My title says it all, WOW! I have been trying to find a pair of shoes now for over two months. Because of a spinal cord injury I am very highly picky on buying a pair of shoes, I will buy many pairs of shoes just to return them soon after finding them not to my liking. My previous pair of shoes are also columbia's they are now two years old just about and though of course now worn they still are holding up nicely and have been comfortable since day one however I would like to mention that now after two years of use they do give me arch pain after standing all day just a little bit and more foot and back fatigue after so much use. I work at a gas station and move around a lot and I also work as a handy man so I am moving and on my feet for the better course of my day, I also like to hike and be out doors so I want a shoe that will be comfortable for all types of situations. I will likely wear out my old columbia's through the course of this year wearing them mainly for my handy man jobs and likely the whole time for a few months more to get the full use out of these shoes before I switch over fully to these shoes (cept for the handy man jobs older shoes are better don't want to ruin your good shoes)

Anyway moving on I have found that over all the shoes and boots I have worn over the years after discovering columbia I can't emagin a better shoe out there, every shoe before has been painful and either don't work right in the end or you have to wear them for months to get them "broken in" which i'm sure many of us have done at least once thus far in our lives. I have tried new balance, skechers, fila, timberwolf, redwing, wolverine and many other brands of shoes out there and as I said columbia beats them all, I tried on every single boot and shoe columbia had at gander mountain and as a warning for some reason the boots don't seem as good quality as the shoes I think that is because they are built more rugged and less flexable but for some reason the soles bugged my feet personally they had a strange arch to the outside of the foot opposite of your arch now this might not be the case for everyone but for me that was so. These shoes were the last pair I tried on and the moment I stood up in them I actually said "wow i'm in love" very comfortable and no pain, I didn't have to break them in and since day one they have been perfect, no pain at all. If anything I spent a half hour deciding what size I wanted. for me my average is anywhere from an 8 1/2 to a 10 pending on the brand of shoe. The 8 1/2 was a tad to tight on the top middle of my feet and after walking 20 minutes or so in both the 8 1/2 which is the size I have now with my old columbia I decided to go with a 9 that fit much better on my feet.

On to the outside of the shoe, these shoes are not a suede material which gets rather nasty after a lot of use and nothing you do can take out the stains and what not but instead they made it leather! They combined the amount of leather with mesh perfectly it has enough mesh to leave your feet cooler and getting a nice amount of air without the risk of getting them wet from a little bit of water, the leather is very soft and looks nice and will likely age well, when walking out to my car after a big rain storm a few days ago I stepped into a puddle that went almost past the shoe line and my feet stayed nearly fully dry which made me happy. The two things about the outside of the shoe that irks me a little is that columbia seems to make all their shoes with a nice rugged material covering the whole of the toe giving you more protection without the burden of having a heavy steel toe shoe or boot. I liked it because it made the shoe hold up better over all and saved my toes from more then one poke from something sharp thats for sure. However with these shoes they seemed to opt out of it and instead give you a rather hard leather in front which will likely work just as well but I don't know why they changed out of that as it was a good design, I don't like the rubber sole "lip" that extends out over the front of the shoe as those usually are the first things to go on that type of shoe but only time will tell, heck if you need to just super glue it right? And last the actual sole...its...new I guess I can say it looks just a bit weird and instead of big groves in the actual sole of the shoe like most shoes of this type go for they took a diffrent approach and instead the bottom has the groves jutting out instead, this worries me for over all use of the shoe i'm worried that they will wear out really quick but again only time will tell. Over all I am enjoying this pair of shoes and it was well worth the $100 I spent on them, treat your feet well and splurge on them and check out this shoe, I did and I am loving them and I can't see ever not wearing anything but columbia! Oh they look great to for casual wear in any jeans or kakies I get complements all the time on them :) I know this was long but there was no reviews because these shoes JUST came out so I hope I helped answer a few questions give them a check out in a gander mountain or some outdoors store that sells columbia, you won't regeret it :)

The construction quality is top notch. I can tell that the shoe is going to last for years. The heat insulation is also top notch. I wore this on cold winter days and it kept my feet toasty.

Unfortunately, it is quite uncomfortable. The tongue of the shoe moves around a lot and drives me crazy. In general the inside of the shoe is light on cushioning and I wear thick socks to make up for the lack thereof. Also the laces are made of that annoying nylon that comes undone every 20 minutes. Frustrating!

I really wanted to like this shoe but I have to say that I not a fan.

