pair at a time of different colors and then rotate them frequently. As a heavy runner I am even harder on shoes than most and keeping two pair in rotation keeps me from breaking them down too quickly.

Overall I am very pleased and feel like I got my money's worth here. You pay a premium for good running shoes and while I am sure there are countless cheaper options, I am not taking any chances with my feet.

Light enough to make a difference from running in cross-trainers, but plenty of support. This isn't a "micro-light" shoe, but its not supposed to be. For me at 6'4" and 215 pounds, running about 20 miles a week, it was just what I needed to keep ankles and knees from hurting but give me enough spring and weight reduction that I felt they were worth the purchase. I would certainly buy these "Best Update" (Runners World)award winners again.

Best Deals on Saucony Men's Powergrid Hurricane 14 Running Shoe

I have serious over-pronation. So much so that I always had to wear extra-wide high tops for EVERYTHING. When I started running on a regular basis, high top tennis shoes just weren't cutting it. My friend recommended the Saucony Hurricanes because they are especially designed for those of us who need extra support and stabilization. They fit wonderfully. They are very light and comfortable. The design is simple and not flashy and best of all, it doesn't feel like my little toe is about to break through the outside seam. I highly recommend this shoe to anyone with low arches or has over pronation. I would suggest you order a half-size higher than you would normally wear.

Honest reviews on Saucony Men's Powergrid Hurricane 14 Running Shoe

I generally I have not had good experiences with Saucony. Usually they are too wide for my feet and/or too long. In addition i have found that they do not last long before they wear out. I have had soles completely worn out after only a few months of normal use. My first Saucony shoes I bought in the mid-1990s for High School cross country team, they completely wore out by mid season, while other's shoes lasted entire season and where still serviceable. My running coach warned me about the brand. Due my previous negative experiences I do have a bias against this brand. But I need supportive running shoes since I excessively overpronate and since having reconstructive surgery on my right knee years ago I need a shoe with more cushioning. This limits the make and model shoes I can wear. In the past I have had good experience with Adidas and New Balance, and tend to buy from those two manufactures. This time I was not overly impressed with their offerings so I decided to try other brands. But I found that many supportive shoes tend to be too heavy. This rules out a good portion of shoes I am willing to try. This time it basically came down to the Hurricane, Mizuno Alchemy 12, and Brooks Adrenaline 12 or 13. I was able to get these shoes cheaper than the other two so I decided to order them against my better judgement sight unseen. I am surprised on the fit and comfort of the Hurricane 14 right out of the box. They fit perfectly without any excessive looseness around my mid foot and ankle. I only have worn them a few times running so in the brief testing period I found the shoes to be comfortable. There is a sensation as if I am running on pillows. Yet the shoe is light and stiff enough for fast paced runs and long distance. They do help control my overpronating, though they feel slightly less supportive than other shoes I have owned. Then again they don't weight as much either, which I am wiling to accept the trade off. The only negative I have come across is they do tend to be breezy for winter temps so I have to wear thicker socks. Other than that I really like the shoes. I hope they will last a long time. I will update my review at a later time on their long term durability.

NB has been my running shoe of choice, and only the versions manufactured in the USA (received my first pair in boot camp). I wanted a pair of "fashion" sneakers, with chucks being the most common, and jacks being completely destroyed by converse in all quality/comfort aspects (but price is still the same if not higher) I started looking at NB for this. The version I received is dark grey with maroon instead of the light grey/black/orange. Comfortable/stylish, definitely happy with purchase.

I bought these running shoes mainly for off-road running on bare, uneven, dirt and grass tracks. They are rugged and comfortable footwear.

PROS:

The footbed is lightly padded and comfortable enough to wear all day.

These running shoes provide extra support if you have feet with high arches.

The midsoles actually enhance shock absorption for a springy step while running on paved tracks.

Goodbye lower backaches! :))

The textured rubber outer sole helps you keep your grip even on uneven, uphill dirt tracks.

The breathable mesh material keeps your feet comfortably cool and dry during your workout.

I bought the silver/gray/green colorway. Gray sneakers hide dirt well! :))

CONS:

Actually this is a NOTE:

I typically wear a size 10 in most shoes, but these shoes run a bit smaller. I ordered a 10.5 and they fit fine.

I highly recommend these shoes for brisk walking, hiking and running on paved surfaces, as well as uneven dirt tracks. These Saucony sneakers are both comfortable and stylish. You can even wear them as casual footwear with your favorite jeans.

