I have a ½" difference in leg length and always need to wear a heel lift, or my back acts up. I've tried the leather-topped ones, but they tend to compact after a while, and only offer 3 or 4 layers in 3/8" thickness. I decided to give the Clearly Visible lifts a shot. They are MUCH better than what I'd been using. They come ½" sized, with numerous, VERY thin layers that allow you to really customize them. I also like that they are quite a bit longer, which allows for a more gradual transition from heel to toe. They are made of material that will not compact, which is great. I lift the shoe bed and place the lift under it, which seems to work the best. I definitely recommend these without hesitation.

I like the way this item forms to the curve of your heel. But, when I used it on a sandal, it protruded out the back, breaking several 2" long sections off. However, the manufacturer promptly compted me a new wedge. Before affixing the replacement wedge in the sandal, I wore the device in a shoe for several days to get it formed, then super-glued the layers together. I then adhered the now solid wedge to the sandal; works great, is invisible, comfortable enough that I'm never aware that it's there.

These heel lifts are especially useful in situations where precise gradation of elevation is needed. They do not provide any cushioning, so may be best suited to shoes which soles themselves provide cushioning.

After a total knee replacement, the "fixed" leg was left longer than the "unfixed" leg. This happens, I understand, because when you straighten a curved line, it becomes longer. The leg was curved due to failure of the knee, but was straightened with the surgery. The "unfixed" leg is still curved. As a result, I developed an awkward gait and incredible pain in my lower back from walking with the mismatched legs. This highly adjustable heel-left relieved the back pain within a week, and greatly improved my gait. I have the lift in all my shoes and will continue to use them until the other leg is "fixed" next year. I highly recommend this product.
