I really liked these shoes they vented so well and felt lightweight. They have thick cushioning on the heel and and feel agile and less cushioned in the front where they bend very well because of the shape of the sole. Now on to my personal experience.

The problem with these shoes is while jogging around in some grass you step in something and you look down and think, oh no what is that? ... I just stepped in a dog turd. That's ok I'll just wash it off. Then you realize that while the vents on the bottom of the shoes are nice and keep your feet cool, they also have a dual purpose of acting like a play-doh fun factory to anything you step on.

Now you got a real disaster on your hands. These shoes can go from a 5 star rating to -5 stars in the blink of an eye and you are left crying and holding one shoe and a wet stained sock and walking around town trying to get a ride but the bus driver says you stink and kicks you off after 2 blocks. After awhile of this you get tired and go to sleep in some bushes near a bus stop. Awakened by police you try to explain the story about your shoe, which was stolen while you slept and nobody believes you and you have to spend the night in the mental hostpital.

Next time I would buy a different shoe because I prefer no holes in the bottom, but I think overall it was a decent experience and I learned a lot about life that day. 3 stars. For those interested in taking risks while jogging, this is your shoe of choice.

I was initially leery of the holes in the bottom, wondering if they made the shoe prone to falling apart. I was also skeptical about the durability of such a lightweight shoe. After a few months of nearly everyday use I have found these shoes to be very durable and incredibly comfortable. A rare combination for a shoe. I decided to order a couple more pairs since Adidas is like most athletic shoe companies, who change their shoe design on what seems to be a weekly basis.

My review does NOT include using these as actual "running" shoes, as I have other shoes that I wear to the gym or to go on a run. These were bought primarily because I liked the looks of them and the intent was for them to just be a "casual" shoe, so I really had no expectations "performance"-wise.

However, we recently went to Chicago on vacation where between getting to train stations, bus stops, going to museums, baseball games, Navy Pier, etc., we did A LOT of walking, easily 5 miles/day. I'm usually the type that doesn't pay much attention to the type of shoes I'm wearing, I just throw some on and go. And since we were wanting to avoid checking any bags, these shoes and a pair of flip-flops were all I brought, so I ended up wearing these on all our excursions. Well, these shoes performed AWESOME in that role.

They're so light it really almost felt like I didn't have any shoes on at all, and the vented mesh really did allow air to flow through and help keep things cool...now I could see if you were running through some water or wet grass where the mesh could be a problem, but it's not something I encountered so can't really speak to that aspect of these shoes.

As for fit, they are very comfortable around my foot and under sole/heel...I like that I can tie them nice and tight, and they will only feel snug as there's some "give" in the fabric, not that cut-off-your-circulation feeling you get with some shoes. And never thought I'd actually have to give consideration to SHOELACES, but after a few years of my North Face Hedgehogs it is worth mentioning. I don't get it, the Hedgehogs are some really rugged shoes that I love...BUT, the laces frequently come loose/untied. I hate having to double-knot, and even when I do they will still at times manage to come loose. But not with these Aerates, a single firm knot and that's it until you decide to untie them.

And while I couldn't care less if other people like my shoes or not, I have received multiple compliments on the color/style. Including the great price through Amazon ($56 and 2-day Prime shipping), extremely happy with this purchase.
