I first bought these with a new pair of running shoes from Foot Locker a few years ago. The salesman was very knowledgeable and after taking off his own shoe to show me he had these inserts, I was sold. These inserts provide a good level of padding and have eliminated my issues with shin splints (along with a good pair of sneakers, this cannot be stressed enough for shin splints!)
Since then, I have purchased several pairs of these inserts for all of my footwear. I love them in my combat boots, especially during my deployment where I was on my feet 12-15 hours a day. I forgot to put these inserts in before I left and I had lower back pain and leg stiffness, but once I remembered these nifty little inserts that all went away.
They fit into any shoe: simply take out the old insert and place it on top of the new one and simply cut to match the shape.
My only gripe is the limited lifetime; they wear out pretty quickly (not enough to deduct a star.) I went through 3 pairs of these on my deployment and I can easily go through that many in a year of running in my sneakers. However, all footwear wears out with time and use and these are no different. I'd rather replace these cheap(er) inserts than a new pair of shoes every few months.
