This is the first pair of spikes I've purchased specifically for triple jump. I've worn them a few times now and they seem to have pretty good padding in the heel, and the spike plate feels pretty substantial. They're pricey, but I couldn't find anything from a brand as good as ASICS for cheaper. Would recommend.

ECCO Men's Ultra Trail Running Shoe Reviews
Like all Ecco shoes, these fit my feet perfectly. I ordered the Trail Shoes because I walk 5 miles every day, over hill and dale, gravel, concrete, uneven pavement... I need a good quality shoe with plenty of support; I weigh 265 lbs and I'm hard on shoes. I think Trail Shoes are designed to better handle abuse than, say, your average pair of sneakers or running shoes. I put over 500 hard miles on my last pair before finally wearing the heels down. I like everything about this new pair. They feel good and are very comfortable as I walk. They breathe well, look casual nice, and hopefully will last as long as my previous pair.

Discount ASICS Women's Gel-Excite Running Shoe
I use these for running on pavement 15-25 miles per week. Purchased 2 weeks ago and have used them for 10 runs at 4.5-5.5 miles each. I always use Asics Gel and look for a shoe on the low priced end for budget reasons and also I consider them to be as comfy and performance appropriate as the expensive Asics (as I have used the pricy sneakers as well). The excite fits all expectations. All Asics gels are considered to be "heavy" for a running show but the comfort and support provided is well worth the few added ounces in weight. I would happily but this shoe again. Also, as I've found with all my Asics gels, there is no "breaking in" period...feel perfect the first run!

I use these with the shimano multi-release cleat and shimano pedals on a road bike. I've found these to be quite comfortable on and off the bike (that is relatively comfortable off the bike given they have an appropriately stiff sole for energy transfer to the pedals). I was looking for a SPD shoe that was less bulky than most mountain bike shoes, but more of a "shoe bottom" than most of the road bike shoes offer. These fit the bill. Laced up snugly, the HRS system secures the heel in place for hours of happy peddling. I wear a 10 1/2 US shoe size and the size 45 fit fine (similar sizing to other LG shoes I have owned). These shoes are super heavy, they are not nearly as streamlined and trim as they appear on the website. They are bulky and chunky in appearance. They feel like they'd be suitable for construction work. Yuck. They're definitely going back.

I have become a "Minimalist" when it comes to running shoes. Even before reading "Born to Run" (by Doug McDougall) I've been running exclusively in racing flats. After reading the book, I had to try out the Vibram five-fingers, but they just didn't work for me (I have a crooked little toe from an old poorly-healed fracture, and the five-fingers wanted to force this a direction it didn't want to go). I still wanted a lightweight shoe; roomy enough to leave my toe alone. For me, this has narrowed down to the Asics Hyperspeed 4.
Advantages: Extremely lightweight. Thin sole. Low cost (usually less than $70. A huge relief over the $130 shoes I used to buy). Even the design and trim look leaner and less cluttered than its predecessor, the Hyperspeed 3.
Disadvantages: Perhaps no surprise, but they wear out quickly. Having said this, I can usually eke out 250 miles or more per pair. But when they wear out, they really disintigrate in a hurry. Another problem is that the "holes" in the uniquely designed sole (which helps them to be lightweight) seem to suck up tiny little pebbles. So far, my only solution to this is to select my running routes carefully.
I have run two half-marathons withe these, with no problems. And this includes all my training as well.
Pros
Excellent mid/forefoot cushioning despite weighing only 6 oz.
Uppers are airy/flexible while still providing support
Shoes allow for drainage through vents in outsole
Very inexpensive compared to racing flats of the same caliber
Cons
Low durability (I'm replacing them every 125-150 miles)
Outsole can pick up pebbles in drainage holes
Other notes:
Toebox is a bit wider than Nike, but on the medium/narrow side
Not a great shoe to wear after any rain, or on dewy offroad courses since water comes in through outsole
Definitely NOT a stability shoe.
I took out the shoes inserts and they fit better so I'd say they run a half size small. The waffle design on the bottom, although contributing to the lighter weight, is a bad design that lets rocks and dirt travel up into the bottom of the shoe as another reviewer pointed out. After the 1/2 marathon, my socks were black with road dirt. If you keep the inserts in however, it shouldn't be a problem.

