I wore these on a 2 day backpacking trip with 38 river crossings. These were the perfect shoe! They are EXTREMELY lightweight...and drained well. These shoes coupled with some hydropel on my feet truly were the pefect combination. I usually wear orthotics because of flat feet but decided to go without on this trip and the shoes didn't disappoint. The trend is towards a more minimal shoe (like this) and I understand why. I would easily recommend these shoes as an ultralight backpacking shoe without reservation!

My first minimalist/reduced running shoes are the (black and green) Green Silence and I absolutely love them. I was very surprised that an eco-friendly shoe would have such great feel and technology in running. I run for my community college and these I am starting off with my new season in so I may ease into them slowly (low mileage at first). They are a slightly narrow fit across the top and midfoot (this is somewhat due to the abnormal lacing of the shoe, which is a huge plus for me), with a slightly wider toe box. I love both those features. The bottom is more of a foam than a hard rubber so the landings are a tad softer. The heel-drop is very small and the heel hieght is not at all large. These shoes are very light (6.9 ounces) and run well on multiple terrains and for various workouts/speeds. More info:

If you are going minimalist, these are a great transition shoe (or even just to stick with these as their features are already fully satisfying with minilast running shoes). They are very comfortable, thus making them a great casual shoe too. As a personal recommendation, whether for casual use or not, please get the black and green color, as it being modest and color-cordinated with clothing. I love the shoes and I recommend them to every runner out there.

So good it's not even funny. They weigh nothing. Very, very comfortable (I have medium to narrow feet and high arches) up to 10k and probably beyond. I love this obnoxious color way, although it is a little less in your face than the Ronald McDonald color way (which I also have).

Honest reviews on Brooks Men's Green Silence Running Shoe

The first pair (black and green) were awesome. My second pair (dark blue/ light blue) are too narrow and tight! I think this is a trend in shoe manufacturing. Shoes are getting thinner to skimp on product. I spoke to a local Brooks dealer and he agreed that many manufacturers are doing this as well. My foot is not changing, my weight and running regime is consistent. I put down a series of 10 ks to break them in, still tight. Oh, Keen and Merrel do this too. On one pair of Keen Targahee's I measured 1/4" decrease in width. Wider sizes ordered later are too wide. Ugh. what a pain.

Shoes are awesome, Comfortable, but not very durable. wore for about 2 months maybe and my toe has made a hole through the sides of the shoes.
