Use: I run in Montreal during winter. I only wear minimalist shoes (running/casual/formal).
Fit: I usually wear size 40 VFF. I bought this in a 41 and it fits perfectly. The first time I put these on it took 10-15 minutes to get my toes aligned and foot in. After wearing them around the house all day, the elastic around the ankle has stretched appropriately, and it currently takes 2-3 minutes (similar to my other VFFs).
Comfort: I have no major complaints. I've experienced no discomfort while running. Quite the opposite these shoes are warm and well designed for snowy, icy terrain. I have experienced no substantial loss of traction despite icy conditions. They proved very warm in -16C / 3F, and I suspect they will remain comfortable down to (or below) -25C / -13F without socks. While tactile feedback is somewhat muted by the thicker sole and insulation, this has no practical ill-effects. The cuff seem adjacent to the Achilles is a little rough, but causes only minor irritation.
Conclusion: I love these shoes. If you need minimalist shoes for winter, these are perfect. They will take some time to get on initially, but after the elastic stretches to match your ankle there will be no problem.
Note: I cannot give informed comment on water-resistance as I haven't encountered any puddles.