Very comfortable, easy to take off and on as there are no laces. The top rubber webbing does break off fairly easily (I caught one piece on something and it tore) but the shoes are still functional. These fit more easily in a suitcase than normal running shoes as they compress a little. They seem somewhat narrow (most Nike's run narrow I think) and they do run a little small so if you haven't tried them on I'd go for a 1/2 size up from your normal size.

I tried these shoes on at IMLP 2009 and liked them. I didn't like them as much as Newtons, which I also tried on, but these are about half as expensive.

They're lightweight and have relatively nothing but mesh in the upper. I have raced up to a half marathon in them and had good results.

They have a large toe box and are generally very wide (I have wide feet), except for one pinch point exactly where the foot ends and the toes begin. I solve this by leaving the bottom most shoe lace eyelets unlaced.

I typically wear size 12 but got these in 11.5 and they are the right size.

These are ideal if you are interested in trying out a "minimal" running shoe, but want at least some support. Have been using these for daily short (2-4 mile) runs, and weekly long (10-12 mile) runs, both in an urban setting, and on a cross country trail. The trail is the only place I've found the lack of tread to be a problem, with minor slippage. This hasn't bothered me, as these shoes were clearly not designed for trails. The minimal padding definitely helps cultivate better form.

I bought these to replace some thicker running shoes that were worn out. I'd heard good things about transitioning to a more minimalist shoe as far reducing back and knee pain goes, plus, they're a lot lighter. They took a good few miles to get used to, since they forced me to make some (positive) changes to my stride, but I found myself enjoying them much more than my old shoes. Come to think of it, they're also 1/3rd cheaper than my old shoes.

The big downside is that you're going to want to stick to flat surfaces. The sole isn't very forgiving if you're running through rocks of any kind, and it'll be uncomfortable for you.

Based on my experience with this product during past 18 months, I recommend this product to everybody, including my colleagues at work. This is a great product and makes my shoes and boots much more comfortable. It's really easy to use, and you WILL feel the difference right away.

I'm in the Army and I run about 15~20 miles a week. My normal run is minimum of 3 miles and goes up to 10 miles. I run different routes everyday of the week and some are on paved streets and some are on dirt trails. My running shoes are Asics GT-2090 and 2100. I have normal arches and never had a foot problem until about 4 years ago when I first had plantar fasciitis and pain at the bottom of my heel. At that time, I had to stop running for 3 ~ 4 months and get a custom made footbed/sole for my combat boots from a doctor. But I hesitated running longer distance since then, until I found this product early 2004. Before that, I've tried probably at least 10 different types from Dr. Scholes products to gel pads, etc.

This product forms to the shape of your feet. So, I use this exclusively, for my combat boots, my running shoes, and my hiking boots. Earlier this year, I consulted Army podiatrist and she basically told me that this is probably the best one I can use short of getting more custom made soles from the hospital. But compared to the custom made soles I had, I find this product more comfortable. It provides a very good support.

This is really easy to use. You simply have to heat it up in an oven to make it malleable, take it out and slip it in your shoes and stand on it with your weight evenly distributed for a couple of minutes. It's much faster than trying to go see a podiatrist and waiting and getting custom made soles.

Bottom line is that even though this costs about half as much as my running shoes, this is well worth it. Definitely recommended.

I am a physician during the day and an avid basketball player at night. I never use the stock insoles that come with my nike basketball shoes. They just won't cut it. The Sole inserts are the best non-prescription orthotic grade insoles your can buy over the counter (internet). These will mold to your feet after heating them in the oven for a few minutes. The arch supports and padding are fantastic. They add to your balance and help to align your back and prevent foot injuries. I have at least 10 pair of these and I love 'em. They are the best.

These soles did not work for me. They put the support in the wrong place. I followed the directions exactly and gave them every chance including walking in them a week and then backpacking with them for two days and 12 miles before changing back to the insoles that came with my boots. Here's the story.

I have always had a problem finding shoes with sufficient arch support (and toe box room). Recently I've started wearing Keen hiking shoes and they come very close to solving my shoe fit problems completely. The low tops are so comfortable that I now use them for everyday wear. However, their mid-rise hiking shoes felt too pronated. I was advised by the salesman (at REI) to try the Sole Softec insoles, so I did. I wear a 9 1/2 or a 10 depending on the shoe so I bought the men's 9 1/2 to 10 size insole and followed the instructions for heating and forming them in my boots exactly. Here's what I discovered.