I've already gone through three pairs of Hyperspeeds and about to purchase a 4th. I use these for any speed work, triathlon run legs (up to 13.1mi) and road races from 10k-half marathon and couldn't be happier with their performance. While the outsoles tend to wear down faster than I like, and they aren't the lightest racing flats around, these shoes just have something special that keeps me coming back.Pros

I have run several marathons in these shoes and for the price they can't be beat! These shoes are light, fast and inexpensive. Lots of room in the toe box area and just enough cushion to run a marathon. I use these shoes for all my speed work, tempo runs and races. Other shoes comparably built are $30-$40 more and I have fould these shoes usually in the $60-$75 range. Ok, all you minimalist, Born to Run enthusiasts, if you are thinking of getting this shoe, for the price, my recommendation is a cautious yes. I've purchased 2 pairs and they are light weight and fairly durable. I've run a 5K, 10K and 1/2 marathon in these and they've held up ok. I use these for the treadmill as well and they are perfect for that. I wanted to get the Mizuno Wave but I got 2 pairs instead for the price of one set of those.I took out the shoes inserts and they fit better so I'd say they run a half size small. The waffle design on the bottom, although contributing to the lighter weight, is a bad design that lets rocks and dirt travel up into the bottom of the shoe as another reviewer pointed out. After the 1/2 marathon, my socks were black with road dirt. If you keep the inserts in however, it shouldn't be a problem.

I am primarily a Brooks runner, I thought i would try these though. its not a 0 drop shoe. i thought it would be close enough to not be able to tell. I was wrong. I ran 50 miles in these before i ran a half marathon and i got the most wicked blisters in these. my feet get extremely hot in these...not good. i dont recommend these to anybody with serious mileage. maybe for 5k and less. for more mileage i would recommend something else.

My husband loves the fit of Keen shoes--he has a very high instep and very wide feet, and Keen shoes seem customized for him. I'm a picky shoe buyer and these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I have a wider foot, size 13, and these fit like a glove. The first night I wore them I didn't want to take them off when I got home! The color is perfect, not quite black more of a dark brown a little darker than the picture. It's really nice to have a shoe that's comfortable like a Keen, but not quite as clunky-looking as most Keens. This fits the bill. The last is a little wide for me, but I use a big insole, and the toebox is roomy. Maybe a little too heavy, but overall it's very comfortable, and it's waterproof, yet I can wear it to places that I could never wear a boot or hiking shoe with that big rubber toe cap.

I purchase these figuring that I could save a few bucks...that I did, however, I could have used about a dozen more clamps! The soles are very stiff and will not conform to the toe end unless clamped and held in place for about 8 hours. Also, they were not large enough for the width of the shoe but were too wide for the toe...how long they will last is still in question.

I took a chance on this product and blame only myself for buying it. Needing a sole replacement I thought it would be a kit and I could cut it out and glue it into place. How wrong I was. This would be ideal for a size 12 or higher shoe, BUT there's no way to adhere the replacements: no glue, no peel and stick, no nails, nothing. Just over sized hard rubber size 12+ sole. I am not new to shoe repair materials, i've even protected new shoes with this method even before i wore them , to make sure the original materials and stitching are preserved before wear and tear take its toll. There is nothing better than an original , good quality shoe, sandal ,or any type of footwear with its original built. However to achieve your goal a certain amount of skill is needed. Some basic tools, such as a sharp knife or boxcutter, a Dremel tool with a coarse sanding drum ,or a belt sander will make your proyect easier to complete. Qood quality contact cement, applied at least twice after dry, should do the trick for a permanent bond. Kahtoola MICROspikes Traction System Reviews
Like the spikes. Work as described. Got fooled by the sizing chart and ordered a size too large, based on using with my snow boots. Order for your exact shoe size or smaller.
The first time I ran with them, all was well because there was a some fresh snow. But when I was running on icy surfaces (which these were designed for given the huge spikes), I was motoring along in blissful ignorance until I headed downhill heel-first. My leg shot out from under me since no metal came in contact with the ice. It scared me to death!
If you look at the pic here, you will easily see the dangerous hole in coverage.
To avoid slipping, I had to run downhill landing either flatfooted or on my toes to make sure I stick to the ground. Frightening.
I plan on modifying my kahtoolas with an extra wire pulling the chains closer together base of the heel like what was done at the toe.
I cannot believe that this hole in coverage was not addressed earlier. Unless of course, the primary users/designers don't really run on icy mountains but rather on flat crusty trails. Yet, given the huge spikes and aggressive appearance, it's too bad that the heel is so unprotected given that almost every step downhill lands on or near the heel. Oh, but uphill, these things scream.
But looking at the picture of the spikes while I write this, I wonder if I put them on backwards it would help since the extra wire connector at the toe was likely a fix from lack of coverage on that end of the shoe.
A good purchase I think.

