My previous trail running shoes were a pair of Inov-8 X-Talon 212 which were great but I think I like the Fellraisers just a little bit better. This is mainly because the Fellraisers have a little bit more to them so they provide a little more support, but this also means they might be a slight bit heavier. The Fellraisers also feel a bit better on pavement which I certainly try to keep to a minimum, but occasionally a trail does require crossing a road or two. When I do hit pavement with them, it really doesn't feel like I am running in a shoe with cleats.
The lacing system is awesome. If you think they are like the bungee laces that are commonly recommended for triathlons, you would be wrong. They adjust easily but they do not stretch. They hold very firm so you won't have to worry about losing your shoe if you get into some deep mud which has happened to me with bungee laces and it was no fun.

I was apprehensive about this one because I have wide feet. But thanks to the soft materials used on the side of the shoe, even though it is not a wide shoe, with a relatively narrow cutting (but not the narrowest), it fits. Now I can have some grip while trail running as the previous XR Mission just didn't have the grip at all.