I first trimmed the soles so that they fit in my shoes. I did this using the Keen insoles as a guide. That worked well. I put the soles into the boots before heating them to see how they felt I wanted to get a feel for how the heating and forming process changed the soles. The support hit me too far behind the arch on the inside of the heel. That was uncomfortable. I heated them according to the instructions, put them into my boots and stood in them for about five minutes. Nothing changed. At least I could not feel a change. So I wore them for two days to let my foot adjust. That didn't help, so I tried the heating process again. Again no detectable change or improvement. Nonetheless, I wore them for 3 more days with no improvement in comfort and again tried the heating process. The support was simply in the wrong place. I flew to Seattle and wore them walking around Seattle for a couple of days. I then went to Glacier National Park and wore them while carrying a pack on the Highline and Loop trail (fantastic hiking). The insoles retained the original problem the support was too far back on my foot it was not under my arch where I needed it it was under the inside of my heel. So I switched back to the Keen insoles and then hiked from Lake McDonald to Sperry Glacier and then out over Gunsight Pass, about 20 miles of rugged and spectacular terrain. My feet felt much better and the Softec soles won't be going back into my boots.

Obviously, they weren't so bad I couldn't walk in them, but I gave them more than enough chance to work and they made my feet hurt throughout the process due to the misplaced distribution of the support. I had hoped that the heat forming process would form the support to my foot. It did not and, in fact, I could not detect any customizing of the fit.

You can check my story for yourself. Just look at the heel in the Sole Softec insoles. You can see that the inside of the heel well right behind the arch is too high. It's not a rounded heel well. There is a visible bump where the inside/forward part of you heel will be and that won't come out as the result of their heat forming process.

Honest reviews on Sole Softec Response Custom Footbed

I bought these at a local retailer because they had nice stiff arch supports. I have pretty bad Plantar Fascitis and have to have a strong arch support. Unfortunately, the arches in these are too close to the heel for me, even after heating and shaping them per the directions. They pressed into the front part of my heel where I have the most pain from the PF and made it even worse. After wearing these all day, I was barely able to walk because of so much pain. I am sure these will work well for most people, and they seem sturdy and very well made, but they do not work at all for me. I would recommend the spenco orthodics over these.Spenco Arch-Orthotic Full Length Support for Athletic Shoes MenS 6-7/ WomenS 7-8, 1 Pr

I have been living with horrible plantar fasciitis for over a year now. I tried just about every insole I could get my hands on with no results. Being an Infantryman in the Army I come across a lot of gimmicks and plenty of people looking to take our money. One day I went into the clothing and sales on Fort Bliss and I saw a rack of these insoles with a clerk doing a bit of a demo. I read the directions and figured even I can't mess this up. A few minutes of trimming and a few minutes in the oven and in the boots they went. I have been pain free every day since. As I look back at all of the money I wasted on insoles, night splints and all of the time spent suffering with horrible pain, I honestly thought I would suffer for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for making a quality product that honestly saved my career and gave me life back.

Very comfortable, the Spira really does make a difference. Only comment is to make sure you order the next size up from what yo normally wear. I had previously purchased a pair of my size from a different place and found they hurt after wearing and walking for a considerable time. I ordered these as 11's rather that 10.5's and found them to fit perfect and even after a 10 hour day of walking, my feet felt great!

I am in love with these shoes. I work in a giant warehouse walking on an average of 20 miles per day in a 10 hour shift. In the last six months these are the third pair of shoes that I purchased specifically for this job and all the walking that I do on hard cement floors. The first pair were $100+ Nike Air and were comfortable for about two weeks when the hard floors seemed to just take their toll on them, new inserts didn't even seem to help and I basically felt I had wasted $100. I decided to shop around and not spend so much if good shoes weren't even going to survive all this walking. I purchased some $45 Filas and actually got a couple good months out of them alone and then even extended that with new inserts. I wanted to find something that didn't have the breakdown that these shoes had without spending an arm and a leg. After a short search it came between the GravityDefyer and these Spira's. At $65 I went with these. (some vendors had the exact same shoes for much much more) I have had them almost three months now and feel very little difference than when I first wore them. The insides are intact, a little wear but no material rips or breakage yet like the other shoes had after a much shorter period. They breath very well also. I totally recommend them for anyone who does a lot of walking or has back issues. I have had lower back surgery and all the walking would remind me of that everyday. These shoes have not eliminated that completely but have made it a non issue. I have only found one drawback in these shoes, because of the metal springs in them they do set off the metal detectors where I work so if you work in a secure facility or go to the airport a lot you may need to reconsider these. I do plan to purchase another pair when these do wear out.