Your feet will thank you! :))

I was not particularly happy with these shoes. I am an avid runner, and I always wear Saucony. I have wide toes and a narraw heel, so generally speaking, I prefer I a wider shoe, but this shoe was wide through the arch and my foot flopped around in it. If you're someone with a wide arch, this might be a good shoe for you. If not, I might look instead to the TR3.

I have tried every major brand of sneaker on the market over the years and accidentally stumbled upon this Saucony shoe 2 years ago when I was experiencing aching legs and sore heels. I will NEVER waste my money on another brand. I have had the same pair for 2 years (I'm a mom of three young children, I wear them everywhere!) and other than the day to day dirt and grime, there is not a thing wrong with them and they are still my favorite pair of shoes! If you are on the fence about Saucony, go into a shoe store and try them, then try the other major brands; you can feel the difference immediately!

Honest reviews on Saucony Women's Grid Excursion TR 5 Trail Running Shoe

I had a pair of Saucony's that I used to run my first and only marathon in 2007. I trained in them, ran the marathon in them and then wore them for work (healthcare) for the following 4 years. They held up like no other shoe I have ever owned. I just bought this particular Saucony shoe and once again, I am thoroughly impressed. It fits my foot so comfortably. A lot of other brands I have tried have caused knee pain and hip pain. These shoes don't. I have officially found my signature brand of shoe. I will always buy Saucony. Always.

Saucony is one of the best shoe companies for anyone with high arches (i know. i work in a shoe store) IF you get the correct style. I'd never tried this one on, but i liked the colors so i thought i'd give it a shot. I'm sending these back (or else giving them away, i haven't decided yet), but it's no big deal.., I have a tough time finding running shoes that work in the first place (high arches, high instep, and tendonitis in one ankle)!! Highly recommend anything by saucony if looking for new workout shoes!!!

I love this top. It is so soft and stretchy. True to Nike Size. Color has not faded despite several washings (and some sweat!) Completely recommend!

I bought these for my son as an easy-on, easy off all purpose, ventilated shoe for warm weather outdoor wear. He has been wearing a men's size 9 in Merrells, so I bought a half size up thinking they'd be roomy and last through the summer before the next growth spurt. (He's only 11 but very tall and lanky and wearing men's sizes!)

The shoe is attractive, lightweight, and seems well made. But they do run a bit snug, and are not as easy to pull on as I'd hoped. Probably not a problem for someone with a narrower foot. If your feet are wide, you might want to try a different shoe. Overall, these seem to run smaller than some brands. I notice other reviewers said these run large, but that was not our experience.

Update to my review: about a month after we bought these, one of the laces broke. Replacement laces at the local shoe store cost about $7.99. A little pricey for laces, but I could handle that. The problem is, the original laces that come with the shoe were actually glued, or possibly sewn, very tightly inside one of the openings down the center of the top of the shoe. They are REALLY glued in there. I never could get all of it out; I had to use scissors and a shish kebab skewer to jimmy an opening big enough to force the new lace through alongside that stubborn bit of the old lace. Apparently the manufacturers had the idea that either these laces would never need replacing, or that I was going to spend another $50 or so to replace the whole shoe just for a broken lace. That was a real pain.

I was not sure whether I wanted this one or the Sperry Top-Sider Sounder Shandal. No store had this one to try but the other fit and felt well. I decided to order this and try it to decide which to get and it fits great and feels great. I am going on a Colorado River raft trip and this will be perfect!

These are nice shoes but in my opinion they run about 1 size larger than normal.I would recommend for fishing, beach etc.

Honest reviews on Sperry Top-Sider Men's 'Son-r' Bungee Sneaker

I bought these for my boyfriend who had slipped and injured himself on his last canoe trip. We had shopped at local stores, and all the water shoes there were either too flimsy or looked just like a pair of regular sneakers. He wanted something light and that would dry quickly, but he also had a good rugged toe, sides, and bottom for underwater rocks while maneuvering shallow water with a canoe.

He wears a 12.5 which is very hard to find in men's shoes, so we are always debating between a size 12 and size 13. This size 12 fit his foot comfortably, and he had no more slipping! He also has trouble with comfort in shoes that you do not wear socks with. He said that these did not rub or cause him any blisters.

Very comfortable shoes, just slip them on and you'll be ready for the lake or a trip to the grocery store.
