I bought these shoes and have put about 500km on them. Being my first pair of somewhat "minimalist" shoes I was at first worried about giving up the extra shock absorbtion in the heel of my current runners. I did notice an immediate difference in how "hard" my foot tended to strike the ground on my first couple of runs, but I believe that these shoes encouraged my natural running posture to adapt, work myself away from heel striking, resulting in an overall more efficient stride in the long term. There was also a noticable weight difference and it's hard to go back to my old shoes now. They are also quite breathable if you tend to run in hot weather.

My only complaint is that if you run on gravel paths at all, the design of the sole tends to collect a lot of rocks so when you switch back and forth from gravel to pavement it can be annoying to get the rocks out.

I am really ecstatic about this running shoe. In fact, i bought a another one in a different color. Some people find it otherwise, but i guess the choice of shoes is very personal. I went to a local Nike Store and wore this exact shoe before buying it at a discounted rate in Amazon. Get a one size higher than your usual shoe size.

It is now January 6, 2013. I bought these in June 2012. I wear the heck out of these shoes and they've felt great since the first day. I wear them day to day, but I also run in them. The soles are starting to wear a little bit, but they are still super comfortable.

It might be the shoe when I run, but when I run passed the 10 mile mark, I start to feel pinching near the ball of my foot. That's the only real complaint I have.

This is the 2nd generation of free's I've had and I will probably get another set of free's after I am done with these.

I've been running for 35 years, almost all with nike. I tried others in the beginning but always went back to nike for a comfortable but rugged shoe. For some reason sports authority has mostly dropped nike. I don't like the prices of the others. So, I turned to the internet and for the first time ordered shoes without being able to try them on first. These shoes were about $20 cheaper than all the other comparable shoes. I was very disappointed when they came in. THey fit well but were uncomfortable, too stiff, inflexible. Worst, the foot liner was cheap with no cushion. It felt almost like running on a hard surface with no shoes. I went to sports authority and paid $20 for liners that I got in the past in nike shoes. That resolved the cushion problem but they are still stiff and inflexible. The worst nike shoe I have ever experienced and I've been through a lot of them. Since 1976 I have run somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 miles so I know shoes. These are sub par for nike.

Great shoes, I ordered them a size to large. I used a shoe sizer and it said if I wore a 6 in the Nike Dual Fusion then I would wear a 7 in the New Balance. Well that is not the case. I will be exchanging them for a size six.

I'm flat footed with small wide feet, I only stand 4'11". When I started running a year ago my feet just killed me. My focus on running was how my feet hurt, so many issues. I purchased about 5 different pairs of running shoes and when I thought I was at my wits end, that nothing would work for me I found Sketchers go run ride. Who would have thought, Sketchers as a running shoe. I've purchased Brooks, Nike,etc in the past year.Spent $170 on a pair of running shoes and these are what works for me! Ever since I began wearing these shoes I have never even thought about me feet when running. This is now my third pair (hoarding, in the event Sketchers stop making them) as I don't think I'll ever find my perfect running shoe match, lol.

I didn't see a whole lot of reviews on here so I took a chance when ordering. I'm a first time runner trying to get in shape and I bought these Nike's, a pair of Merrell's Barefoot and Puma's in the same order. The other shoes are cool, BUT THESE ARE THE ISH! They are good for training and running. Lightweight, fexable and still gives you great support. Perfect for those who train at dead lifting, barbell squatting and even light kickboxing. 2 thumbs up for sure! And, all the haters at the gym had that "Daaaaang, I can see her shoes from the car" look on their faces. They are super chic!

Bought these because my wife had a pair of Adidas ClimaCool's she really liked. Like other reviews have noted, the shoe runs small. For me I, I ordered the next full size up and they fit perfect. They also loosen up after they have been worked in. Being ClimaWarm, I was afraid my feet would get too hot while running, but they breath very well and always feel just right.

They are comfortable, flexible, have great traction and support. The style is also a plus.

I would definitely recommend this shoe, just remember to order the next full-size up.

Cheap Salomon Women's XR Crossmax 2 Trail Running Shoe

I purchased the Women's Salomon XR Crossmax (1) last year and loved them! They shipped super fast and was very excited to jump in and "break" them in. I will say right away they felt lighter than the Crossmax (1). They may appear "bulky" looking, but they make my feet feel light as a feather when I run. I know there are others out there that are a lot lighter, but I won't compromise support over weight.