Best Deals on Spira Men's Valencia Athletic Walking Shoe

Bought a second set of these after having the first for a short while because they fit well and were very comfortable for walking and playing. (Used one outside and one only for treadmill.) But the spring does not last. You'll find yourself adding cushion inserts after a while. After 6 mos, the life of the cushioning is pretty much exhausted and the shoe is no longer very comfortable and the front toe portion of the sole is starting to tear away from the shoes and you're suddenly back on Amazon looking for a replacement.

Honest reviews on Spira Men's Valencia Athletic Walking Shoe

all the claims the company has made about these shoes are true......

stand for 12 hours at work, mostly in the same spot, and am overweight, and my knees, ankles, and feet are not sore at all when wearing these, 3 weeks in now and not showing one bit of wear from usuage, thanks Spira for making these, will absolutely buy these again next time.....

They fit perfectly. My only complaint is they feel a little heavy when walking around. I have very bad feet and hoped the springs in the show would help with the impact. I didn't notice the difference until I wore my regular shoe. They do make a difference. They were not the miracle shoe I had hoped for as my feet are in still the same amount if pain. I think next time I would like to try the the Spira shoes with three springs in them.

I received my shoes today and thought Id try them out on a shopping trip. I absolutely loved them! They are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! I have had plantar facitis and also had surgery to have a facia release, so my ortho doc recommended wearing shoes with good shock value and arch support. If I wear anything else I am in a lot of pain. These shoes were just what I needed. Good support and like walking on a cloud! I did however order them a size bigger, and I am glad that I did. They fit great and give me a little toe room. My feet are very wide, and I found that these shoes in size D are just perfect. I am glad that I bought them and will definitely buy them again!

Best Deals on ASICS Women's GEL-Cumulus 15 Running Shoe

Regular Asics wearers, beware! In comparing this shoe with the same size and width of the Nimbus-15 and the Kayano-19, I found that I had to go half a size up in the Cumulus to get a comparable fit. I have been wearing Asics for years and have always worn the same size (9D), but this shoe is definitely short my toe practically hits the front. The 9-1/2, though, fits the same as the 9 in the other styles. And on first try it's a very comfortable shoe with ample cushioning and a nice heel cup so my heel doesn't slip.

This is the first pair I've ever owned that were comfortable from the first time of use. I went walking and my feet were supported and comfy! No pinched toes or sore feet at all! The design is quite nice to look at too in my humble opinion. I only wish there was a darker colored pair since I'm sure I'll get this white pair dirty in no time. I am very critical when it comes to shoes. I actually think I have a running shoe addiction; some (like my wife) would call it a problem. In the past 12 months I have tried a few shoes and the collection in my closet includes: Saucony Peregrine, Saucony Kinvara, Brooks Cascadia 7, Salomon xt wings 2, New Balance Trail 110 and Merrell Trail Gloves. Out of this bunch the Trail Gloves worked best, however I was struggling to find a shoe to take to the trails for my 20+ mile runs as the TG's were just a little too light for me. Enter the Mix Master 2's, referred to me by my chiropractor who is also an ultra runner.

As with the TG's, these shoes feel like they were made for me and my feet. They are snug where I want them to be (around the heel) while giving me the space I need around the toes. They feel just right and they are light...something that turns out to be very important to me. For example, a 50 mi run would take about 80,000 total strides, meaning each shoe is lifted 40,000 times. There are 32,000 ounces in a ton, etc. Makes sense that every ounce saved counts, a LOT.

These shoes also have good ventilation I've gotten them wet while running and they dry out quicker than anything I've owned to date and they appear to be durable (no issues so far and I know the first generation Mix Master was redesigned to eliminate some of the durability concerns).

They also look good and they make me feel fast.

Bottom-line, I have decided that I am now a Merrell running shoe fan for life. If you are looking for a lightweight shoe that will provide enough cushioning to cover the long distances or provide a little more protection while still giving you a neutral and close to the ground feel, these are the shoes for you.

One thing to point out, I had to go one full size down on these, so beware if you're buying online. And don't get suckered into buying your running shoes too large too large can injure you just as much as too small and, no, your feet will not swell 1/2 an inch in length, no matter how far you run...