I am an active hiker, and hike leader for outdoors organizations and I have owned the three major products for winter traction: Yaktrax, Stabilicers, and Microspikes. It seems that many people turn up on hikes with Yaktrax more than any other product because it seems to be more prominently displayed at stores that sell outdoors equipment. I recommend the Yaktrax if you have an occasional need for low-cost traction, such as walking down an icy driveway to get your mail. Yaktrax are poorly designed; basically it's a giant rubber band with a coiled spring around it. They slide around on your boot and I have seen people have theirs peel off in snow and not even realize it. I had one of the rubber bands snap after not that much use, rendering the product useless. People who bought Yaktrax Pro with the strap seem to have better luck. The rubber is more robust and the strap keeps the Yaktrax from sliding around or sliding off. I also own Stabilicers (the version with the strap over the boot) and have mixed feelings about them. Stabil-Icers have steel screws on the bottom, which provide amazing traction, far better than the Yaktrax, but I have wear issues with them as well. My Stabilicers lose screws on a regular basis, which is a safety hazard because you think you have traction, but you really don't. When I contacted Stabilicer about the issue, their response was, "Maybe it's time for a new pair." Mine did not have that much use on them, so that answer was unacceptable. I tried various glues to keep the screws in place, but none worked. The other disadvantage of Stabilicers (in the model that I have) is that they are heavy to carry in a pack when you don't really need them. Instead, I now use my Microspikes, which have excellent traction, and have worn well so far, but I do have concerns about the durability of the rubber where it holds the metal spikes. Microspikes are light, so they are easily carried in a backpack when you don't need them, but might encounter conditions on the trail where you do need them. With any of these traction devices, don't be put off by the cost. These are a great addition for hiking in the winter. They hold up much better than the Yaks when it comes to hiking and running. I've been through two pairs of those because they break with heavy use. These are very easy to put on and give you great traction on ice and snow. I like to trail run and they work fine. Because they are much more aggressive in traction they aren't forgiving when you plant your foot. In other words your footing sticks and does not give at all. So, you do have to be careful and pick up your feet when walking. They aren't forgiving if you drag your feet at all. These wouldn't be my pick for regular walking around in light snow and ice because they would be over kill. The Yaks would still be my choice for taking the dog for a walk in the neighborhood, etc. Although you can run in these I tend to feel them more than the Yaks. They hurt a little bit vs. the Yaks don't when you run. But, I'd rather have these if I am hiking up a mountain trail in ice and snow. The price is pretty much the same everywhere, so that isn't an issue here. I havn't had any problems with them coming off. They have stayed on well for me so far.A good purchase I think.

Just got these in the mail, test rode them for 30 mins. They feel great. Easy to walk in, fairly stiff. I ordered one size up, I wear size 10 in pretty much any kind of shoe and 44 in road shoes but 45 in these and they fit perfectly.
Note I suspect these are summer only shoes since I can actually feel the air coming thru the entire top toe surface area. Great ventilation but would be cold feet in low temps.
I really like them and would recommend if you have that perfect size foot. Great looking shoe and seem well made at this point.

The shoe is nice and the quaility is top notch. When they arrived, I tried them on with a pair of jeans and they actually look like everyday shoes you can wear. My teenage boys who are really into basketball shoes think they look great. My advice would be to listen to everyone that has given warnings about the EU shoe size differences. I normally wear at size 13 so I ordered a size 49 which is supposed to translate into a size 14. Well, the 49 barely fits me. I mean my toe is right at the top of the shoe. I like my athletic shoes to fit a little snug so I didn't send them back. Be sure to order 1 to 1.5 size large than what you wear in US. I was looking for a shoe for use on my mountain bike that would also work on my road bike, and I think I've found a good match with this shoe. The upper seemed rigid at first, but once I took it for a ride, they worked out well and offered all the necessary protection and traction that I desired, without any discomfort. I loved the lace garage and had no worries about the laces interfering with the chain. I installed SPD cleats and the installation was fast and easy. I also appreciated that the cleat is recessed just enough that you don't notice it very much (if at all) when walking off the bike. It would be nice to see the shoe offered in other colors, but this is neutral enough for my needs. Quality seems awesome and I think they would be really comfortable, if they came in my size. I typically wear a 9.5 or 10 so I got the 44's to start. My toes were at the end so I returned them for a size up (45) which convert to a US 11 and they're too big! I guess I'm some size in the middle, lucky me. They'll be OK since I can lace them snug but wish they were perfect cuz they're awesome every other way.Note I suspect these are summer only shoes since I can actually feel the air coming thru the entire top toe surface area. Great ventilation but would be cold feet in low temps.
I really like them and would recommend if you have that perfect size foot. Great looking shoe and seem well made at this point.
