In my quest toward more natural, minimalist running, this shoe is fantastic. I have worn it in distances, so far, up to 50 miles and am planning on running a 100 mile trail ultramarathon in it. I believe it will work very well. I am absolutely of the belief that we, as humans, have gone the wrong way with our feet and running. The human foot, as Da Vinci said, is a marvel of engineering design. To encase it in rubber and synthetics, cushion the arch, destroy the natural movements is foolishness in the extreme. Orthotics, special shoes, etc. are actually causing our problems, not preventing them! This shoe, and indeed, the entire Inov-8 line, goes a long way toward returning to a more natural way of running.

The 295 is perhaps the perfect trail shoe. It is very light, yet secure and protective on any terrain. The aggressive tread cuts through mud with ease, but doesn't bother you on hard-pack or pavement either. Fit is narrow in the heel and moderate in the toe box. Low heel counter is a big plus. Excellent shoe for 100-milers. I wore a brand new pair at the Bighorn 100 last year and had zero foot problems...and that course is known for chewing up feet.
