I bought these shoes after having tried several other brands. I tried many because of a persistent plantar fasciitis. I made a modification to the insole and added my aetrex insoles instead of the ones that came with the shoe. The result has been amazing. I now regularly run three times per week with my short runs of anything between 3 and 5 miles and longs of up to 10 miles. So far no injuries (as in none, zip, and zero) in one year with these shoes. They are really durable with no big wear so far. Granted I only use them for running; but I have put the miles with them. Highly recommend them!Best Deals on Altra Men's Provision Running Shoe
These shoes are awesome! I've been running and playing sports for over 20 years, and at 32 years old I decided to try out the "minimalist" style of running. I initially purchased a pair of new balance minimus shoes that fell apart under my feet within a month... truly disappointed. I thought that maybe it was my style of running or that I was misinterpreting what the shoes were made to do. So I went back to my traditional pair of Asics.Luckily, I caught a commercial for the Altra brand of shoes on ESPN. Immediately I hopped on Amazon to read reviews and possibly give them a shot... needless to say, I rolled the dice and bought these bad boys. What a pleasant surprise!!!! I've been running 3-5 miles with these from the day I got them, and running has become THE favorite part of my workouts. From here, I'll just list the pros and cons..
*PROS*
High quality materials.. soles, fabric, even laces are durable.
Zero drop.. gives it a barefoot feel without feeling gravel, roots, etc.
Comfort.. like wearing a pair of flip flops.. that don't flip or flop
Style.. these puppies look cool.. I've had plenty of people ask me where I got them.
*CONS*
Size.. I'm listing this as a con only to warn you about how snug these fit. I wear a size 10, so I bought a size 10. When I first put these on my big toe was touching the toe of the shoes. I was a bit concerned with this, but after wearing them and walking around in them for ONE whole day, I think they stretched a little and now they are perfect. Me being me, I didn't think the "buy a 1/2 size larger" applied since I'm a true 10, but I prefer my running shoes to fit without an extra 1/2 to 3/4 inch.
Yep, only one "kinda" con, and that is more of a warning about sizing. So believe it, these shoes are the real deal. Buy em and be a happy runner!!!!
