I purchased this shoe on sale elsewhere for $50. First of all, it is a solid, and rugged feeling shoe. I have worn the shoes around the house and on a short walk to begin breaking them in. They feel a bit stiff, as I expected since they are hikers, but also feel just a bit small. I had never owned Columbia shoes before these, and had no clue on their sizing. The fit is snug, not tight, but it definately form fitting. I am sure thats part of the shoes intent, stabilty on rock surfaces. That said and done, I think i would have ordered up one half size given a repeat.

My shoes are the orangish/pumpkin color. I personally like it, being that orange is the color of my favorite team The Baltimore Orioles, and the shoes feal very solid and durable. I wear these with a pair of North Face convertible pants in a gray color, and the two pair well. I would recommend the Shastalavista at sale prices, for full pop I would probably look around a bit. If you can get these shoes for $60 you have found a solid choice.

The shoe looked nice, and easy to maintain as many hiking shoes are. It was easily broken into and provide great support and comfortable on my feet. I am very very happy with the shoes. it is quite water resistant and the grip it provides is excellent from tracking wet surfaces. You can even wear it during the milder periods of the winter since it provides such great protection from the outside elements.

I purchased these shoes from Amazon. The quality of materials are good and it looks nice when you wear them. However, the sole is a bit hard, which makes them uncomfortable when you try them first. They are not slippery and reliable. I hope they will last much longer than the one (different brand) I bought in Walmart. In general, I would say they are really good, if you don't count a hardy sole.
