I'm a big fan of Sockwa. Especially their G3 series which accommodates a wide foot nicely. (I haven't tried their G4 series yet). I was very excited when I heard about the X8 and I pre-ordered them months in advance. Just as advertised it is indeed more breathable than their other shoes preventing moisture. However I find that I still prefer wearing my G3's. Mainly because I find the X8 ankle band is a bit tight and therefore aggravates my achilles tendon at the back. I would definitely not recommend these to anyone who has even minor achilles tendonitis which is something that many runners experience from time to time. I'm not sure, but I wonder if a tight ankle band might actually cause inflamation of the achilles after many runs. Not only is the band on the X8 tighter, but the fabric is also rougher than the soft neoprene of the other models. The band around the ankles of the other models are definitely more comfortable for me. These are also a little narrower than the G3's but they stretch pretty well. I like the idea behind this shoe, but the ankle band is a deal breaker for me. Those with a narrower foot/ankle might like these better.