I keep 2 pairs of trail running shoes. The first, my daily runner, is to be flat, highly flexible and with a very thin sole. The second pair is used for long (>20miles), rocky trails where I have found I require a bit more rock protection. I wore out a pair of NB MT101s in this second role, and needed a new pair of shoes for an upcoming race. The Mix Master II appeared to be a good fit, and I have logged ~200 miles in them now.

What I found:

My first run was sockless, with the inserts. ~5 miles with good rocky climbs/descents. The majority of my running prior to this was in Merrell Trailgloves, and I was shocked at how high off the ground I felt and how `cushy' the sole was. The 4mm drop was also strange to me, and I struggled a bit with some heel striking on the downhills. I quickly got over this, and now the shoe feels good underfoot, though I still have some issues with the stack height, I'm less steady on my feet with the extra height. Still, I was able to FLY downhill without fear of trashing my feet. And the soles gripped well going back up.

Now I have found that socks are necessary, but I removed the insert. I can feel the rocks underneath, but only that they are present. The whole shoe is a bit more flexible that the MT101, and rides nicely.

My only problems have been that the slight point to the toe of the shoe puts some pressure on my BIG TOES, which really only becomes an issue after 10 miles. At that point it starts becoming distracting, and heading toward mild pain. I don't think these will work well for me as very long distance shoes, but I have done 20 miles without issue. The more downhill in the run, the more an issue (and the 20 miles was the Shut In trail race, or all uphill.)

Also, I should point out that the cleats will grab mud and hold onto it. My second run in the shoes was through some of the sticky stuff, and the shoes were much heavier after the run.

The soles look good with only a little wear showing in my typical wear pattern. The upper is typical of Merrell, and I expect the shoes to last a long while.

I purchased these shoes the third week of March in 2013, and have never wore them for running, I have another pair of favorite shoes for that. These shoes are worn at the office (I know, casual....but hey the job pays well and I'm LUCKY!!!!) Given the shoes are less than month old and have been worn less than 2 dozen times I'd expect more.

At this time the left shoe has a frayed spot above the big toe joint. This happens because: the interior of the shoe contains a plastic mesh with holes all over. I suspect the holes over the joint allow the plastic mesh to crease and rub on itself when the foot flexes; causing the mesh to fray.

Not sure how to fix this, but way disappointed, guessing these shoes will be destined for the work bin sooner rather than later. I would NOT recommend these shoes as I question their durability, and I have purchased Merrell shoes in the past, so I trusted the brand.

Honest reviews on Merrell Men's Mix Master 2 Minimalist Running Shoe

I'm not a barefoot runner but have evolved into more of a minimalist. I was looking for a trail shoe to rotate with my New Balance MT101s and my Minimus MT10s. I wanted a shoe that would be comfortable for longer runs and for days my feet just needed a break. What I got in the Merrell Mix Master 2 was a shoe that could do it all. It's light enough for shorter, faster runs but protective and comfortable enough for the long haul. The ride is soft and forgiving for a shoe of this low profile but definitely not mushy. I can't say enough about the rounded toe box. It's roomy but not sloppy, especially for my pinkie toe that rubs in many other shoes. The lugs are aggressive enough for technical terrain, loose gravel or muddy conditions yet are still comfortable for hard packed dirt. The overall fit is snug enough to lock in your foot on uneven surfaces yet not restrictive. I would be comfortable using this shoe for any distance on the gnarliest of trails. I've already been using them on my favorite local trails but can't wait to get them on the single track Ice Age Trails nearby. Simply put, this is the best trail running shoe I've ever worn and I've tried many since I first discovered the Mudroc 290. The only modification I would like to see in future models is that the last be a tad wider at the arch for added support on longer runs. As far as the negative reviews below, they are referring to the original Mix Master which had problems with the upper but was quickly corrected and reissued as the Mix Master 2. Just compare the colors with the colors on the Merrell website to be sure you're getting the new version as some retailers are still selling the old model but that's no fault of Merrell. Great job Merrell. I hope this shoe is around for a long time.

