Originally purchased this shoe because of Montrail's reputation -later found out that the company had been sold to Columbia. Nevertheless, the Sabino Trail is a solidly made trail shoe -I use it, not to run, but as an all-around walking shoe able to withstand variety of surfaces and weather conditions. Note that it appears to run true to size. With running shoes with narrow forefooting, I normally size up a whole size to also account for foot swelling during running, but I found that unnecessary with the Sabino -it has a very generous forefoot. Overall, good value for price.

I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2010. I hiked from Vermont to Katahdin in these shoes. My only regret is that I didn't start with them in Georgia. They're not waterproof, they're not insulated, but they're wide so they're perfect for a long distance hiker. These shoes will be on my feet when I start my PCT hike next year.

I wore these out of the box for my 2012 JMT hike. Hiked 220 miles (15-18 miles a day) with about 17-30lbs on my back(depending on how much food and water I had in my pack). I never got any metatarsal bruising . Got maybe 3 minor blisters, compared to my companion who wore light Solomon hikers who got dozens of blisters. They dry pretty quick after getting wet, and have a nice wide toe bed to accommodate for foot swelling. They preformed well, so i gave them 5 stars. My only gripe is that they're so ugly. Wish they made the AT Plus in my size (15), it's much handsomer.

This is a good pair of shoes. As I have Achilles Tendon's problem, I find this pair of shoes particularly helpful. I'm able to walk with it for much longer distance as compared to others normal sport shoes.

This shoe is a very versatile trail runner. I have put roughly 80 miles of rocky hiking on this shoe so far and the tread is still more than trustworthy. It is lightweight despite its durabilty, and the trail shields work well to keep my feet from being battered (above average protection for a shoe this light) it is far from waterproof bc of the mesh upper, but that isnt what i was looking for. Its breathabilty is awesome and keeps hot feet dry from sweat, and allows wet feet to be "walked dry". Definitely worth the dough!
