This is the updated version of New Balance's 10v1 Minimalist shoes. Note that they also updated their 20v1 line (to the 20v2) the 10 vs 20 does *not* mean anything other than a slightly different design (mostly of the tongue) the 20 isn't necessarily better than the 10, or vice versa. I personally prefer the 10's design, though, and in general the 10 seems to be far more popular.

In the 10v2 design, they changed the strap that goes over the top of the foot to relieve stress on the shoe that caused it to bend a bit weird in the 10v1. So far, these are extremely comfortable. I'm wearing them to work, just to get used to them. The all-black version can be paired with jeans, etc., and you won't look like a crazy person.

Note that these are minimalist shoes. If you aren't familiar with what that means, make sure you read about it before ordering! Running with these if you don't know exactly what minimalist running is, and how to do it, could lead to injury.

These showed up in the mail today and already put 6 miles in them, 3.2 on rocky/roots/muddy trail and the rest on sidewalk. I have owned three pair of NB minimalist shoes and these are the top of the pack. I loved my NB 730's and had over 200miles of trail on them, but 6 miles in these felt like 1 mile. For the first run in these to be an average of 7min per mile these felt like I was running on clouds. Hate to admit it but I felt like a "ninja/Indian" in these bad boys!

The shoes are comfortable, but the tow rubber came unglued after just 1 week of moderate use. I expected a much higher quality shoe for the $100 sticker price. I'll try to reglue it with shoe glue, but I dont think I'll be buying another pair of the V2s.

Honest reviews on New Balance Men's MT10BS2 Minimus Trail Running Shoe

After dealing with running pains (ankle, knees, back, etc.) since joining the Army, I finally got the notion that maybe there might something to the minimalist shoe concept. I used the input from a long distance running battle buddy in my unit to decide on this pair of shoes. Trail shoes made sense for the rocky terrain that is here in Afghanistan.

Out of the box, the shoes fit well, and I did not really require any breaking in of any kind. Everything seemed intact and ready to wear. I did however went off of the recommendations of a few other feedback posts on here that I might be want to go a half size higher then my regular shoes. I have plenty of space in my shoe, almost too much. But it does not casue any comfort issues though.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are new to this shoe type, please read up on running techniques and a muscle buildup schedule to let your legs get used to the shoes. I ran about 1.5 miles the first day and my calve muscles were mildly sore the next two days. I did some running in my Crossfit class, no issues, and then I decided to run a 5k with my unit. About 3/4 of the way through my lower calf muscles were noticably sore. My legs were considerably sore for the next couple of days.

My two concern is that some of the reviews stated some issues with the treads coming apart after two months. I have been wearing the shoes for about 2 weeks and have inspected daily with no issues thus far.

These shoes amazing, my first pair of minimalist type shoes and i use them everyday, running an average of 2 miles a day. They are very light but still have a lot of protection from crap on the roads on trail. They are a good bit cheaper here on amazon as well.