These are excellent shoes. When I first thought of reviewing them I was going to give them a four-star rating (I'll come back to that), but after putting some more miles on them I've decided that I love them. Since these are the Mix Masters I thought I'd make sure to try them on as many surfaces as possible. I almost exclusively run technical trails but sometimes there is some pavement on the way to the trail head. Surfaces I've covered so far:

-Pavement

-Hard clay

-Sand

-Mud (both slick and sticky)

-Grass

-Stones (both rocks/boulders and loose skree)

-Soft loose soil (wooded trails)

-Water

-Loose leaf litter

Although these are specifically described as trail shoes, that's what I bought them for. I've run several miles over two separate trail systems. One is through a swampy flood plain that has a wide variety of slippery trail surfaces. The other is on bluffs above a different river and is composed of steep rocky climbs, descents and uneven trail surfaces. These shoes have been extremely comfortable and have held up well. The only surface that has given me issues is loose wet leaf litter. These aren't as aggressively treaded as some other shoes I've run in (specifically the New Balance Men's MT110 Trail Running Shoe)and the cleats aren't deep enough to penetrate the leaves and provide positive traction. That was why I originally though to give them a four. However, after putting several more miles in on some very severe terrain I've changed my mind. They've proven to be quite grippy and have impressed me quite a bit.

The toe box is very roomy which is great for me. My 2nd toe is longer than my big toe and this has caused me to injure my second toe with other shoes in the past--this hasn't been an issue with the Mix Masters.

The gussets keep sand and debris out of the shoe, and they shed water very well. Rocks underfoot haven't been an issue and I've thoroughly enjoyed them.

I'd recommend these for any type of outdoor running.

I LOVE these shoes. I looked them up on amazon specifically because my prior pair of the same shoe were ready to retire. My first pair lasted me 3 years, wearing at least 4 times a week (and one month long trip walking everyday through Europe!). My second pair has been going strong for a year, and look like they have at least another in them. I also wear these as a waitress for 8+ hour shifts on my feet, and they are the comfiest while having enough grip and support to keep me from falling on the slippery floor in the kitchen. They aren't too bulky, so people don't look at you and think "Running shoes!!" I wear them with Jeans, sweatpants, and yogas and they look normal with all of them. I wouldn't recommend them for actual workout running or long term sports wear--but they've served me well in the casual volleyball, basketball, and football games with friends. I also wear an arch support insert with them that supports the heal as well. Supports fit well in the shoe, there's lots of room. They have great support, but the $10 support really makes the shoe an easy wear. I also have EXTREMELY NARROW feet, and these shoes hug them perfectly. If you have fat feet, you will not fit in this shoe well.

Note--they are made mostly of mesh. So they are light and easy to wear, but if you live in Seattle like I do, you will need to put something else on for those very rainy days or your feet will get wet. Moderately rainy days they are fine, its just the big puddles that are a problem. Plus side of that is they dry fast and retain heat well, even if you do get wet.

I got these for a camp/backpacking shoe, and they are amazing! Super lightweight and comfortable. I use to carry a lightweight pair of flip flops and five fingers for stream crossings and lake swimming, but have since switched over to just these. They are lighter than my flip flops and amazingly versatile. They do run a bit big though, and I actually had to order the next size down from my standard Euro size.

These shoes provide a completely new approach to running. I'm told that this is a throwback to the

natural way that feet are supposed to work. I have had two knee surgerys and two hip replacements

and running was something I had given up on. I purchased these shoes simply as watershoes and planned

to walk on the beach. After a few times everything worked so well that I began to push the envelope,

today I ran 3miles in a 35 minutes, I'm still cautious but being able to run at all is progress. The

change in gait from heel to forefoot seems to put the shock on other areas and allows me to run with

no knee swelling and no hip pain. I've still only logged 35 miles but am really happy with the results

thus far.

I purchased a pair of the Vivobarefoot Men's Ultra Shoe in Black several months ago in Washington, DC. It was not the "Pure" model. The difference in the "Men's Ultra" model and the "Men's Ultra Pure" model is the Pure model does not include the mesh inner liner. It is the outer shell only. However both shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I find the wider toe cage extremely comfortable, and it helps that the inner mesh liner is compatible with any of the Vivobarefoot Ultra Pure Shoes. I highly recommend this shoe for casual wear. You will not regret the purchase of this shoe...

I used these shoes with regular socks on the Appalachian Trail up to Blood Mountain in Georgia for a two day, twelve mile camping trip in mist and light rain. I usually wear tennis or light hiking boots. Wow these shoes were great on the trail. You feel rocks/tree roots a little more the in the Vivobarefoot's than in tennis shoes or hiking boots, but their very low weight, good overall arch support and flexibility make these my favorite hiking shoe. I'm 55 and not a trail runner, but I will use these shoes in the future whenever I am out hiking in the woods.
