The transition has not been easy and often requires more mental concentration during runs not to return back to what I've been accustomed to. With the Montrail Fluidflex, better form comes more naturally. The shoes are very light and the difference is immediately noticeable. I've used the Montrail's on various surfaces (track, trail, asphalt, and even long-runs on a concrete bike path) and they perform wonderfully. They are very durable and hold up very well. On trails, they are "grippy" and agile. On the track and even on harder surfaces, they provide enough of a cushion so that you don't feel the jarring impact that I feel with a completely minimalist shoes. I've tried the Vibram's and personally, could not get used to them.
Bottom-line: superb shoe for those that want to focus on improving their running form.

Just bought these (size 11, same as my Saucony kinvaras) fit is good my toes have plenty of room up front, and, wow, I am really enjoying them on the techy trails...my pair of hoka's have 'too much' underfoot for my taste; these Montrails have some of the soft forgiveness without a bloated sensation (still have ground feel a nice soft sensation), with great grip (I have noticed that pounding steeper downhills with the lighter upper can result in a bit of compression in the toes, but not bad) overall, a big winner for me....Best Deals on Montrail Men's FluidFlex Trail Running Shoe
One run in so I can't say to much, but these things are light really light, you barley feel them on your feet, but there was plenty of support didn't feel the pounding you get from most minamalist shoes. The run was only five miles so we will have to see how they do on longer runs or once they have a few more miles on them how they last. First day probably one of the best shoes out of the box.Honest reviews on Montrail Men's FluidFlex Trail Running Shoe
These shoes are super light, grip well and are very comfortable. I wore these for Tough Mudder and was shocked how well they held up, rinsed them out and tossed them in the washing machine and they are good to go again. Pros comfortable, trail and road worthy, lightweight, sheds water wellCons your ankles will roll on technical trails if the fit isn't snug
lengthwise, I need a 12.5, but my low-volume (skinny) foot doesn't fill this shoe very well. I've compensated by wearing thick socks and lacing tight. Still, I have to be careful on rocks and roots. Wool socks work better at stabilizing than synthetic socks.
My Fluid Balance shoes are heavier and they hold more water, but they are much more stable than the Fluidflex.