The Crossmax (1) were great in most aspects, but the heel cup wasn't holding my heels as well as I would've liked, and the support for my arches also needed a little bit more, so I had to put some inserts in my shoes. I have an average arch, but narrow feet and heels. In the Crossmax (2), I didn't put the inserts in my shoes and thought I would give them a try right out of the box. I went for a 5 mile run that included some road running, running on dirt, and trails that had rocks and sand, and they didn't fail me in any way. I was truly trying them out in every way I could to compare them to the Crossmax (1). The toe box is nice and roomy so my toes can "spread" out. No rubbing on my toes like running shoes I've had in the past. When I purchased my first pair of Salomons, I will say that the wider toe box was a little hard to get used to, probably because for so many years I was wearing the wrong type of shoe for me. I have completed everything from 5K's, Triathlons, to half marathons in these shoes, and my feet always feel great! No blisters, no rubbing, just happy feet!

I ordered the same size I usually wear, a size 9. I do have narrow feet and heels like I mentioned before, but I didn't want to compromise the nice open feel of the toe box. I'm very happy with these shoes and feel now they have all the right support in all the right spots and then some. We are all made differently, but hopefully my review can help those that have similar feet. The quick lace up and pocket for the laces is really nice too!

Sorry for the lengthy review, but I really have to give these shoes a 5/5!! I'm so happy that Salomon decided to make a shoe that works well from door to trail!

This shoe does fit normally for your shoe size, but seems to be wider than other Salomons I have worn. I am a typical XR Crossmax wearer and expected that the Crossmax 2 would be built the same way. So, I was surprised that I had so much room in the toe box. For me, having that much room is problematic. I tend to start sliding inside my shoe. I had a hard time finding the XR Crossmax shoe,so I am assuming that this is the "new" one....

Salomon XR Crossmax--may they never stop making this shoe. This is my second pair. I may have to hoard several of these in case they stop production. Combined with a Superfeet insole this shoe has me out and about again. After a nagging ankle tendon injury these are a relief to run in. The stock insole is okay but I need more arch support than the average shoe provides anyway. These shoes have great cushioning without feeling "dead" like some shoes do from having too much cushioning. Breathable flexible mesh forefoot and the Salomon speedlacing system are excellent. The perfect trail runner for me.

According to Salomon's review, I have exactly the profile recommended for these shoes: high mileage trail runner that needs door to trail versatility. I live nearby lots of interesting trails but necessarily have got to do some road running to reach them. This distance varies from 1,5K to 12K and recently they become a problem since I developed a slight fascitis.

All my favorite trail shoes don't have the cushioning I need even for these few road km.

I tried the Crossmax 2 first in a 10K road run and though felt them a little bit "heavy" I got really surprised by the comfort they brought to plantar surfaces. Some days later, used them for a long weekend run that lasted 4,5 hours , most part in trails but also including 8km of road running. Loved!! Firm grip and balance on trail surfaces and nice sensation on the road.

I usually wear size 7,5 ( half number bigger than my regular size)for both road and trail running shoes cause I do long distance running and it fits comfortably till the end of the races.

I wore these shoes once so far.

Right out of the box, they looked bizarre. On the foot and walking around, they look okay.

But the point is, they are stability shoes with an arch, and they have it. Therefore, they are quite comfortable and that makes up for the minor flaws.

Two minor flaws though. My toes feel squished, and the whole shoe constricted my circulation a little bit while sitting down. The circulation constriction is probably fixable I just haven't loosened the laces yet! The other flaw is that you'll experience abrasion on your heel if you wear ankle socks. I've experienced both these problems with other shoes so i'm a bit more tolerable of it...

For $40, an excellent shoe.

I bought these for Zumba as I had been wearing my Nikes' Musica for over 3 years. The little 'sweet spot' on the bottom has now worn down and I don't have as much traction, and too much slip and slide. These looked stylish, 'slender' and not clunky like the Nike's; but the fit doesn't feel as sturdy. The arch is odd and does not give me security (I have high arches). No problem with narrowing and the size 9 is the right size (Nike I had to go up a size). An odd thing: the laces feel like ribbons, and not cotton laces we know to be on sneakers. They are less expensive than the Nikes, so maybe that is why I feel they are inferior. Wish there was another Zumba sneaker, though. I will return them and get another pair of the clutsy Nikes! Sigh!

I bought these shoes for Zumba so they only really get worn a few times a week. I was a little disappointed when they first arrived. The leather is very stiff so I knew it would take a while to break them in. They are also rather narrow and don't have much of an arch. Plus the laces are kinda cheap, I'm always afraid to tighten them up too much because I'm scared the lace will break! On the plus side, they are very light which is to be expected from a dance shoe. They are now starting to break in and get a little more comfortable, but I don't think I would recommend them or buy them again if needed.
